SP can be gained (alongside {{b|Gold|collectible}}) when winning a Spirit Battle, and can also be gained when [[dismiss]]ing a spirit. The amount earned from a battle can be increased if the player's spirit team is weaker than that of the spirit. Other ways to earn the currency include finding it in [[Chest|treasure chests]] in [[Adventure Mode: World of Light]], sending spirits to Explore, completing {{SSBU|Classic Mode}}, scanning [[amiibo]], clearing a Spirit Battle [[rematch]], and in the {{h1|Spectator Mode|In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate}} shop. SP can be spent in the [[Shopping|World of Light shops]], to use [[snack]]s on spirits, to use cores to [[Summon]] a new spirit, and to reset [[Skill Tree|Adventure Skill]]s and gain back the Skill Spheres used to obtain them.
