Image uploading

Your image uploads are much appreciated. Do be sure, however, to use appropriate image copyright tags when doing so. It's simple enough: if it's a screenshot of a Smash game, simply select "fair use" off the drop-down menu on the upload form. Thanks. Miles (talk) 11:16, 19 March 2015 (EDT)

Sorry about that, I will from now on :S Serpent King (talk) 11:29, 19 March 2015 (EDT)
No worries. It's just a minor thing. Miles (talk) 11:45, 19 March 2015 (EDT)

Your signature

I see two problems with your current signature.

  1. It's using a mainspace image (the Luigi head). Images meant for mainspace may not be used in signatures.
  2. It's using enlarged text (size 130%). Generally, text in signatures should be either normal size or smaller, not bigger.

See SW:SIGN for the full regulations. Toomai Glittershine ??? Le Grand Fromage 15:46, 14 April 2015 (EDT)

Sorry Serpent King (talk) 16:14, 14 April 2015 (EDT)

SSB64 Tier list update

So... I think between us, all we need to do is add it to the new on the front page and add info on every characters' "Tier placement and history" section. If you don't mind, I made another tier list chart and you updated it while I was making mine, but I replaced mine with yours. The only difference is that my rows are ordered by the current tier list (just like last time's rows were ordered) and I said Link's highest placement was a tie. --Meester Tweester (talk) 00:49, 13 May 2015 (EDT)

Oh I didn't do the anything with the tier list page. I just updated the character infoboxes. Serpent King (talk) 00:53, 13 May 2015 (EDT)

Brawl Moveset Tables

If you don't mind, I can take care of some of the Brawl tables like I did with the Melee ones. I'm not a technical player though, so I'll be using the standard table format 73MPL4R Only the dead have seen the end of war 17:02, 16 May 2015 (EDT)

No, no go ahead. Thanks for the help! Serpent King (talk) 20:00, 16 May 2015 (EDT)
In addition, I also give you permission to edit this. Also remember that, in Melee, we still need Kirby's table, some information for Zelda and Roy, and some better descriptions for the Yoster. Thanks! Serpent King (talk) 20:17, 16 May 2015 (EDT)
Bump: Melee is done and Brawl is almost there. Serpent King (talk) 20:20, 5 July 2015 (EDT)

SW:1RV

It also states that you should not revert violations of the policy, so maybe you should read it too. The information he added was not exactly inaccurate and should be discussed on the talk page at this point in time. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 15:22, 28 May 2015 (EDT)

Now that I'm caught up I see that it appears to be false information... nonetheless, still should probably review it. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 15:24, 28 May 2015 (EDT)
I have seen it. I reverted because the information was false/presented without proof. When challenged, Nintenzilla proceeded to revert war instead of going to the talk page. As Miles was already gone, I reverted. Serpent King (talk) 15:27, 28 May 2015 (EDT)

Preview Button

If you are going to make multiple edits to a single page in a short time span, there's a "Show Preview" button at the bottom at the editing window to show any changes made in case you don't feel the editing is correct. This will help to prevent clogging the "Recent Changes" page. ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is a never lover boy 18:10, 28 May 2015 (EDT)

They aren't to a single page though ;D Serpent King (talk) 18:11, 28 May 2015 (EDT)
Like I noticed three edits to the Credits page in a 1 minute time frame. ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is bad for me 18:13, 28 May 2015 (EDT)
I am fully aware on how a wiki works, but thank you. If I ever multi-edit, here's why:
  • I made a mistake (I have done so many times)
  • I am doing a specific edit to a page in multiple places, but each edit is in different sections and the article is too long to bother finding it all (This is why Credits was edited so much)

So thanks anyway Serpent King (talk) 18:18, 28 May 2015 (EDT)

Luigi Cyclone & controller ports

Port priority comes to play when two characters simultaneously perform incompatible actions on each other, for example grabbing each other. Two characters can't grab each other at the same time, so whoever has the highest port priority succeeds. The already-charged Cyclone, however, is not an effect of two characters performing incompatible actions on each other. In fact, it couldn't, since it's already triggered as the game starts. Controller ports do play a role, but it's a different phenomenon than port priority. Do you see the difference? – Smiddle 15:37, 30 May 2015 (EDT)

I suppose, but it doesn't answer the question of "why". Well I suppose that's not an unfamiliar situation with this series. Serpent King (talk) 01:38, 31 May 2015 (EDT)
You mean why it actually happens? Who knows, Melee is a very strange game, and that's why we love it! – Smiddle 02:27, 31 May 2015 (EDT)

You know what?

