The reason people choose the gamecube controller is about comfortability.  People have been using it for seven years now.  On top of that, if you're a more serious player than you will want the cube  or classic controller to take advantage of the extra buttons so you can use advanced techs like B sticking.  I use the c sitck for specials now, since I never used the C stick in melee.  personally the GC controller just feels better in my hands.  I found the classc controller a little weird so I decided not to use it.  It's that simple

Look. The Wiimote-Nunchuck actually has the same number of buttons, and the c-stick has the exact same function as shake smash. People think differently. They like different things. I like to keep moving forward. Some people like what they're used to. It's not like people are holding up picket signs outside of Nintendo of America saying, "Down with the Wii remote! Down with the Wii remote!" or Japanese people. "Hi Hi! Seorru Amiyamahey! Bonzai!" The only thing that I have to say related to this is what Sakurai said. "I have to recomend the GC controller. I like tho feel that powerful rumble!" Okay. No offense to Sakurai, but that just may be the stupidest thing he ever said, given that the Wiimote has rumble feature too. 'm out.
