== Guides and Difficulties==
I noticed that none of the events have guides. I think guides should be added to the event pages to help the player pass them. I think there should also be guides for the reward conditions for the events in SSBU. Also, I noticed that the Subspace Emissary levels after The Plain don't really have any walkthroughs. Finally, I am planning to create pages for each of the challenges, and I want there to be guides for those as well. Of course, all those guides are too much for me to do myself, so I would like if some people helped!
About the difficulty part, I want there to be a difficulty system. For Subspace Emissary levels, for challenges, for events, and also for the reward conditions for events in SSBU. I can't do that since I don't have an account, so can someone else please create the difficulty system?

Hey SK. I've heard you were the one to go to, so here I am.I need some help with something.

Also a good way to get high quality ones if you don't have a capture card is to go into camera mode, remove help, pause and go to miiverse, post screenshot then download it from the web version https://miiverse.nintendo.net/titles/14866558073037299863/14866558073037299866 Alex Parpotta the flying lobster! 14:02, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

Question regarding a page I want to create

Hey Serp! I want to create a page about Smash Crate, basically lootcrate but for Smash. It's garnered some popularity, but I'm wondering if it would be notable enough for a creation. Please let me know your opinion. Thanks! User: Skittles03

You're free to prove that it's notable, but I have doubts. Serpent SKSig.png King 01:32, 15 August 2017 (EDT)

Competitive namespace

It's been over a month, and we've collected quite a few responses given the wiki's relative inactivity. Is it time for a resolution yet? Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 08:46, 25 October 2017 (EDT)

Serpent isn't the one running it, Toomai is. I don't feel as if we should rush this process, sure it has been going for a month now and seems pretty decisive but it should run its course and let Toomai come to a final decision when he feels its ready. BSTIK (Talk) 09:46, 25 October 2017 (EDT)

Talk page archiving.

What exactly are the rules about talk page archiving, because I'm not entirely sure how it works, and my talk page is getting really long now. Alex Parpotta the flying lobster! 18:02, 2 November 2017 (EDT)

There's no hard and fast rule about it, but it is recommended that you don't let your talk page get over 32k bytes. Personally I think 15-20 sections is a better way to judge it but that's just me. If your talk becomes obnoxiously long (it takes a long time to find the discussion one is looking for) you may be asked to archive by an admin. Uhh one other thing is that you do not archive any active sections. Instead clip around them. See Help:Archiving talk pages. Serpent SKSigHalloween.png King 21:19, 2 November 2017 (EDT)

Character-specific update lists

Hey, is there a way to edit them to update info regarding particular changes? For example, Luigi's 1.1.1 list mentions the shield mechanic-related nerfs that he indirectly received from that update. However, as far as I know, his page is the only one that follows this format, even though other characters were also noticeably affected by the same changes, such as Ryu. 104.136.200.207 17:45, 8 November 2017 (EST)

Creating smashwiki pages for local scene

Hello, you recently deleted a page I created. Is it not allowed to create smashwiki pages for the local scene? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ABAP (talkcontribs) 11:43, 21 December 2017 (EST)

  1. You are creating it in the wrong place, smasher articles go in the smasher space.
  2. No, local only players do not get articles. They have to be ranked, placed well in a regional, TOd a regional or better, or have contributed something significant to the scene.
  3. Please remember to sign your comments.

Notability

Firstly, the player in question was at the event cited on the Pokémon Trainer (SSBB) article. (He placed 41st, but that's due to the unusual bracket system that MLG uses at some of their events, and isn't much different from what the user cited in the page). Secondly, notability has never been based solely on a player's tournament placings. And saying that 33rd is "really not good enough" is dubious, considering this was at MLG Dallas 2010, a circuit final and one of the biggest Brawl events of the year, and is still among the top ten tournaments in terms of prize payout even today. Add in that Pokémon Trainer was one of the least popular characters in Brawl, and you could argue that placing 33rd with him would be something notable. Thirdly, when you remove a player from a notability section, especially a player that's been there for months without any objection, it should be on the basis that the player in question doesn't meet the qualifications for notability, not because the information listed is supposedly questionable or "isn't enough". Many of the players on these lists were added in five years ago, when the "Notable players" sections were first created, and none of these players had summaries next to their names either, yet are still considered notable. So don't remove players simply because they don't have anything next to their names, if they weren't added recently. Finally, your reversion was a blatant violation of the one revert policy. Awesome Cardinal 2000 20:05, 30 January 2018 (EST)

