This battle pits the player as anyone against the eight original starter characters from ''[[Super Smash Bros.]]'', two at a time. These opponents are [[Mario (SSBB)|Mario]], [[Donkey Kong (SSBB)|Donkey Kong]], [[Link (SSBB)|Link]], [[Samus Aran (SSBB)|Samus]], [[Yoshi (SSBB)|Yoshi]], [[Kirby (SSBB)|Kirby]], [[Fox (SSBB)|Fox]], and [[Pikachu (SSBB)|Pikachu]] in that order. Note that this is the same order they appeared in on the original ''Super Smash Bros.'' character selection screen which is also in the order from the first appearing characters, which are Mario and Donkey Kong, to the last appearing of the eight which is Pikachu.
