A bit of adviceEdit

Please do not take this as a warning or a harsh critique, as I am just a user who's just checking out the wiki. It seems that you edit your user page a lot and through policy SW:USER, that's a tad bit stricted, especially since the wiki is in a red zone and needs a lot of work on the mainspace. I've looked through your contributions and you've done a bit, but a lot of your edits have been on your user page. I also suggest doing your edits one at a time or editing your user page every so often as administrators will be more tough with the policy. Anyways, that's all I wanted to say, have a good day and cheers. Eletro (talk) 18:10, June 21, 2019 (EDT) Eletro (talk) 18:10, June 21, 2019 (EDT)

I am here to tell that the concept article belongs to me, before which you had copy-and-pasted as a new page 2 days before my account was ever usable. Why did you do it though? User:DreaM 15:53, August 24, 2019 (EST)

I made a mistake when I did the page. I thought the concept article was done. And also thanks for reminding me. User:Thegameandwatch

In future please try to be more careful. If you can see that a user is working on an article, don't just copy their work and make the article yourself. That's pretty blatantly plagiarism, even if it doesn't technically violate policy (which suggests an amendment might be necessary). Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 16:05, August 24, 2019 (EDT)

Ok I will not make this mistake again user:Thegameandwatch

I'm going to have the concept article back which I believe you should remove the page, so I can fill in the categories you didn't include such as the "Article in incomplete sections" from the plagiarism you've done, but I'll forgive you for today. User:DreaM

Thanks Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 16:20, August 24, 2019 (EDT)

Akira Yuki imagesEdit

Is there any specific reason that you've reinstated these images? Edits made to re-add images that were previously candidates for deletion should preferably state a reason for the reversion, either within the edit summary or on the talk page. Failure to bring reasoning to these edits puts them at risk of being reverted without notice.   Nokii — 10:16, September 4, 2019 (EDT)

Same goes with the Gen I Pokemon images. Thegameandwatch, it's important to read edit summaries left by other users, since they explain why a particular change (such as removing an image) was made. If you undo their edits without leaving a reason, then it is not constructive. If you disagree with the changes, then it is better to discuss on an article's talk page before reverting in order to avoid a potential edit war. --PeabodySam (talk) 09:52, September 7, 2019 (EDT)
This keeps happening, even after already being warned about it by myself and Nokii. You can't keep reverting edits without reason; it's not constructive to this wiki. If you don't understand why an edit was made, then please read the edit summaries first; in the case of Mechakoopa, I explained in my edit summary that the Super Mario World artwork is low quality and the New Super Mario Bros. artwork is a slightly closer match to the design used in Smash (i.e. the windup key is black). --PeabodySam (talk) 09:53, October 12, 2019 (EDT)
I will try not to do it again and if it happens, I will discuss it in the talk pages Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 11:34, October 12, 2019 (EDT)

Low effort pages and notabilityEdit

In the future, please tag low effort pages for speedy delete. The notability tag is only for those who have their notability in question, and the ones you tagged are PR'd, which counts as notability. Cookies Creme 23:58, November 28, 2019 (EST)

Removing tagsEdit

Instead of removing the tag and edit warring, can you please use the talk page instead? Thank you, it would mean a lot. 72.203.118.154 04:46, January 11, 2020 (EST)

If you want List of Rumors to be renamed to “Rumor”, do NOT remove the tag on Leak. Stop doing that. I know this isn’t your first time doing this. 99.203.10.29 16:43, February 9, 2020 (EST)

Hi so I noticed you often remove tags because you'd rather the change not be made. To clarify, as several IPs mentioned, you were continuesly removing the move tag from Leak because you wanted List of rumors to be moved instead. Now first this is in violation of SW:WAR, and second the consensus hasn't been reached for which page should be moved. Instead, use the article's talk page to discuss your reasonings for which action that should be taken, and also to support your side you may want to give more thorough reasonings other than just "I think". Thank you   OmegαToαd the Toαd Wαrrior (BUP) 09:57, March 9, 2020 (EDT)

Different page, same issue. Also, the page was moved without discussion. 72.203.118.154 03:22, April 23, 2020 (EDT)

The problem is that changing the page's name again wasn't important and the discussion hasn't discussed since early April. Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 03:29, April 23, 2020 (EDT)

Read the message I put on the talk page. The page was initially moved without a discussion. I understand it's a minor thing but a consensus was not reached before the move.   OmegαToαd64the Best Kαrter 04:10, April 23, 2020 (EDT)