"Secondly, notability has never been based solely on a player's tournament placings." Not solely, but primarily.
"And saying that 33rd is "really not good enough" is dubious, considering this was at MLG Dallas 2010, a circuit final and one of the biggest Brawl events of the year" "Many of the players on these lists were added in five years ago, when the "Notable players" sections were first created" There have been several status quo changes about the notable player sections since 5 years ago. We now agree that we want to define what makes a "notable player" much more strictly.
"Thirdly, when you remove a player from a notability section, especially a player that's been there for months without any objection, it should be on the basis that the player in question doesn't meet the qualifications for notability, not because the information listed is supposedly questionable or "isn't enough"." Huh? Information with apparently no or questionable origin is to be removed and looked into, and that's that.
"Finally, your reversion was a blatant violation of the one revert policy." You asked for a reason for the reversion, I gave it to you, and it was strong enough to not warrant further discussion.
Serpent SKSig.png King 20:27, 30 January 2018 (EST)
That is an extremely poor assessment of notability. Even if notability is primarily based on tournaments, is not purely objective, and is not defined by "you must reach Xth place in a tournament to be considered notable." Notability is and has been something of subjective nature, and it's up to players experienced with the competitive community to filter these out.
In addition, "33rd is not good enough" just shows a lack of understanding of the competitive community and tournament history. At a stacked Brawl major, 33rd was considered a strong placement for a low-tier, and even a standard placing for dedicated mid-tier mains. Placing 33rd in Melee or Smash 4 today would probably be even more impressive with a low-tier character, considering the increased competition.
"Huh? Information with apparently no or questionable origin is to be removed and looked into, and that's that."
Actually read what I wrote about the history of these pages. The notable players sections for Brawl articles were written before the summary rule was put into place, and were diligently moderated by OT and other users to ensure that the players listed actually met the criteria of "notable." Most of the Brawl players are legitimate, but they don't have summaries next to them, simply because no one bothered to add them in after the rule came into effect. Removing existing players without summaries just leads to counterproductive deletion of useful, encyclopedic information, when you could be removing legitimate players without realizing it. This really shouldn't be a problem for Brawl anyways, since the game is pretty much dead and no one is spamming the sections with random players anymore.
Also, when you remove a player from the Notable players list, you're supposed to first investigate whether the player is notable or not, then remove the player once you have sufficient reasoning that concludes so. If you don't know anything about the player beyond what's listed in the summary, let someone else decide for you.
"You asked for a reason for the reversion, I gave it to you, and it was strong enough to not warrant further discussion."
"Do not revert another user's revert on an article, especially on matters of opinion. Use the talk page to reach consensus or at least a compromise before any additional revisions occur." You should have taken it to a talk page then.
Honestly, what you've said here and in the edit summary has demonstrated that you have a really poor analysis of what makes a player "notable." You should really stay away from moderating these sections, especially if you can't give any reasoning beyond "33rd is not a good enough placement." Awesome Cardinal 2000 23:58, 30 January 2018 (EST)
I really do not appreciate you lecturing me about the way this wiki should run when you have just come back from relative inactivity with no feel for how the wiki has changed whatsoever. I am not going to argue in circles with you about this, but I will tell you that an immediate change of attitude will be in order here or we are going to have some problems. Serpent SKSig.png King 00:09, 31 January 2018 (EST)
"I can't refute what you're saying, so I'll just straw-man about how you're being disrespectful and need to shut up."
Me not being here for a while means absolutely nothing regarding this debate, I still know what makes good/bad content on a wiki and I still have a good idea of what needs to belong. And based on your previous record with competitive stuff on this wiki, I think it's fair for me to say that you could learn more about what's considered notable or not. Actually respond to what I said about notability, and maybe I can agree with you.
You know, in the few interactions I've had with you, as well as from what I've seen while reading old archives, you come across as an extremely defensive person who can't stand being criticized. It seems like many times when people criticize you or go against you, you launch into comments like "This is completely inappropriate" or "I expect better behavior from you" or "You need to change your attitude." (I'm looking at that conversation between you and Poultry on the PM forum.) You don't have to listen to what I'm saying, but those are just my honest opinions of you from what I've seen. You should consider whether those are qualities you'd like to have as a bureaucrat. Awesome Cardinal 2000 01:07, 31 January 2018 (EST)

The Quest for Redemption

Hello there, how are you doing? I'm a Mario Wiki editor who's been banned there indefinitely due to violating the courtesy policy numerous times, and I'm on an adventure for redemption. Sure thing, I recommend starting by reading up on our policies first and then checking the Community portal for a list of things to do. Serpent SKSig.png King 17:09, 1 February 2018 (EST)
Also, what is it with these edits on the wiki? They are very spaced out and edits just don't happen consistently like they do on Mario Wiki. Is that just how it's always been or is it something else? I'd like to get a taste of this because I'm gonna need it if I'm gonna redeem myself. Skuchi037 (talk) 21:34, 1 February 2018 (EST)

