The Chain Jacket glitch is a glitch in Super Smash Bros. Brawl that makes Sheik replace her Chain move with the last move used previously. To perform the glitch, the player must use any move, short hop, and, in the highest part of the jump, release the chain. (It can be done without a short hop, but it is the easiest way, as the timing is dependent on how fast Sheik is falling.) If doing it with an attack with multiple hitboxes with sex kick properties, then the last hitbox that remained will become in the glitch. If it's a move with hitboxes at the same time, then parts of the chain will become a sourspot, the other part of the chain's hitbox will become the sweetspot. This glitch can sometimes make the Wii freeze.

This glitch is very similar to Ness' Yo-yo Glitch in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

If used in the Home Run Contest co-op mode, using the glitch with the home-run bat's smash, the other player being Pikachu (or another character with a move to keep the sandbag in place) constantly using their neutral attack, it is easily possible to get 300% on sandbag. Although, it becomes difficult to get a lot of distance since the home-run bat's smash attack is maximally decayed after.

Explanation

The hitboxes of Sheik's chain in Brawl behave differently than other hitboxes - they are not physically attached to the chain when they are produced, but nevertheless move around with it. This unknown unique programming, when combined with landing at a specific time during the chain's starting animation, may cause the glitch.

Trivia

 • Correctly performing the glitch without attacking prior causes the game to freeze.
