:Well, one example is how I attempted to move the "Congo Jungle" entry over to "Kongo Jungle (SSB)" after I felt consensus was reached for the move, although as the destination page already existed as a redirect from the last time this was brought up, I couldn't do a proper move and instead (and I admit this was in error) just did a full-content copy. With adminsistrative abilities, I would've been able to do a proper overwrite and move, leaving the page history intact as required by wiki policy. Due to this, I was told I should "wait for admin to take action" on issues instead of trying to handle it myself; as an admin, I would have that agency. I don't consider myself wrong in attempting the move in the first place (though my method may have been), as I believe consensus was reached with a 7:2 vote and a decline in active discussion on the issue. Was I wrong in that conclusion? VinLAURiA (talk) 19:25, 20 November 2014 (EST)

::You are not wrong about that conclusion, but would you know how to move it in that situation? In fact, do you know (at least a little) on some admin tools? Just wondering, though the answer will probably be "no." If it's not, then there's that. <font face="Marker Felt"><span style="color:#9f4f3f;">Rtzxy</span> <span style="color:#66CDAA;">Reflect!</span></font> 19:33, 20 November 2014 (EST)

:::I have a local MySQL server with a private MediaWiki installation set up on my own computer for use as a journal, so I'm not unfamiliar with the admin controls. Trying to move something to a page already in use brings up a prompt that asks you whether you want to delete what's already there. At least, that's the case on my installation, running MediaWiki 1.17.0 (I haven't touched the thing in a while.) I imagine the process hasn't changed, though I don't actively keep up with MediaWiki's change logs. Of course, if there's some better method - something involving the command prompt, for instance - I don't know that.
