 Tafokints started as a {{SSBM|Ness}} main, but quickly switched to Sheik after watching some {{Sm|Captain Jack}} and {{Sm|Isai}} videos. While attending UCLA, he trained with players such as {{sm|Aesis}} and {{sm|S2J}} to get better. In 2011, he started hosting a NorCal local tournament series in Campbell.
