Gordo is a regular enemy in the Kirby series and is notorious for being impervious (usually) to attack. Despite what the Gordo trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl says, they have indeed been known to move, either back and forth along a set line, bouncing on the ground, or orbiting a platform.

Trophy Description

A creature that sits in one place and doesn't even try to move. They won't even budge if Kirby tries to inhale them - they're the definitive obstacle. In addition, they're covered in spikes so they damage whoever touches them. They're found stopped in groups, blocking narrow passageways, etc. Nothing's harder to get by than an encampament of Gordos.

  • Kirby: Squeak Squad

Trivia

  • If a Gordo hits an opponent's shield at the proper angle, it will continuously travel through the air in a straight path without landing or disappearing until it travels off of the screen.
  • The Subspace Army enemy Jyk is possibly based on a Gordo.
  • Gordos also appear as enemies in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins for the Game Boy. It is their only appearance outside of a Kirby or Smash game.
  • The name "Gordo" comes from the Spanish and Portuguese word for "fat".
  • Gordo made his first appearance in the game Kirby's Dream Land, in which Gordo appeared in every level other than Green Greens.
