Vandals

Please report vandalism here, with a link to the vandals contributions and pages vandalised. I will take action as soon as possible. Miles (talk) 20:13, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

68.36.202.161 -- QUICK! XD Kperfekt BURN!!! Revert That! 21:00, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

I'll throw some ideas at you for the SmashWiki user no. 2 moveset

A into A combo: Comesindoves: Throws three doves, the third one with knockback.
Forward Smash: Baltro: Hits them with the word "Baltro".
Up Smash: UPandB: Attaches a B to a stick and jams it upward.
Forward Throw: Mudkipz: Throws and splashes some water at them.
Down Throw: Depends: Throws down all letters of "Depends".
Pummel: Ike's Best Buddy: Throws all words of "We Like Ike!".
ACOFL 23:05, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Down Throw: Alex25: Throws opponent on ground and then Smashes pie in face comically.(cause he's random). Masterman 2009 02:24, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

I'd rather Be Down Taunt. Just pulling out a random Mudkip that says "Mudkip", But Foward Throw is fine, but what if instead of Splashing water all around, how about pulling out a Mudkip that shoots Water?--User:Mudkipz (talk) 01:19, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Forward Tilt: L33tSilvie: Swings the word "L33t" Downwards, and then comes back upwards with "Silvie" P.S. w00t Star Wars reference PWNS all!Silvie (talk) 01:10, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Meteor Smash

Why'd you take out Zero Suit Samus's down B as a meteor smash? Maybe you moved it to the spike article and I didn't catch it, but if that's not the case, then why shouldn't it qualify as one? Shade487z 18:05, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

'Cause ZSS is in the article immediately under Samus already. Twas redundant. Miles (talk) 22:46, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Smash Arena Votes

Something's wrong. I don't know if this is supposed to happen, but if you add #, every vote with # says 1. next to it. Isn't it supposed to be like this:

  1. I don't know how long it's been happening, but I see it in the Archived Fights, too.
  2. I don't have time to solve the problem, so you can you see whether or not it's intentional and fix it? Thanks.
  3. Wait, it isn't supposed to happen after all. It's happening here, too! Is there something wrong with MediaWiki or something?
  4. MarioGalaxyTalk 00:04, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
It'll only do that if the user/IP clicks enter and makes another space, like this:
  1. lol
  1. lolol

It's supposed to work like this:

  1. omfg
  2. ghey@@@
See? Blue NinjakoopaTalk 00:17, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
I do indeed. I've been noticing this for a while, but I don't know MediaWiki stuff enough to be able to help you. Try Sky, he knows that kind of stuff better than moi. Miles (talk) 16:53, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
OK. Thanks. MarioGalaxyTalk 22:32, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Miles..a favour

Can you teach me how to make featured articles on another wikia? On my page you'll find the link, and we've had the same featured article since the beginning. Can you email me a tutorial through Smash Wiki email this user? Thanks. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 00:42, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

THanks very much. Can you please help me figure out colours? I don't know how these codes work. On RBW, our templates are colourless. I would like to have them as a sort of salmon colour, rather than plain light blue like SmashWiki. Thanks very much. Toon Ganondorf (t c)

I'm not much of a MediaWiki expert; try Sky or C-Hawk instead. All I can recommend is this. Miles (talk) 03:48, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

ParaGoomba348

Hey Miles. ParaGoomba348 is constantly violating policies, but never accepts warnings from regular users. Since he won't listen to me, could you tell him to fix his user page? While you're at it, you could also tell him that I no longer want to be his friend, nor do I ever want to consult with him again. Every time I forgive him, he does the same thing over and over again. Thank you in advance. Blue NinjakoopaTalk 04:18, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Give me some specific policy violations, and I'll look into it. Don't violate SW:NPA yourself, and work out personal problems with him. I'm an admin, not a guidance counselor. Miles (talk) 04:21, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
...well... he... uhhh.... okay, okay. He didn't violate any policies, and if he did, he fixed it. I just asked him to lower the size of the images on his page, and he ignored me, as he ignores other regular users. Sorry. Blue NinjakoopaTalk 04:34, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Smash Arena