Your competitive Byleth editEdit

Hi! Thank you for your contributions. But I like to ask you more about your reasoning for removing a big part of Byleth’s paragraph talking about them in competitive play. What makes you think it’s not a good time to mention player thoughts? SonDaniel   (talk page) 14:17, April 26, 2020 (EDT)

I removed it because Byleth viability was significantly affected by COVID 19 and he didn't have many pro players using him in live tournaments (when it wasn't online) with only having one permanent player who isn't even a top professional. so I could give a reason because I post it too early. Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 17:12, April 26, 2020 (EDT)
Hmm, okay. But just because a fighter does not have a permanent player who’s a top professional and doesn’t have much pro players playing the character, doesn’t mean the metagame history paragraph shouldn’t include other players’ thoughts and analyses. Those aforementioned things and how good the player who mained the character is, are unrelated. If you feel bad, I apologize. But I believe that all fighters-even completely identical clones—should have a detailed paragraph about how their competitive images had evolved to today’s metagame. I respect your reasoning, but only saying that Byleth’s viability is uncertain, is not good enough for our readers. They need thoughts and analyses as well to get a better picture. If either viability overall or thoughts of players aren’t available at the moments, we should leave the paragraph blank for now. Also, when replying, please start your comment with a colon. SonDaniel   (talk page) 21:40, April 26, 2020 (EDT)

This editEdit

You seem to have completely missed the point as to why I gave that image the deletion tag, so lemme give you a short summary:

It's not a matter of whether the image is used or not, it's a matter of whether the image should be kept or not.

I've written down my thoughts on the non-gaming media talk page, so I suggest giving that a read if you wanna understand my reasonings for the tag.  SuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle Tribe  17:07, June 10, 2020 (EDT)

Because what you said, I undid the edit I did in the image. Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 17:13, June 10, 2020 (EDT)

This other editEdit

If character viability isn't important, wouldn't it make more sense to remove completely than hide it? 72.219.72.215 02:10, June 12, 2020 (EDT)

I'm gonna need to ask you, what makes character viability "unimportant" in competitive play? Ultimate possibly having the most balanced roster is notable considering how notorious Melee and Brawl were for their bad roster balance. We even point out that how terrible the roster balance is in Brawl, what makes it a problem for Ultimate?   OmegαToαd64 06:54, June 12, 2020 (EDT)

Hi how to add a custom signatureEdit

I dont know how to add one because I can't find a good template. Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 15:57, July 8, 2020 (EDT)

how to add with image because the templates have no images Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 16:00, July 8, 2020 (EDT)
You can go to this category and save the image by drag an dropping it onto the computer, reupload the image as "Thegameandwatch signature icon" and to add it to the signature use   S3AHAWK (talk)  16:08, July 8, 2020 (EDT)
Ok Thanks Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 16:09, July 8, 2020 (EDT)
Also gonna reccomend going to preferences, and enabeling "Treat signature as wikitext".   S3AHAWK (talk)  16:14, July 8, 2020 (EDT)
It seems your new signature links to the wrong talk page, "User talk:Example" instead of "User talk:Thegameandwatch". You may want to change that. Also you don't need to retroactively change your old signature, it just ends up spamming Special:RecentChanges. --CanvasK (talk) 17:08, July 8, 2020 (EDT)

Byleth's "A-pose"Edit

No offence, but how do you even know that both Byleth genders (I think) have an A-pose? The only other character with that (who does have a source that confirms that) is Terry. Therefore, Byleth doesn't have a source confirming that s/he has an A-pose. SafariKid2 (talk) 20:57, November 23, 2020 (EST)

Here is (male) Byleth in an A-pose [1]. --CanvasK (talk) 18:08, November 28, 2020 (EST)

RevertingEdit

Since the last time this was discussed, you have yet again reverted a good faith revision without a summary, this time with your revert here. Again, unless you are reverting a clear case of vandalism, you should always state a proper reason for your reversion.

As for the edit in question, it is perfectly acceptable to refer to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U as "Super Smash Bros. 4", and is in fact named this way on virtually every page including both games in section titles and elsewhere, including the List of rumors page, hence the change to the related List of leaks page. Why did you change this?   Nokii — 21:46, December 16, 2020 (EST)

I reverted the edit   Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 06:36, December 17, 2020 (EST)

To answer your questions on this edit summaryEdit

First off, yes, you can edit that page as long as you follow the rules I provided.

