The Devil Car (デビルカー, Devil Car), localized as Psycho Car in EarthBound Beginnings, is an enemy that originated from the EarthBound series.

Origin

The Psycho Car is one of several vehicular enemies in EarthBound Beginnings, and can appear in the outskirts of the towns of Merrysville and Reindeer as an upgraded version of the Mad Car. The Psycho Car and its predecessor is a dangerous enemy, especially if it is accompanied by a PsychoTruck, as they can vent exhaust paralyzing fumes giving the protagonist Ninten an asthma attack, which makes him completely helpless and unable to do anything unless he uses asthma spray or one of his party members defeats them and ends the battle. A similar enemy named the Mad Taxi would appear in the game's sequel, EarthBound, in Fourside and Summers.

Since EarthBound Beginnings, the English localization of Mother, was not yet officially released until 2015, the Super Smash Bros. series uses the more literal "Devil Car" translation of its Japanese name.

In Smash Run

The Devil Car appears as an enemy. It is one of the stronger enemies, as it has a lot of HP, cannot be grabbed and has knockback resistance. It can perform several attacks:

  • ramming into the player
  • spinning around itself, causing multiple hits
  • spew out paralyzing exhaust fumes
  • jump to reach an airborne player, dealing high knockback.

Devil Car
North America A fearsome enemy from the Mother series, this car attacks mercilessly, closing in on fighters before trying to hit them as it spins doughnuts. No, these aren't the kind you eat—they're the kind that hurt. Its exhaust fumes can cause paralysis too, so keep your distance until it's between attacks.
Europe In this game, this fearsome car from the Mother series does doughnuts. That's not "does doughnuts" in the sense of "bakes delicious sugary circles of dough", but rather "spins mercilessly into fighters to clobber them". Its exhaust fumes cause paralysis too, so keep your distance until it stops, then move in and attack it!
