===Origins===
Stage humping seems to have been first recognized in a YouTube video from May 15, 2015 uploaded by Swamp Squad titled "SSBM: New Tech! (Stage Humping)." The video became a minor meme in the Super Smash Bros. community usually as a humorous reference to the presentation of the technique in the video. On February 4, 2016, Sail Hatan Gaming uploaded a YouTube video titled "Stage Humping Demonstration SSB4" and a follow-up video three days later discussing and demonstrating the technique in Super Smash Bros. 4.
