Overview
Ness stomps below himself, dealing 15% and very powerful knockback, while being a meteor smash. It's a potent edgeguarding tool, coming out quickly despite its short range. The move is especially effective with double jump cancelling and plays an important part in Ness' metagame – with his down aerial, up aerial, and some other moves such as up tilt, Ness can potentially rack up extreme damage on opponents, and it is even possible to perform zero-to-death combos on them. Tthis technique has since lost its known effectiveness in competitive play due to the short range of Ness' attacks, though it is nonetheless an excellent combo finisher and edgeguarder.
The move, when chained into itself repeatedly while double jump canceled and Z-canceled, can perform a shield break combo, though this is exceptionally difficult to perform.