It seems he won't take my word for it, so can you please head on over to my talk page and set the record straight with him please? I'm completely tired of having to deal with him every time I do something that HE thinks is wrong. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 00:28, 6 March 2018 (EST)

According to Black Vulpine, it was expressly stated by the administration that sell rollback was allowed. If you really think that explicitly allowing people to rollback their own edits is a good idea, you should create a new proposal on the SmashWiki:Rollback page, and add it into the policy if a consensus is reached. Awesome Cardinal 2000 01:08, 6 March 2018 (EST)

Or maybe you could just let it go as it's not that big a deal. The point of not rolling back edits is the lack of edit summary, usually only important to the person who got reverted. If that person is yourself, it really doesn't matter as much. That said it's not something that you should make a habit of. Serpent SKSig.png King 12:57, 6 March 2018 (EST)
"the lack of edit summary, usually only important to the person who got reverted"
This is a wiki, an edit summary is important to every user who goes through Recent Changes and sees the edit, not just the user who got reverted. Awesome Cardinal 2000 13:03, 6 March 2018 (EST)
I'm not saying it's good to make a habit of it, I am saying that there's not really a good reason for you to call him out on it. The reversion was very clearly not in bad faith, I am assuming that the effect that he wanted from that template didn't work out quite right. This is not important to anyone scrolling through history. Serpent SKSig.png King 13:08, 6 March 2018 (EST)
What about April Fools day when good faith users vandalize the wiki for the day, should users with rollback be able to use it when cleaning up their own mess? ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is a never lover boy 13:25, 6 March 2018 (EST)
I feel like there are a few issues with this. A lot of AFD consists of multiple users editing the same page, so rollback wouldn't be especially helpful there. Also, if a user made a good faith edit before AFD started, it would get automatically reverted as well with rollback, so more work would have to be done to restore the good faith edit. It would be better to just use restore previous or the undo button. Awesome Cardinal 2000 14:11, 6 March 2018 (EST)
The thing is, adding stuff to a page and then suddenly reverting it is inevitably going to cause questions from people looking on (if not for this case, it will eventually happen at some point), when needless confusion can be avoided if the user just took a few extra seconds to explain the situation in their edit summary. Ac2k? Stop. St. Reggie, the Iron Leprachaun Warrior 23:00, 6 March 2018 (EST)

You own the discord server?

Did someone decide to turn it over to you at some point, is it a relatively new feature, or did you set it up? St. Reggie, the Iron Leprachaun Warrior 03:26, 11 March 2018 (EDT)

It was Serpent King who set it up, and it was created to replace the now-obsolete and defunct IRC channel. What is IRC? I have no idea. That's how irrelevant it is. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 04:36, 11 March 2018 (EDT)
Oh yeah...I remember seeing a link to the IRC channel on the side box only a few months ago. St. Reggie, the Iron Leprachaun Warrior 04:53, 11 March 2018 (EDT)

Smash Arena

Should we make a new contest since the Shiek vs Greninja one has gone on for so long? St. Reggie, the Iron Leprachaun Warrior 21:56, 16 March 2018 (EDT)

To my knowledge, it's been up since December 9, over three months ago. St. Reggie, the Iron Leprachaun Warrior 21:58, 16 March 2018 (EDT)
Serpent King isn't responsible for Smash Arena - Toomai is. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 22:50, 16 March 2018 (EDT)
Oh...I didn't know only one admin managed Smash Arena. St. Reggie, the Iron Leprachaun Warrior 00:03, 17 March 2018 (EDT)
Yes indeed. But... keep in mind that the wiki is in a yellow status. You need to put some focus on the mainspace, as we're going to be less tolerant of excessive userspace and forum editing at this time. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 00:50, 17 March 2018 (EDT)
Oh, I haven't edited forum in months (outside of the comment I made on this subject a few weeks ago) but I'll keep that in mind. St. Reggie, the Iron Leprachaun Warrior 00:51, 17 March 2018 (EDT)

Guides and Difficulties

—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.6.217.5 (talkcontribs) 17:44, 12 April 2018 (EDT)

You are correct that none of the events have guides, because SmashWiki is not a strategy guide, and so guides do not belong.
Do not create pages for individual challenges. What could such a page possibly have on it aside from just its description and reward?
There is no need to artificially invent how difficult challenges or events are. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Altruistic 20:20, 12 April 2018 (EDT)