Just thought I'd let you know, I caught an IP address submitting multiple votes in the Smash Arena. I put a notice up, but do you want to check what I wrote? Cheers. GutripperSpeak if you are worthy

I discovered that one IP adress submitted three votes, and another submitted two. I deleted their votes, and if its okay, I'll police the voting system. GutripperSpeak if you are worthy

I concur. Keep it up. Miles (talk) 03:15, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

God, I just remembered how young you are. I keep thinking of you as same age or older than me! You're really mature. GutripperSpeak if you are worthy

Youth is no excuse for immaturity; one's mental state is one's own decision, and I like to think that people take a mature 15-year-old more seriously, so why not? Miles (talk) 03:19, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey

Have We Ever Brawled? "Handsome" Hollywood K. 23:18, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Oh. Thanks lolz. "Handsome" Hollywood K. 23:24, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

An idea

You should put up a notice on your talk page stating that you do not have brawl. This should prevent people from asking you for a brawl. Y462 (TCE ) 03:17, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps I was foolish to assume that people would read my userpage, where it says at the top that "I'VE ONLY PLAYED MELEE." Ok, without the caps, but still. I'll agree, Y462. Miles (talk) 03:21, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
On my user page and talk page, I decided to put Template:Notice. It says that I do not have Wi-fi, so people will hopefully not challenge me to a brawl. I also used that template because it is very easy to notice the template. Y462 (TCE ) 03:26, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

ON WHEELS

Is there a way you can track this vandal's IP address to prevent him from making other 'WHEEL' accounts? Also, is there autoblock? Check Wookiepedia if you don't know what I mean. There, when a user is blocked, their IP address is blocked as well. I'd also like to mention that some have mastered the art of even changing their IP addresses, leaving very little evidence that they did. O_O Blue NinjakoopaTalk 22:40, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Many internet providers have fluctuating IP addresses, so it can't always catch people like that. This vandal could also be using other locations with different IPs to create the accounts, and then access them from anywhere. I wish it were easier, but then I wouldn't have much to do, now would I? Miles (talk) 22:43, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Correct. We also can't forget about the good old proxy, now can we? Friedbeef1 1/26/09! 22:45, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

I was speaking to Fyre, and she expressed the concern that "ON WHEELS" is like a vandal craze. It could be just lots of different people using the same theme because it annoys us. Or it could be like you said, or it could be a group of friends, each being a different wheel vandal. I guess all we can do is revert, rollback and block. Toon Ganondorf (t c)

I agree...On the FE Wiki, we had two ON WHEELS on the same day. Our admin, Otherarrow, banned the IP's for eternity. Days later, another came. It's all we really can do. The sad thing is that the vandals probably know that.Silvie (talk) 22:36, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Sadly, I may have been proven wrong. L33tSilver flamed me on Nitrome Wiki claiming that he is Willy on Wheels himself.Silvie (talk) 22:47, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Admin mop image

Hey Miles. I made the Smash version of the admin mop image. Find it here. JoePlay (talk) 18:11, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

Rollback is not to be used as an all-purpose revert- reverts like this one should be performed manually, with a brief description of why the revert was performed included. I suggest you reread SW:ROLL and request that you pay closer attention to it in the future.
Thanks, --Shadowcrest 02:20, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

*drowns in the irony*
Sorry there, Shadow. Does this mean you accept that policy as it is right now? Miles (talk) 02:22, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
I missed the irony.
Cross-wiki policies confused me; that page is part of the rollback policy on GuildWiki, and I apologize for that. However, you proposed that page with the "only for vandalism" line included. Explanation? --Shadowcrest 02:28, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
You told me to follow a policy I ripped off from Wikipedia wrote myself. Thus, irony.
I purposefully took Wikipedia's terminology "blatantly unproductive" as preferable over "vandalism." Miles (talk) 02:31, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
...I still missed how that's ironic.
I quote from the last revision you made to that page ([2]), "Rollback'rs should not use their additional power to revert non-vandal edits or as part of an edit war; such behavior will likely incur a demotion as well as a ban." I am not calling for a ban or a demotion, but you have violated SW:AGF and SW:YAV by assuming that this contributor was purposefully not being constructive and belittling his comments. Make of this what you will. --Shadowcrest 02:48, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

