The Wii Sports universe (Wii スポーツ, Wii Sports) refers to the collection of stages and other properties that hail from the Wii Sports series of games.
Franchise Description
For the release of the Wii near the end of 2006, Nintendo placed the system's focus on reaching out to demographics that do not usually play video games, and Wii Sports was designed with this aim in mind by being simple and accessible enough that both first-time and long-time video game players could interact relatively equally. This game was first released in November of 2006, as a launch title bundled with the Wii. It consisted of five sports games (tennis, bowling, boxing, golf, and baseball). Players used Miis that they created on the Wii's Mii Channel in these games, and each individual Mii kept their own records as save data. As the gameplay was very simple to get into and players became active while playing, Wii Sports became fairly popular in places that video games would not normally be seen, most notably hospitals and nursing homes. In addition to this, the game has also seen use as a method of physical therapy for those recovering from strokes and injuries. Due to it’s accessibility and the fact that it was bundled as a pack in game in every Wii up to 2011, Wii Sports went on to become the best-selling video game for a single console of all time, beating Super Mario Bros at around 82 million copies. It later received a sequel, Wii Sports Resort, released in 2009. This sequel also served as the debut for the Wii MotionPlus add-on for the Wii Remote. Including 10 new sports (swordplay, wakeboarding, frisbee, archery, basketball, table tennis, air sports, power cruising, canoeing and cycling) alongside retaining bowling and golf from its predecessor, Wii Sports Resort enjoyed similar success to its predecessor, going on to sell around 32 million copies and ranks third in best selling Wii games, behind the original Wii Sports and Mario Kart Wii. In 2013, Wii Sports was remade in 2013 in HD as Wii Sports Club on the Wii U, however, this remake was eShop exclusive, and required players to rent a sport for a small fee. This remake featured online multiplayer, allowing users to play with other Wii U console owners who had the sport in question. In addition, players could join clubs, allowing groups of players to compete with other players online. It was released in disc form in 2014, removing the need for passes in order to rent a sport.

- Wuhu Island (Starter): This is a stage originating from Wii Fit, later reappearing in Wii Sports Resort, Mario Kart 7, and Pilotwings Resort. The stage flies over the island, similar to Delfino Plaza, visiting the locations of activities in Wii Sports Resort.

Instead of a Wii Remote, imagine you're holding a throwing disc in your hand. Swing it just like you would a real disc, and watch it fly across the beautiful beach. The tropical island from Wii Sports Resort is the perfect place to enjoy a few sporting activities. Go on a close tour of it by selecting the Wuhu Island stage, or get a bird's-eye view of the island with the Pilotwings stage. Just don't get too awestruck—with the stage constantly changing under your feet, you can't afford to lose focus!
