It was founded as League of Legends team Gamers2 in February 2014 by former SK Gaming star mid-laner Carlos Rodriguez (Ocelote). By the time it rebranded as G2 Esports in November 2015, the team had already begun to branch into other games, including Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft and Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
