Neutral Special: For Young Link’s neutral special, I thought switching it up would be nice since Toon Link has Fire Arrows and Link has normal Arrows. Young Link should get Ice Arrows. Ice Arrows would operate just like the other arrows with two notable differences. Difference 1 is… its ice. Difference 2 is how hard it hits. A chunk of ice rests on the tip of the arrow so getting it slammed into you would hurt. Therefore, its notably stronger than Link and Toon Link’s arrows. However, it falls faster thanks to this so there is a nerf.
Side Special: Side Special remains exactly the same, to be honest.
Up Special: Up Special also remains the same.
Down Special: Young Link can now pull bombs faster but they do less damage than before, however, have great combo potential.
Attacks | Attacks | ||
Jab: Young Link’s jab is nerfed as he can no longer infinite jab his opponents. Instead, its traded for a hard hitting final strike.
Side Tilt: Young Link’s Side Tilt now looks more like his Forward Throw. Young Link jabs his foot forward and slams it into his enemies. It has some ending lag, however.
Up Tilt: Up Tilt remains the same.
Down Tilt: Young Link’s Down Tilt now functions more like Ness’ down tilt. The only difference is its slower but hits harder.
Side Smash: Side Smash hits harder. That’s really all that’s new.
Up Smash: Instead of 3 slashes, Young Link now only does two. See what I did there? Toon Link does one, Young Link does two, Link does three!
Down Smash: For the most part, Down Smash remains the same.
Aerials | |||
Neutral Air: Remains the same as in Melee.
Forward Air: Again, remains the same.
Down Air: Down Air basically functions like Link’s from Smash 4.
Back Air: This one is interesting. Young Links does an overhead slash that goes backwards. Basically, it starts at his head then rotates around and hits those who are behind him. It’s a very powerful KO move.
Grabs | Grabs | ||
Grab: This one works like Link’s grab from Smash 64 now.
Pummel: Slightly faster.
Forward Throw: Instead of kicking his enemies, Young Link quickly jabs them causing them to fly forward.
Back Throw: This launches them less but has better combo potential.
Up Throw: Young Link pulls out a slingshot and throws the opponent up. He shoots them with a Deku Net.
Down Throw: Remains the same from Melee.
Other | Other | ||
Dash Attack: The Barrel Roll from Ocarina of Time shows up in this. It works like Donkey Kong’s Dash attack as it rolls of cliffs. Its hard hitting and good for off-stage attacks!
Shield Rolls: Normally this doesn’t matter but now Young Link’s rolls look like the sidesteps from Ocarina of Time.
Wall Climb: Now Young Link can wall cling.
Taunts | Taunts | ||
Up Taunt: Young Link drinks milk. “But Toon Link does that.” Turn that back into his one from Brawl where he looks at the screen. Oh and yes it should heal Young Link.
Side Taunt: Young Link pulls out a random object and the famous Zelda jingle in which you open a chest plays. Young Link holds up and smiles.
Down Taunt: Young Link puts on the Stone Mask and looks at the screen.
Final Smash | Final Smash
Final Smash: I’m lazy. Seriously, it should just remain the same as Link and Toon Link’s. It should be Triforce Slash. It sends them at a slightly upward and forward angle, however.