GRR.... ~Teh Blue Blur~A revolution begins. 15:05, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

*Copied from Suggestions page

Just a comment on SA in general, and not about this suggestion, seeing that there's nowhere else to put these. Six days after this reopened, suggestions skyrocketed to two times the original amount. This needs to be stopped, which I believe that the following be implemented:

  • All suggestions must be signed, or it will be deleted.
  • A character may appear on the Suggestions forum only twice (ex. Bowser can only have two fights, max)
  • All suggestions that do not get approved will be archived a week after it was posted. Sometime after that, it will be brought back, but if not approved for the second time, it will be deleted (a record will be kept of which suggestions have been deleted)

What do you guys think? Friedbeef1 1/26/09! 21:46, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Fried Beef is one hundred percent correct. However, I don't know what we're going to do about it. Hopefully Gutripper will be on later (yes, he's back) and he'll have a suggestion. Toon Ganondorf (t c)

I thought that this was interesting, but in my sweep of the Suggestions page, I cut it out. I thought I'd leave it here for you to read and consider. GutripperSpeak

protection request

Hey, I was wondering if there should be a request to protect pages template, similar to the delete one. TBH, it'd be a lot easier than going to an admin and requesting it. Blue NinjakoopaTalk 23:06, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm up for the idea, but you can make the setup if you care about it that much. Miles (talk) 23:08, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Week 25

Ok, I've chosen the 5 fights that are gonna appear in week 25. I choose 5 because we have alot of queued fights. These 5 were queued just to let you know. So here they are:

  • Mario vs Sonic
  • Pikachu vs Kirby
  • Meta Ridley vs Meta Knight
  • Ganondorf vs Bowser
  • Zero Suit Samus vs Shiek

So what do you think? Let me know k? Squallinoa 08 (talk) 02:33, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

A-OK, IMO. Miles (talk) 02:47, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
ALRIGHT! Just be sure to NOT USE THESE FIGHTS until week 25 ok? Squallinoa 08 (talk) 02:56, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey

I know we didn't get along in the past, but I'm trying to make peace with (mostly) everyone on this wiki, so I just wanted to drop by to apologize. Also, Bot P's article needs to be deleted. Thanks. Kperfekt722 These Rules Are Stupid 23:36, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

sock puppets

User:89898989898 and User:Go, Man. These two are almost certainly sockpuppets. I can't prove it, and they haven't donw anything wrong, but I thought I should let you know. Aargh, it's too hot over here. GutripperSpeak

Accusing others of sockpuppetry is a very serious accusation. Unless you are able to provide a very convincing case, you probably shouldn't bring it up. If you believe you are correct, you can discuss it privately with others- bringing up an accusation on wiki is probably not a good idea. --Shadowcrest 15:19, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

IP blocks

It's usually not a good practice to block IP addresses for multiple months for single infractions. These are often public computers and long term blocks could prevent any number of legitimate users for accessing SmashWiki. If an IP is repeating offenses, then it is either a vandals computer and/or a proxy, at which point it is fine to unleash the ban hammer. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 21:21, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Fair enough. Do you want to just leave that ban as is, or do you want me to reduce it? Miles (talk) 21:25, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
I already took care of it. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 21:26, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Rules

The current rules for the Suggestions page are annoying me. Why does it matter if a person doesn't sign their suggestion? It is easily detectable if they made more than one suggestion. I am getting sick of reading "unsigned, could be deleted." If its a good idea, it can stay, as long as it doesn't break important rules. What does it matter otherwise. GutripperSpeak

It isn't always clear who suggested what, and we don't want to see the "one suggestion per user per week" rule broken constantly, now do we? Miles (talk) 02:15, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
It's very easy to tell, and I will enforce the rule if necessary. But every time I read "unsigned, could be deleted" it makes my blood boil with frustration. GutripperSpeak
Use Template:Unsigned then? --Shadowcrest 23:28, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
