Stop changing redirects[edit]

I need to ask you to stop removing redirects. There's no real reason to be changing them, as they are a byte-saving measure that also makes things convenient for the reader. It is detrimental and frowned upon for you to be removing them without a good reason. Black Vulpine the 🦊Furry🐺. Furries make the internets go! :3 20:12, March 30, 2022 (EDT)

What's wrong? Redirects are just mistakes that are just an alternate title for an article. I'm only fixing it so it manually redirects users to the appropriate article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jake Lugo (talkcontribs) 20:21, March 30, 2022 (EDT)
Because "they are a byte-saving measure that also makes things convenient for the reader". It is simpler to put Ultimate instead of Ultimate or Rosalina instead of Rosalina. It makes things easier for us with the added benefit of taking less space. --CanvasK (talk) 20:27, March 30, 2022 (EDT)
I mean, seriously? The fact that CanvasK had to literally copy-paste what I said tells me you didn’t even properly read my message. You even created a new account just for the purpose of replying. Well, please make sure you use that account from now on, and please also make sure you sign your comments next time. Black Vulpine the 🦊Furry🐺. Sorry, but redirects just annoy me. Some articles have different titles for an article, but no redirect. I hate to say this, but can you be flexible with redirects being fixed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jake Lugo (talkcontribs) 02:07, March 30, 2022 (BST)

No. Your dislike of redirects is irrelevant. They are used for a reason, and your opinion does not get special priority. Also, remember to sign your comments using 4 tildes (~~~~). Alex the Weeb 21:14, March 30, 2022 (EDT)
(edit conflict) 1, that isn't "fixing" them because there's nothing broken. 2, we aren't going to change how we link everything because of one user. 3, "Assist Trophies" is used 678 times, "Character" redirects to "Fighter" and is used 4,178 times; good luck with that. --CanvasK (talk) 21:16, March 30, 2022 (EDT)

I'm starting to understand this now. Are redirects used on wikis in order to make things simple? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jake Lugo (talkcontribs) 21:19, March 30, 2022 (EDT)

Again, sign your comments with 4 tildes (~~~~). But to answer your question, yes. As I stated "It makes things easier for us". --CanvasK (talk) 21:24, March 30, 2022 (EDT)
Redirects are used on EVERY wiki, or at least every wiki I've been to. If you want to avoid them, then the only way to do that is avoid wikis altogether... or start your own wiki. Black Vulpine the 🦊Furry🐺. Furries make the internets go! :3 01:34, March 31, 2022 (EDT)
Also, don't go back to your IP after you have already made your account, stick with your account. Grand Dad.png NPM Morr!? A legit emoji in the Smash Asia server. 01:36, March 31, 2022 (EDT)

I see you have been warned about this in the past, redirects exist for a reason. This is your last warning, do not again pipe a link when it is entirely unnecessary, all you're doing is increasing the byte size of the page and making the editing code more cumbersome to parse through. What did I do wrong? I didn't remove any redirects and fixed a few mistakes. And what does signing comments help the community? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.188.231.194 (talkcontribs) 16:04, May 8, 2023 (EDT)
Exactly what everything else here in the many talk page messages here said, do not play dumb, and how are people going to know who posted what you said if you don't sign it? Make one more unsigned talk page post and you'll get banned for that too. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 20:09, May 8, 2023 (EDT)
Sorry, but it was actually me who made changes. I lost hatred on some redirects, such as "D-pad" which redirects to "Directional pad", "ZL button" and "ZR button" which both redirect to "Z button", "+ button", which redirects to "Plus button", "- button", which redirects to "Minus button", etc. What's the problem with the changes I made to the Wii U and Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers? Jake Lugo (talk) 07:11, May 9, 2023 (EDT)
What were you just warned? How many times do you need to be told? Stop changing redirects to piped links that just lead to the same page, there is absolutely no reason to change a link from "A" to "A button", "B" to "B button", and so on, when the end result is the same. Also if you have an account, stop editing with your IP, that is violating our sockpuppet policy, and you put your signature at the end of your post.
You have been blocked for your flagrant dismissal of our warnings over the course of an entire year. From now on, any single time you change a functional redirect to an unnecessary piped link, don't sign your post properly, or edit from your IP instead of from your account, you will be blocked for increasingly longer lengths. An icon used in notice templates. This is an IP's talk page. While it's not a requirement to have a username, those that do not can only be recognized by their IP address, which can change over time and/or be assigned to an unrelated user; they can even be shared by multiple users. If this talk page belongs to your IP but its comments are intended for someone else, you may want to login or create an account to eliminate future confusion.
