Hylian entered the competitive scene with Melee in 2003. Originally a {{SSBM|Marth}} [[main]], he switched to {{SSBM|Fox}} and {{SSBM|Samus}} soon after in 2004. He frequently attended tournaments in the Texas scene before retiring from Melee in 2009 to focus on [[Brawl]]. In 2014, he began to play again, and practices with {{Sm|Darkatma}}.

Hylian was a top Brawl player from 2008-2010, taking tournament sets off notable players such as {{Sm|Tyrant}}, {{Sm|Dojo}}, {{Sm|Lain}} and others. He brought the {{SSBB|Ice Climbers}} inescapable grab combos to attention in Texas after his 1st place finish with them at the large Texas tournament, HOBO 4. He is known for being the first player to use their standing infinites in tournament, and for developing their [[footstool]] [[chain grabs]] after Texas banned Ice Climbers from using [[infinite]] chaingrabs in tournament play. While more known for his Ice Climbers, he originally mained {{SSBB|Mr. Game & Watch}}, and saw much success with the character.

Hylian entered the Project M scene during 2.1's release as a {{PM|Link}} main. Showcasing various tricks the character could do, he was often ranked the best Link main by people until 2.6, when others started seeing success with the character. Soon after entering the scene, he joined the Project M Development Team as a play-tester. His main focus is balance testing and he contributes to many characters, with {{PM|Ice Climbers}} being his main focus of development.


Hylian entered the competitive smash scene in 2004, getting last place at 3rd Coast Gaming Invitational where he had to play [[DSF]] first round. Since then he played with friends going to a few tournaments but not improving too much, just gaining knowledge on the game. He has been going to the GameFAQs boards since 2003 and is a well known poster there. In late 2006/early 2007 he started playing with other Austin smashers and improved greatly. He played marth from 2003-2006 then dropped him for Fox once he learned how to [[waveshine]]. Soon after that he discovered that he possessed and affinity for Samus and decided to pick her up as well, switching from Marth/Fox to Samus/Fox. While he spent time learning specific techniques and honing his tech skill he made his first real tournament impact at H.O.S.T (Houston's Official Smash Tournament) in 2006. He was still relatively unknown at this point but at this tournament he placed 13th out of 70 participants in singles and 9th in teams. After this tournament most people considered him the best Samus player in Texas, though recently other Samus players have surpassed him.

Hylian is known for his ability to control Fox's [[SHDL]]. He invented a new way to laser, which is moving in the air while lasering, without dashing. "Weaving" is a technique he popularized which uses this method of lasering to move back and fourth in a flashy display of tech skill. At Melee FC Diamond, he showed players such as [[DaShizWiz]], [[Mew2King]], and [[Silent Wolf]] this technique, but none of them could preform it well. Since then he has been dubbed "Best SHDL user in the World" by Silent Wolf.

Hylian tends to love money matches. At almost every tournament he attends he usually has a list of at least $100 worth of money matches (many of which he loses). He post frequently on GameFAQs and Smashboards and is often challenged to them.
