Smasher:Nairo: Difference between revisions

On July 1st, 2020, amidst a wave of sexual harassment and assault accusations made against Smashers like {{Sm|D1}}, {{Sm|Keitaro}}, and {{Sm|Cinnpie}}, a rumor began spreading that Nairo and {{Sm|CaptainZack}} had a sexual encounter. Initially, both brushed it off as a rumor, with CaptainZack stating that he made it up to impress his friends. However, on the early morning of July 2nd, CaptainZack would release a Twitlonger where he confirmed the rumors, saying that it happened when he was 15 and Nairo was 20, and that he was paid by Nairo to stay silent about the situation<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/CaptainZack_/status/1278574207207686144|title=CaptainZack on his relationship with Nairo}}</ref>. Following this, Nairo deactivated his [[Twitter]] account and his brother {{Sm|Ksizzle}} confirmed that "Nairo is done" <ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/A1SinceDay1SSB/status/1278596027017236480|title=Ksizzle's statement}}</ref>. Nairo would eventually reactivate his Twitter and post a statement apologizing for his actions and saying that he would no longer be active on social media <ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2020-07-03-nintendo-condemns-abuse-as-allegations-spread-across-smash-bros-community|title=Article with Nairo's apology}}</ref>. He deleted his Instagram account and also lost 10,000 [[YouTube]] subscribers in the span of a day. The allegations sparked an overwhelming amount of backlash against Nairo, as many people who looked up to him before were disappointed in his actions, so much so that his name became trending on Twitter. In the early morning of July 2nd, Nairo was dropped by his long-standing team NRG.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/NRGgg/status/1278696228100771840?s=20|title=NRG's statement regarding dropping Nairo}}</ref> Following this, the 2GGaming panel banned Nairo from all of their future events, alongside several others accused of sexual misconduct during this time<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/2GGaming/status/1278797509612105729|title=2GGaming statement}}</ref>. Twitch would also ban and unpartner Nairo on September 10th of the same year<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/StreamerBans/status/1304175955603324930|title=StreamerBans Bot announcing Nairo's Twitch ban}}</ref>.

The controversy, however, would be reversed as several statements in CaptainZack's TwitLonger, including the hush money, were revealed to be manipulated following tamim's TwitLonger on September 14th<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1srda66|title=tamim's statement}}</ref>. Furthermore, on October 28th, Nairo would release a more detailed statement refuting CaptainZack's side of the story, claiming that he had woken up to Zack forcefully performing oral sex on him (which was corroborated by tamim's statement), and that he had briefly frozen up before pushing Zack off, and that Zack had blackmailed him into one other sexual encounter as well. He ended his statement saying that he had an attorney in case Zack continued to push his case, and that he was also seeking therapy for the trauma caused by Zack<ref>{{cite web|url=https://nairoby.medium.com/my-statement-9a091682fff3|title=Nairo's second statement}}</ref>.
