Chansey (ラッキー, Rakkī: Lucky) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.
Origin
<!--REMEMBER: While all Chansey are female, Nintendo's official stance is that Pokémon have no gender, regardless of sex. Be sure to use "it" instead of "she".-->

Creature description
Chansey is a bulbapedia-type Pokémon introduced in bulbapedia, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #113 as the "Egg Pokémon". It evolves from Happiny when leveled up while holding an Oval Stone in the daytime from bulbapedia onward, and evolves into Blissey when leveled up with high friendship from bulbapedia onward. In Pokemon the Series and bulbapedia, it is often found as the assistant of bulbapedia in bulbapedias located in bulbapedia, bulbapedia, bulbapedia, and bulbapedia.
Chansey appeared as one of the original 151 Pokémon in the original Pokémon. A player could only obtain a Chansey in either the Safari Zone or the Unknown Dungeon. In Pokémon GS, Chansey would evolve into Blissey once they had reached max "Happiness". In Pokémon DS, a pre-evolutionary form called Happiny was introduced. Chansey has also made numerous appearances in the animated TV series. Most of the time, Chansey can be seen with Nurse Joy in the Pokémon Centers. Chansey aides the Nurse Joys in operations.

One notable feature about Chansey is the egg in her pouch. Chansey can use that egg to heal herself, other Pokémon, and humans with the Softboiled move. She can also use the egg for defensive purposes by launching it using Egg Bomb.
bulbapedia (formatted as "Softboiled" prior to bulbapedia) is a Normal-type move which heals the user for half its maximum HP. It can also be used outside of battle to transfer 20% of the user's HP to a teammate, although this will fail if the user lacks enough HP to donate. Softboiled is bulbapedia in bulbapedia, with Chansey and Mew being the only Pokémon capable of learning it. As of bulbapedia, it is the bulbapedia of Chansey and Blissey.

Chansey appears as a stage element and a Poké Ball Pokemon. Its Japanese voice clip is from the Pokémon episode Pokémon Fashion Flash while its English voice clip is from the Pokémon episode A Chansey Operation.

Chansey makes its debut in Super Smash Bros., using Softboiled to create three eggs which contain items in them. These eggs can also explode, and unlike normal items, they can be attacked before they land.

Chansey also appears in the Saffron City stage. Unless items are turned off or the stage is played in Training Mode, it will use Softboiled to create a single egg when it appears out of the door of the Silph Building. Also, it heals a small amount of damage when touching players, as opposed to the other Pokémon which cause damage. Chansey can be KO'd by characters and by items, although doing so grants no reward.

Chansey makes its first debut in Super Smash Bros.. In this game, Chansey uses SoftBoiled as its "attack". Chansey will give up to 3 eggs which contain items in them.

Chansey reappears in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It functions almost identically to its appearance in SSB, except now it will create up to five eggs. These eggs, being normal Eggs, will either heal for 7%, contain an item, or explode. Chansey, like Cyndaquil and Marill, can be KO'd. Its Japanese voice clip comes from a different part of Pokémon Fashion Flash while its English voice clip is the same one used in Smash 64.

Chansey also appears in the Saffron City stage and gives eggs when it appears out of the door of the Silph Building. Also, it cures a small amount of health by touching players.

A giant balloon of Chansey is one of the many floating and bending platforms that make the Poké Floats stage. Compared to the other balloons, Chansey's balloon appears and disappears rather rapidly and jerkily, but in a pattern.

Chansey makes another appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Chansey's move is identical to the move used in the last game, but it will give up to five eggs this time. These eggs, being normal Eggs, will either heal, contain an item, or explode. Chansey can be KO'd in SSBM by any character or by items. Nothing is rewarded for KOing Chansey. Chansey does not harm any character in this game.

A giant balloon of Chansey (in actuality, the 3D model of Chansey used in Pokémon Stadium for Nintendo 64) is one of the many floating and bending "platforms" that comprise the Poké Floats stage. Compared to the other balloons, Chansey's balloon appears and disappears rather rapidly and jerkily.
Chansey returns on the Saffron City stage, with the same role it had on the stage in previous games.

Chansey features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:

Trivia
*Chansey is one of four (and the first) Pokémon to be both a Poké Ball summon and a stage element in the same installment, as it is present as both in Smash 64 and Melee. Electrode, Scizor, and Palkia gained this distinction in Ultimate.
