As an available character of their choice, the player must win a [[stock]] match against a giant [[CPU]] Yoshi on the [[Yoshi's Story]] stage with no time limit. The player starts with 3 [[stock]] and the giant Yoshi starts with one stock. Being giant (in fact, even bigger than a normally giant Yoshi under the effects of the [[Super Mushroom]]), the Yoshi is very heavy and strong. However, his [[AI]] is quite low, and often will [[Self destruct]] within seconds of beginning the event.
