Mother (マザー, Mazā), often called EarthBound Zero by fans, is a classic RPG and the first game in the Mother/EarthBound series. It set the quirky, off-beat tone and concepts for which it and its sequels, EarthBound and Mother 3, are well-known. It follows the adventures of a boy named Ninten, who is superficially similar to Ness, as he seeks to investigate a series of paranormal activities across rural America caused by the antagonistic alien conqueror Giygas (named "Giegue" in the unreleased English prototype version).
