Your top message thingyEdit

It has a typo. "I won't get discredit" is what I am talking about. 98.157.202.185 17:31, 15 January 2016 (EST)

What error? (Yes, there was an error, but I just fixed it right now. Thanks for pointing it out. DekZek   17:34, 15 January 2016 (EST)
See, " I won't get discredit" doesn't make sense. 98.157.202.185 17:35, 15 January 2016 (EST)

Project DreamEdit

can you add Tabuu to project dream? That would be Excellent! I can't do it on my own, but i would do the Ko message, taunts, on-screen appearance, being KO'd quotes. thanks! TabuuandMasterCore LA flooding (talk) 19:18, 13 March 2016 (EDT)

Lol wouldn't Tabuu be, you know, overpowered? Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~   19:32, 13 March 2016 (EDT)

Umm no, Tabuu would be as strong as Bowser, Weakened from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. also his Final Smash would be Off-Wave Barrage. TabuuandMasterCore LA flooding (talk) 20:52, 13 March 2016 (EDT) Also he would be srunk to the size of Dry Bowser from Project M.

Yo, IRCEdit

I finally found your talk page, and I must see you on IRC, please don't ask why  Swagman, the Green Swordsman   18:59, 21 March 2016 (EDT)

thanks for voting for me in the user page competition.  Swagman, the Green Swordsman   21:06, 5 April 2016 (EDT)

1. Pity Points. 2. Can you also vote for me, I am a bit behind and it would help a lot. DekZek   18:56, 6 April 2016 (EDT)

Those amiibo imagesEdit

What are they for? Serpent   King 19:34, 18 June 2016 (EDT)

Flare told me to upload them, because he couldn't make them transparent. From what he told me, they are for amiibo wishlists, for amiibo people want but don't have. DekZek   19:36, 18 June 2016 (EDT)
Indeed. Since I do my amiibo page that way, I felt those would look much better than a bunch of ugly blank spaces. Disaster Flare   (talk) 19:38, 18 June 2016 (EDT)
Yeah but that is a ton of images to be used ONLY for the userspace. Serpent   King 19:39, 18 June 2016 (EDT)
Aren't all non-Smash amiibo like that though? Disaster Flare   (talk) 19:40, 18 June 2016 (EDT)
I guess so... Serpent   King 19:42, 18 June 2016 (EDT)

thank youEdit

hey dude, thanks for your help with the spirit images!

You think maybe you could get the clean images for the Bayo spirits? It'd be greatly appreciated!
Ixbran (talk) 15:13, 11 December 2018 (EST)

They're all on the website I linked to in my uploads this one. I only found that because someone used it as their source when they did the Metroid series Spirits. I'll get to them later, or you can do them now. DekZek   15:28, 11 December 2018 (EST)

I don’t know how what you mentioned works...Edit

All I’m really trying to do is upload the right photo even if I screw up on my tiers. NinTylo (talk) 04:38, October 25, 2019 (EDT)

Deleting my previous photosEdit

Question: How exactly can I delete my previous photos that I uploaded by accident when I added in one pic after another that I forgot a specific detail or two on said tier before uploading it as a photo? --NinTylo (talk) 20:04, October 31, 2019 (EDT)

Tag the images you wish to have deleted by using the Speedy Deletion template. Since these are user images that you uploaded, you should be able to use the reason "By User Request" when you tag them for deletion. DekZek   22:15, October 31, 2019 (EDT)

Previously unused frame iconEdit

https://www.ssbwiki.com/Ness_(SSBU)/Down_throw now uses the hitbox following a throw frame icon. I've removed it from your photo stash. Hitbox Enthusiast Zeck (talk) 02:38, December 26, 2019 (EST)

Thank you. DekZek   13:18, December 26, 2019 (EST)

ProgressEdit

So... what I did was categorize all of the Spirit images from each universe. I initally intended to do EarthBound but I decided to do all of them since I had nothing else to do and generall wiki improving stuff. And also I wanted a ShiningStar. Could you elaborate on what was missing? I added the categories "Spirit (SSBU)" "Spirits X universe" and "X universe". (And ignore the furries nonsense. That's more  of an inside joke.)   OmegαToαd the Toαd Wαrrior (BUP) 22:50, April 9, 2020 (EDT)

