::Looking through the alts in Brawl and Smash 4, I can quickly state that there are 9 characters with alternate costumes, about 16% of all 58 characters in Smash Bros history. Going deeper in,1 of them has 100% non-palette swaps, 5 of these characters have 50% alts, 1 has two non-palette swaps, and 2 have a single alternate costume. And then there's the rest of the cast in the series with 0 non-palette swaps. They aren't as common as you would think (barring PM).