Second, from what sources I could find, Bamco still owns the trademark to the Xenosaga series, despite Ninty's ownership of Monolith Soft. It's very likely that Monolith still had to get permission from Bamco to use KOS-MOS in Xenoblade 2 (and given how Bamco has helped co-develop a lot of recent Nintendo games like Smash, Mario Kart 8, and even ARMS, it probably wasn't that hard to get their approval).  SuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle Tribe  11:41, March 27, 2021 (EDT)

Pokemon official artworkEdit

Is there a reason for why you're putting in different official art for certain Pokemon besides their most recognizable, standard artwork? Some or all of the ones you just uploaded seem outright worse, like this one where Snivy's body is posed at an awkward angle. Miles (talk) 15:36, April 11, 2021 (EDT)

Regarding thisEdit

It is generally frowned upon to revert a clearly intentional and not necessarily harmful edit without providing an explanation in the edit summary, or on the editing user's talk page. In this particular instance, I simply removed unofficial lingo and replaced it with terminology that would be helpful to people who have little to no knowledge of what UNDERTALE is. Why did you undo that particular change? Sincerely, Samuel the Banjo-Kazooie Boss.   15:12, April 27, 2021 (EDT)

I thought most people who would be familiar with the term because Undertale is popular but you're right and I will unedited it unless you already did   Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 17:55, April 27, 2021 (EDT)

Signature imageEdit

As per SW:SIGN, you're aren't allowed to have animated image in you signature (File:ThegameandwatchIcon2.png). Please fix this and have a nice day. Superbound (talk) 06:21, April 28, 2021 (EDT)

Hero editsEdit

Hey, I noticed you were making edits to each of the sections on the Dragon Quest Hero's page. I'd like to remind you that clicking "edit" next to where it says "Origin" will let you access all of those sections, that way you can do all your edits on there rather than do one section at a time, thus lessening the clog on the Recent Changes page.  The Jacketed Terrapin  12:45, July 22, 2021 (EDT)

I find it harder to edit on my phone compared to my MacBook Pro which is why I made so many edits.   Thegameandwatch   The Nerd

Pokemon move origin imagesEdit

Is there a reason why you're uploading origin images from multiple gens to add to the respective move pages? We don't need 3 different images of aura sphere in the origin section. For most pages one is good enough, though in Pokemon's case it can be acceptable to upload an image from the Pokemon using it in its origin gen, and one from a more recent gen, granted it doesn't post-date Ultimate's release, yet even then it should be case by case.

Bottom line is, you we don't need more than 1 or 2 origin images on move pages.   Omega Toad, the Toad Warrior. (I'm the best!) 21:06, August 29, 2021 (EDT)

I removed the image from the page   Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 22:01, August 29, 2021 (EDT)

Sakurai Twitter PotD imagesEdit

Not that these images are inherently bad to add, but do we really need to add them to the galleries? There are a huge number of them and they don't necessarily illustrate anything that the official website pictures don't already. Miles (talk) 12:35, September 14, 2021 (EDT)

I was done adding anyway.   Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 12:39, September 14, 2021 (EDT)

GIFsEdit

If I may make a recommendation, I think it would be better if some of your GIFs had a lower resolution and a higher framerate. At least with the Melee ones you can get away with half the resolution (400x400 for example), partly because the GameCube can't output more than 640x480 and partly because readers are unlikely to care about the detail given by that resolution. With 1/2 resolution the file should be 1/4 the size, giving plenty of room for more framerate. I'd aim for 24 FPS instead of the current 12 as 12 is fairly choppy. --CanvasK (talk) 15:11, June 20, 2023 (EDT)

I shoot for something along these lines myself; strongly recommend! --  Plague von Karma  15:19, June 20, 2023 (EDT)
I will revert the Fighting Wire Frame ones but will upload naive gifs for Giga Bowser. The reason why the uploads were higher resolutions is that I forgot that it was at auto in the internal graphics settings.   Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 15:43, June 20, 2023 (EDT)
I assume whatever you're using to make the GIFs can scale them down when making them. Would be surprised if it only gives the same output resolution as input. --CanvasK (talk) 15:58, June 20, 2023 (EDT)
I try to do that next time but I am not planning on uploading gifs after this since there isn't much left outside of older Final Smashes and few moves although there are exceptions obviously.   Thegameandwatch   The Nerd 16:16, June 20, 2023 (EDT)

SW:SIGEdit

As it is right now, the first image in your signature violates the sign your comments policy, specifically the rule that the image should not be taller than 20 pixels.

In , 20px only specifies the width of the image, not the height. This is not an issue with square images, but with the image being taller than it is wide, the result ends up being ≈20×38.

You can either edit the image to have square dimensions or, if you want to keep the image as is, you can use to specify the height as 20 pixels.   Nokii · 21:17, June 21, 2023 (EDT)