Get away from me. Nothing I should do should bother you. Nintenzilla (talk) 19:40, 2 June 2015 (EDT)

Just stop harrassing me with the 1RV or else I'll leave forever and blame it on you. Nintenzilla (talk) 19:42, 2 June 2015 (EDT)
Quote, "Is there anyway to block a user?" "Aww that sucks. :/" Nintenzilla (talk) 19:44, 2 June 2015 (EDT)
If that would be the only way to keep you in line, then yeah, I would want to do that. Stop slobbering my talk page with your grief. Serpent King (talk) 19:47, 2 June 2015 (EDT)
You can't do anything about it. Nintenzilla (talk) 19:49, 2 June 2015 (EDT)
I can and will. Serpent King (talk) 19:50, 2 June 2015 (EDT)
What am I doing, I'm just taking my anger out on you, you were just trying to help weren't you? I feel so bad, it makes me the villian, not you, I have a confession, I never read the rules, I pretended to, they were just so long and I didn't have time to fully devote myself. Ugh, I'm so sorry. Nintenzilla (talk) 19:52, 2 June 2015 (EDT)

(reset indent) I'm sorry I suggested your ban, but I really saw that as the only solution. You're forgiven. Serpent King (talk) 19:56, 2 June 2015 (EDT)

It's okay, I just think I need to take a break for a while, I hope to see you again someday. Bye. Nintenzilla (talk) 20:00, 2 June 2015 (EDT)

Angling?

Just to be sure, what is your source for Pit's ftilt in Brawl? Because I tried several times in-game and couldn't angle it no matter what, unless I'm so unaccustomed to Brawl's lower resolution that I couldn't see the difference (and unless it's just a damage/knockback difference and not a visual one for some reason). I know it isn't necessarily relevant, but I'm also pretty sure it does not angle in SSB4 where it's the same basic attack. (I used the PAL version, if it's relevant.) --Menshay (talk) 18:38, 8 June 2015 (EDT)

My source is my own playing. Give me one second to make sure my brain isn't stupid, I'll test it right now. (PAL should be irrelevant). Serpent King (talk) 18:40, 8 June 2015 (EDT)
Well fuck me sideways, I'm wrong. Serpent King (talk) 18:44, 8 June 2015 (EDT)

The list on my userpage.

I'm gonna add you to my "people I look up to list" You're a nice guy. And you make some boss charts. :π. Don't even ask about the Pi smiley. LittleMacmain97, a new kind of noob. (talk) 19:18, 8 June 2015 (EDT)

Although you accidently put Lucas on that chart instead of Lucina, I 'm also pretty good at Lucas. At least, I am in Brawl. LittleMacmain97, a new kind of noob. (talk) 19:22, 8 June 2015 (EDT)

Go ahead and put it on my userpage. I'll contact you when I want to update the list. The current chart is in beta, I geuss you could say. I put you on my list, by the way. LittleMacmain97, a new kind of noob. (talk) 20:44, 8 June 2015 (EDT)

I think it might be time to update my competency chart. If ya got time, here's the new people.

Run For Adminship

Or don't, I'm not really concerned. All I'm saying is that if you're going to have two idle janitor admins, you might as well keep on promoting people until you get a proper admin. 65.49.14.98 20:31, 29 June 2015 (EDT)

Been thinking about that, but not yet. I have only been here for a few months. Serpent King (talk) 20:32, 29 June 2015 (EDT)

Just… wow.

Nice work! Your contributions reflect the kind of awesome work we SmashWikidians like to see!
Thanks for anchoring trophy pages and going through pretty much every disambig related to trophies to fix them.

You're really doing a great job! Nyargleblargle (Talk) 19:07, 5 July 2015 (EDT)

Not going to lie but I think you deserve this for the Debug menu (SSBM) page as well. Dots (talk) 60% tech skill, 30% crazy, 10% you name it. :P The Pumpkin 19:14, 5 July 2015 (EDT)

Aw thanks guys ^_^ Serpent King (talk) 20:10, 5 July 2015 (EDT)
I have some more surprises coming to the wiki as soon as SSB4 anchoring and DEVELOP Mode/Stage Data is done. I am here to stay for a while :D Serpent King (talk) 20:17, 5 July 2015 (EDT)

Preview

I nothiced you made more than 10 edits to the Trophy template. You could have sized down the number if you previewed your edits. The Preview button is next to the Save button. Try using that so you don't fill up Recent Changes. Thanks! Berrenta (talk) 17:08, 17 July 2015 (EDT)

Actually, I couldn't. The preview button doesn't work for templates. Serpent King (talk) 22:41, 17 July 2015 (EDT)
Oh also, at that time, I was the only editor who was actually doing something, so it's not like I was clogging recent changes. Further, please make sure you know what you are talking about before calling me out on multi-editing. I'm sorry, but this is just irritating. Serpent King (talk) 22:52, 17 July 2015 (EDT)

Debug data in main stage articles

I 110% oppose this as unnecessary clutter of articles that are designed to read in a much more general, less technical format. Unless you have a very good reason why those should be there, I'm going to remove them. Miles (talk) 13:19, 4 August 2015 (EDT)

