 On October 30th, 2019, the [https://www-aaaba-lp1-hac.cdn.nintendo.net/en-US/e432a816/index.html notification] for the Spirit Board Event [[Smash by the Sword]] went live. The event ran between November 1st to 4th. Located at the bottom of the notification is the copyright for the SNK Corporation, which was newly added. This led to rumors that {{SSBU|Terry}}'s release date would be near the beginning of November. This speculation was eventually proven correct with Terry's release on November 6th.

-On July 30th, 2021, a 4chan user posted in a [https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/565604656/#565606781 thread] that [[Sora]] from {{uv|Kingdom Hearts}} would be revealed on October 5th as the last character for ''Super Smash Bros. Ultimate''. Later that same day, another user in a [https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/565589861/#q565642448 thread] claimed to be a [[Disney]] employee, and mentioned that Nintendo had recently asked for permission to use music in a digital event that was supposedly scheduled for October 5th, later citing that Sora would be the last DLC character. Later on, in the September 2021 Nintendo Direct, there was an announcement about the last ''Smash'' fighter on that same date, lining up with the text leaks. Sora was then confirmed to be the last DLC character in [[Mr. Sakurai Presents#Battling with Sora|the last presentation]] for ''Smash Ultimate''.