Looking at a few of your edits at random, it seems that you missed adding Template:license-screenshot. Although since it is generally considered the default option for images without a label as per SW:IMGCOPY, there is no need to go back and add it. So I take it I can remove all of the "List of Spirits (X series)" from the uncategorized list then? DekZek   23:37, April 9, 2020 (EDT)
Well they are categorized now so there's no reason to keep it on the to-do list. If the images require some form of licencing then I'd be fine with adding them.   OmegαToαd the Toαd Wαrrior (BUP) 23:55, April 9, 2020 (EDT)

Spirit to-doEdit

In regards to your recent to-do list for renaming the spirit images, I was thinking of asking Toomai if XL had a way of making it easier, especially since it would result in a lot of userspace edits. And if that isn't possible or there is clean up needed, I'd be willing to help. I'm no stranger to mass edits, especially ones including spirits. --CanvasK (talk) 20:12, November 18, 2020 (EST)

Oh, I forgot you weren't in the Discord. I asked Toomai about it in the Discord, and they replied "It is indeed possible for XL to bulk-upload spirit images (he did sticker images the exact same way). However, I still have to manually rename every file from its internal name to set this up.". Given that manually doing this also allows for us to check the categories and also to ensure every image is ripped as opposed to just the same artwork (there might be a few stragglers), I decided it was best to do it manually. I'm only uploading 5-Volt for now to test the concept, since I needed a picture to use to test my templates, but once I know the templates work I will plan out actually doing it on scale. DekZek   20:16, November 18, 2020 (EST)
Yeah, I'm not on the Discord for personal reasons. It would've been convenient to start this when I did my mass edits last week, but hindsight is 20/20. If you'd like a hand just let me know. --CanvasK (talk) 20:24, November 18, 2020 (EST)
I understand. Actually it was your userpage that started the discussion on standardization. Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to make the template at Template:SpiritTableName work, but I'm probably missing something important. Other than what I mentioned above about standardization also allowing us to fix errors we might have glossed over, basically the only thing you missed in this discussion was Toomai suggesting the name format I'm using. It allows us to futureproof, while also being relatively intuitive to use once implemented(the only other option that was scalable was to reference by number). DekZek   20:28, November 18, 2020 (EST)
I guess I can soon delete that sub-userpage since it served its purpose. Is the template intended on being used in the mainspace? I'm not sure what the best way to handle links is as some (like Cat Princess Peach) don't link the full name or have multiple links. You could make it strict where {{{link}}} must include the proper formatting and ignore {{{Name}}} if {{{link}}} is defined. Also I'd think about putting the anchor in the same cell as the name (assuming it doesn't mess with sorting). And the only trouble with using names instead of numbers is if the spirit is renamed like with Slime or Dimitri, but that has only happened maybe 5 times (numbers get confusing if you go by pre-2.0.0 numbers). --CanvasK (talk) 20:44, November 18, 2020 (EST)
The template is intended to eventually be used in the mainspace, but I wanted to ensure its quality first. I was initially thinking of just having link be a y/n linking within SmashWiki, but now that you mention it it would probably be better to enable interwiki links somehow. I completely forgot about the anchor while making the template, but yeah it should be a part of it since it will always be the same name, given what I've seen from pages where the anchor is used it shouldn't cause any issues, but we should double-check. The reason we chose names over numbers as identifiers was because numbers would have made the whole system cumbersome to use, as pulling up an image would require referencing the lists of spirits to find the appropriate number. It's not just about pulling up the image within a template, but also for the times where an image needs to be referred to within a gallery. Also, this whole thing is likely going to take a while to properly do, I wanted to set up the framework so that I could deal with it in the future when I have less obligations. DekZek   20:59, November 18, 2020 (EST)
Something I wanted to mention before everything is set in motion is to keep in mind some spirits have different names between NTSC and PAL. Ones that come to mind are Nico Fire (NTSC) and Nico Flame (PAL) or Crispin (NTSC) and Geoff (PAL). I mainly mention this for the filenames. The differences aren't mentioned on the series lists (except at the bottom in "Series Order") but are mentioned (or should be if I caught them in the mass edit) on individual pages like Dr. Kawashima. Because the template you made doesn't end with a pipe, the differences can be appended after the template if needed; I don't see a large need to add it to the template since only 15 spirits are like this. --CanvasK (talk) 13:49, November 19, 2020 (EST)
Noted. From looking at the lists, it seems that the NTSC names are used over the PAL names in all such cases, so I think it would be better to name the spirit images by their NTSC names, and include redirects from the PAL names if necessary. DekZek   13:55, November 19, 2020 (EST)
It may be more efficient to upload all of the images and then edit pages afterwards. That way you make maybe 600 edits instead of 5-10 times that because multiple pages have multiple spirits. --CanvasK (talk) 14:34, November 19, 2020 (EST)

