Luigi (SSBB)/Dash attack
Overview[edit]
Luigi performs a flurry of cowardly punches. Unlike in Melee, where the final hit is missing due to a missing flag, the move now properly functions with a stronger finishing hit.
It comes out on frame 4, which makes it tied for the fastest dash attack in the game, and Luigi can perform a good DACUS and boost grab with dash attack that covers a decent amount of space. Unfortunately, its strengths end there, with a myriad of weaknesses that make it considered one of Luigi's worst moves. It is laggy at 68 total frames, which makes it punishable (-20 on shield). It also doesn't deal much damage (8%) and fails to KO at any realistic percent. Its biggest weakness by far is its reliability, as it fails to connect at point blank range and it is very easy to SDI due to each hit having very low hitlag. Additionally, it struggles to true combo into its hits until around 80%, while at high percents the multihits deal too much knockback to lead into the final hit.
Due to its harsh downsides and complete lack of reward on hit, Luigi's dash attack is frequently considered one of the worst moves in the game, and is almost never used for any reasonable purpose.
