...Okay, so maybe it is. I'm Hawk and I greatly enjoy playing Super Smash Bros. (mainly Melee and Brawl) competitively. My mains? You'll see them to the right of this page. Other characters I use other than those four in Brawl include Donkey Kong, Marth, Olimar, Luigi and (very rarely) Sonic. I do play Brawl online. I'm generally a pretty nice guy, although I do have a short temper, so don't try me.
Normally, I would have something snarky and totally off-color said here, but, eh, I've got nothin'. Welcome to my page, SmashWiki user...or administrator...or sysop...or bureaucrat...or anonymous someone who I possibly do not know or ever will know. You, my friend, have just stepped into a realm of insanity, death, torture, nonsense, and anti-politically correct irreverence for good measure. Leave now, or forever be AFK.

AHA!!! Gotcha! What I really meant was an open-arm welcome, a roaring fireplace, gentle classical music, food cooked to Gordon Ramsay's satiation, and even a comradely punch in the face, for old time's sake.

I wasn't terribly good at any one of the three Smash Bros. games until I came across this website. The information here was infinitely valuable.
Ahem. Now, then...

When I'm not playing any Smash Bros. game, I'm either drawing, playing other games, doing homework, or just hanging out with my friends.
As far as I can recall, I have been playing the Super Smash Bros. games since the first installment on Nintendo 64 was released, and what fun did we have with that awesome game! As you may or may not have known, the Internet wasn't as ubiquitous back then as it is now. No siree, Bob. Nor did we have online gaming. Unless you were gaming on your computer. Yeah. So, anyway. Uh, where was I? Oh, yeah. We didn't have no fancy online gaming on the Nintendo 64. So, often we would have to do a little thing I like to call "walking", extra controllers and, sometimes, the Super Smash Bros. cartridge in hand (because our buddies often didn't have some characters or stages unlocked) to our friends' houses or apartments.

Speaking of games, some of my other favorite non-Smash Bros. games include Gears of War 2, Star Fox 64, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Conker: Live and Reloaded.
Two years later, when retailers were first getting the Nintendo GameCube kiosks in the gaming section, we waltzed straight on over to the gaming section of our local Target or Wal-Mart whenever we would get the chance, painfully but resolutely straining our necks to see the televisions, and we first got the chance to play a snippet of Super Smash Bros. Melee. It was, more often than not, the subject of many third grade lunchroom conversations. A year later, I got a Nintendo GameCube for Christmas. Played the bejesus out of Super Mario Sunshine. And then, we got hold of some Melee. It was one of the most played games among my peers for a very long time, until...

It's difficult to define my skill in Brawl overall, considering I rarely fight any humans outside of tournaments. Although I do place decently in most tournaments (usually regionals). I suppose I can say I'm at least above average. I can pull off all the advanced techniques at will for my mains, if that means anything. I don't play Brawl on Wi-Fi except against my closest friends simply because the lag is far too much of an obstacle for me playing at even half my skill level. In fact, I think I'll just say why I chose to main said characters in Brawl to begin with.
March 9, 2008. Trekked over to the local GameStop in my nearby indoor shopping mall that one cold Sunday morning. It was nearly deserted and quiet...TOO quiet. I presented my reserve receipt and walked away with a fresh, hot-off-the-press copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When I got home, I yanked WarioWare: Smooth Moves from my Wii, viciously tore the shrink wrap off Brawl, and SLAMMED the disc into my Nintendo Wii. Okay, so maybe it wasn't that dramatic. The point is, I was exciting, and twenty-one months of waiting was finally going to pay off. I selected the Disc Channel, hit "Start", and soon I was burning through the various single-player modes of Brawl with one of my initial favorite characters -- Fox McCloud. Can't say I was disappointed. It was the main game me and some of my friends played throughout the remainder of high school until we all graduated.

Falco - At first, I never really got into his playstyle. He just felt too sluggish to me. I instead turned to Wolf, who I thought was just awesome. However, his god-awful recovery just wasn't gonna work. Eventually, I turned back to Falco, and just messed around with his playstyle. I grew more technical over time, and did well in my first Brawl tournament, placing 9 out of 49 (I lost to a really good Snake). One thing I notice is how most non-Falco players just assume all Falco really has is chaingrabbing and camping. Although those two things are constituent to his metagame, I'm inclined to disagree. His follow-up ability alone gets me through most matches. And this is in tournaments. All in all, he's my best character by far...when I'm not sandbagging. If there is anything I don't like about Falco, it has to be his super-gimpable recovery and the need to get your opponent to, like, 529% and land a back-air/spike to KO them.
Fast forward to today, and pretty much everyone who uses this site, myself included, is, no doubt, eagerly waiting for some info and release dates on Super Smash Bros. 4 like starving German Shepherds in a deli. Well, nothing we can do about it except do what the Internet usually does and spectate, spectate, spectate.

Wario - Ah, the unorthodox Wario. What's not to love? Only recently did he become one of my mains. After seeing how his deceptive and unpredictable playstyle benefits him, he ousted Diddy Kong as my second main, simply because he doesn't need any gimmicks or easy-to-counter setups to KO. Also, he has the best taunts in the game, besides Captain Falcon.

King Dedede - The fat, greedy, chaingrabbing jerk from Dreamland in the flesh. I picked this guy up just for his edgeguarding ability and survivability alone. He has a hilarious chaingrab, especially against humans, as they feebly button mash and wobble their Control Stick to escape it. My favorite thing to do is get a "cheap" KO off those annoying, dumb CPUs with his back-air Wall of Pain. I also like to combo characters with his Forward Aerial "Banhammer of Justice". Also, you've gotta love his duck animation. It's like "Hey, are you done yet?"

Diddy Kong - And last but not least, here we have the nimble, combotastic Diddy Kong. Not exactly the most popular character in the game - I don't know why. I mean, how can you not love a monkey who'll rip your head off after being provoked in the slightest? With that aside, I enjoy his Glide Toss follow-ups and potent D-air. It's also quite funny to taunt a frustrated opponent and watch them pathetically slip on banana peels in an attempt to exact their revenge on the energetic simian. The reason why he is no longer my main is because of is iffy recovery and slow air game, and his easy-to-counter bananas. Overall, an awesome character.

Hawk's Super Smash Bros. Colloquialisms

Here is a list of oddball names for various things in the Smash Bros. universe that me and some of my friends use (or used to use) on a semi-consistent basis. Just thought I'd throw these out here.

If you've played any video game starring this character for more than five minutes, you are a furry. You might also have the tendency to write terrible yaoi fan fiction.
Cool story, bro.