Agreed. Also, I (and Aidan and Miles on the discord) noticed other issues with my implementation as I was going through with it, which I'm going to fix when I do this again. Specifically, using image redirects as opposed to uploading a new image entirely since that prevents temporary redlinks. DekZek   14:47, November 19, 2020 (EST)

I assume that means uploading a new version, moving it to the proper filename, replace uses of the resulting redirect, then deleting the (now unused) redirect? --CanvasK (talk) 17:05, November 19, 2020 (EST)
Pretty much. Since when we move the file the existing redirect will prevent redlinks, we have roughly the same result but without the pages looking incomplete while they are waiting for the new picture. DekZek   18:20, November 19, 2020 (EST)
I just saw your edit attempting to add rowspan to the template. Turns out that {{SpiritTableName|Ninjara|customname=rowspan="2"{{!}}[[Ninjara]]}} works just fine. The template also doesn't handle .jpgs, but I think those can go without a template for now until a rip is gotten. --CanvasK (talk) 13:02, November 22, 2020 (EST)
Do you want to mark the cleared redirects for deletion while I check for the stragglers? --CanvasK (talk) 15:06, December 2, 2020 (EST)
Sure. I'm currently swamped with Finals now so I'm not able to help that much, but I'll do what I can. DekZek   15:20, December 2, 2020 (EST)
No worries, take your time. I can always pick up where you left off. Hope your finals go well --CanvasK (talk) 15:22, December 2, 2020 (EST)

Rather new to editing pages here :PEdit

You mentioned categories which I'm not familiar with adding objects to them. You also mentioned tabs where you can switch pose artworks between PM and P+, I'm not quite sure how to do this either. I did not intend to replace the PM poses on the character pages as I only meant to replace the renders on the P+ page. I do think having a P+ tab and PM tab above would be optimal in showing what they look like in modern PM(PPlus) and legacy PM 3.6. ~SnoeBrawler

Normally you would respond on your own talk page since that's where the conversation started but that's not really an issue, just keep it in mind for the future. To add categories to an image, you would put at the bottom of the page a link to the category. So if I were to type [[Category:Project M]] at the bottom of a page or image, then said page/image would be added to The category which contains stuff for Project M. Also, looking at the edits I realized you weren't the one responsible for changing the pictures on the PM page, an IP is making those changes. Sorry for the mixup there. Also, you sign messages on talk pages by doing ~~~~, which will become your signature when the page saves. Make sure your signature follows our signature policy, which includes having a link back to either your userpage or your talk page. DekZek   14:53, March 1, 2021 (EST)

Deletion tagEdit

A reminder that tagging a file for deletion isn't required for the file to be deleted. With a talk page discussion and such a large set of images, it's better to wait until an administrator eventually deletes them, rather than bloating Special:RecentChanges and Category:Candidates for speedy deletion with hundreds of entries.   Nokii — 13:17, June 14, 2021 (EDT)

I mentioned this in the Discord, and the response I got from SK was: "lol wut" "if the image needs deleting, tag it for deletion" "simple as that". DekZek   16:56, June 14, 2021 (EDT)