Yeah I don't know if it's the best idea to include every single debug mode stage image on every single stage page. If one of them shows off something particularly interesting, then sure, but dumping everything in at once seems like overdoing it. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Sphere 14:13, 4 August 2015 (EDT)
I can see the terrain and maybe spawn point images being useful. I believe we should at least keep those. Nyargleblargle (Talk) 14:15, 4 August 2015 (EDT)
Main article pages like those should be kept very approachable and keep technical data to a minimum; there's a reason hitbox galleries and the like are on subpages, not the main articles they're attached to. Miles (talk) 14:17, 4 August 2015 (EDT)
Fair enough. Nyargleblargle (Talk) 14:18, 4 August 2015 (EDT)
I could do subpages for each... Sorry you guys don't like it. Serpent King (talk) 18:09, 4 August 2015 (EDT)
Why does it need to be outside the debug menu pages at all? Miles (talk) 18:25, 4 August 2015 (EDT)
I thought it might be nice to have it right on the page of the stage in question. I'll admit, this was not the response I was expecting. Serpent King (talk) 18:27, 4 August 2015 (EDT)

Icons in the SSB4 AI page

So I just found out I can write {{GameIcon|ssb4}} instead of [[File:SSB4 Icon.png|16px]] to produce the icons. Since the article is now 50 KB, should I replace all [[File:SSB4 Icon.png|16px]] with {{GameIcon|ssb4}} instead? Badass Nidoking.png DracoRexKing 20:45, 7 August 2015 (EDT)

Yeah, go for it. Serpent King (talk) 21:16, 7 August 2015 (EDT)

She/he or they?

Do you think it's more appropriate to say 'she or he' (or 'he or she') or 'they' when referring to an anonymous player? - Drilly Dilly (talk) 16:10, 10 August 2015 (EDT)

They. Serpent King (talk) 19:17, 10 August 2015 (EDT)
"They" is always preferable as a gender-neutral, third-person pronoun. Miles (talk) 19:18, 10 August 2015 (EDT)
What Miles said. Serpent King (talk) 19:31, 10 August 2015 (EDT)
Regardless, that sounds improper, and simply saying 'he' is by far sexist. - Drilly Dilly (talk) 19:53, 10 August 2015 (EDT)
That's why "They" is better Serpent King (talk) 19:58, 10 August 2015 (EDT)
Meh, 'they' is good enough. Just saying 'he' when referring to an anonymous person is definitely sexist. - Drilly Dilly (talk) 21:18, 10 August 2015 (EDT)
That's what I've been saying... Serpent King (talk) 21:27, 10 August 2015 (EDT)

Sockpuppeting

Why are sockpuppet accounts bad? - Drilly Dilly (talk) 19:13, 15 August 2015 (EDT)

We don't want users circumventing probation and/or blocks by creating different accounts (among other reasons). Serpent King (talk) 21:42, 15 August 2015 (EDT)
Oh, I see. - Drilly Dilly (talk) 21:46, 15 August 2015 (EDT)

Cursing

Is it okay to curse provided we don't start flaming? - Drilly Dilly (talk) 15:12, 16 August 2015 (EDT)

As long as you're not cursing at someone (e.g. "fuck you" would not be acceptable) Serpent King (talk) 15:38, 16 August 2015 (EDT)
Although we do generally try to keep it off of our articles for the sake of professionalism (unless we are quoting). Talk pages/edit summaries are fine though. Serpent King (talk) 15:43, 16 August 2015 (EDT)
Don't worry. I know how it works. - Drilly Dilly (talk) 00:31, 18 August 2015 (EDT)

Can I ask a question?

I want to make a competency chart for Melee, Brawl, and Smash 4, without getting into millions of characters in coding. Can you give me advice if you can? Ganonmew (talk) 17:19, 17 August 2015 (EDT)

You can take the code from mine and change out the characters. Serpent King (talk) 17:21, 17 August 2015 (EDT)

Quick favor please?

I'm done with my main space for the most part, but I'm missing 3 characters from my Brawl competency chart. Can you see which characters I am missing real quick? Ganonmew (talk) 21:30, 17 August 2015 (EDT)

Yoshi, Zelda, not sure about the third. Serpent King (talk) 21:32, 17 August 2015 (EDT)

Thanks so much! I believe the last is Olimar. Ganonmew (talk) 21:41, 17 August 2015 (EDT) Oops, it's actually Peach. Being one of the most helpful and supportive users on the wiki, I put you under my influences page. Ganonmew (talk) 21:45, 17 August 2015 (EDT)

About Brian's talk page

I was not reviving a discussion perse. I was pointing out how Brian missed the point of OT's explanation. Second, I did not know it should go at the bottom because I am directing my focus to Brian's post saying OT messed up if he gets grabbed by Marth. I don't want to look like a tyrant, no pun intended, but I have my reasons for my actions. Ganonmew (talk) 08:44, 18 August 2015 (EDT)
