==Origin==
==Origin==
Mimics were first introduced in ''Dragon Quest III'', and have appeared in every mainline game since then. Mimics are similar to monsters of the same name in other franchises, such as ''Dungeons and Dragons''. Mimics take the form of a treasure chest (usually in a dungeon), and attack the player when they try to open it. Defeating the Mimic usually results in them dropping an item, which differs from game to game.

Mimics are essentially stronger versions of another monster called the Cannibox, as Mimics posses better stats and they ability to instantly kill any character with spells like Whack and Thwack.

Mimics have a chance of appearing on the stage [[Yggdrasil's Altar]]. Just like in their home series, Mimics take the form of a regular treasure chest, and when the player tries to open it, they'll attack. Defeating the Mimic results in a random item to be dropped.
