Approach Attacks are those that can also be considered projectiles that use the character's body as the projectile. I.e. the attack moves the character a considerable distance (e.g. Wolf's Side Smash, although it moves him, would not be in this category as the distance is not significant). Thus these attacks provide a safer approach than simply Walking through offensive strategies.
List of Approach Attacks
- Jigglypuff's Rollout
- Yoshi's Egg Roll
- Fox, Falco and Wolf's Side Special (Fox Illusion)
- Captain Falcon and Ganondorf's Side Special (Raptor Boost)
- Sonic's many spin attacks (Spin-Dash)
- Ice Climbers' Squall Hammer when used sideways
- Luigi's Luigi Cyclone when used sideways
- Ike's Quick Draw
- Ness/Lucas and PK Thunder 2
- Meta Knight's Mach Tornado and Drill Rush
- Peach and Peach Bomber
- Pichu/Pikachu Skull Bash
- Squirtle's Withdraw
- Wario's Wario Bike
- Zelda's Farore's Wind (SSBB only) (other teleportation moves are not included as they do not have a hit box on re-entry, meaning it is not an offensive approach, and so not an Approach Attack).
