Controversies
More recently, for Apex 2015, there were 2 major controversies. In one, Project M was no longer given an official slot. It is hypothesized that the reasoning behind this is that Project M is a fan game and there might be copyright issues. It is also hypothesized that there is official Nintendo sponsorship, but this might not be true.
For the other, DMBrandon/Diem was given a chance to do commentary for top 8 in melee. For the later, due to various comments on Reddit, as well as Diem's own decision, he was instead replaced by Toph.

Past 2009, they have progressively added other games, including SSBM and SSB64 in 2010. In 2012, they became part of the Road to EVO 2012.
