Vandals

Please list the names/IP's of potential vandals here. Also, if possible, tell me the page(s) they vandalized so that I can verify the claim and assess the damage. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 02:20, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

24.160.129.205 vandalised the [Brawl Unlockables]] page saying you can unlock someone named "joey"... WTF? lol. Kperfekt722 (talk) 07:43, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

There is a problem on the Giga Bowser page. Someone edited the Captain Falcon section and renamed it the "captain fagot" section. There are a number of IP's that have edited the page and the section, though I cannot pick out who did it. Can you please end this stupid vandalization.--Oxico (talk) 20:39, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

86.151.161.180 seems to be... well... yeah. It's not that he is vandalising anything, but it just looks like he has bad spelling and too opinionated. I think maybe you could just tell him to check his spelling and stuff? Kperfekt722 (talk) 18:17, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

72.197.66.113 vandalised the "break through glitch" page, but i already undid it. Kperfekt722 (talk) 00:39, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Capefeather keeps on vandalizing things, by putting templates on everything that has no relevance to Smash Bros. He also made joke templates, one of them I put up for Speedy Deletion. He needs a ban. ParaGoomba348 (talk) 21:14, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

  • In my defense, I hardly call making two templates "keeps on vandalizing things", "putting templates on everything" and "joke templates". I copy-pasted from Wikipedia templates because I felt that the cleanup template would not make clear some problems along the lines of "doesn't get invincibility frames" (when you get invincibility anyway from the edge, so does that mean the invincibility stops?). I guess you disagree, so I'll leave it at that. "Template:Fix" was needed for "Template:Clarifyme" to work properly. I don't really know who this "ParaGoomba348" is, but I've been editing Wikipedia and Wikia pages for a while now and people have thanked me for it. I also would never "vandalize", never mind vandalize repeatedly as he falsely claims and exaggerates. And I certainly don't need to be banned for such a trifle. -Capefeather (talk) 21:24, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

User:Huntereagle1 keeps putting "kittens" on everything and erasing the rest. Kperfekt722 (talk) 20:58, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

88.111.78.199 was advertising links into SSBB character pages, I did revert most (if not, all) of the damage that he did. I gave him a warning. I just wanted to let you know, if he does it again. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 17:50, 29 June 2008 (UTC))

Eebrozgi and Jonttutan have made two joke Smasher articles.

(along with their respective talk pages) (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 00:00, 30 June 2008 (UTC))

With Smasher and User pages, we generally won't delete them unless there's offensive material on them. Lot's of people lie about where they live, so someone saying on Mars is at least being honest about being dishonest. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 14:59, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

User: White Bread keeps making changes to other peoples user pages, including yours. The edits are uneeded. Please tell him to stop. I'm concerned he might change my user page next. Masterman (talk) 23:03, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Facts

The fact I wrote that you removed doesn't need to be interesting. It just needs to be a FACT- which it was. I agree that the Bob-omb part was unnecessary but you shouldn't have removed the whole thing. -Schewe (talk) 03:45, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

No, facts that go on the main page do need to be interesting. The point of the main page is that it's catchy. If all our facts were just in the line of "Fox's reflector has set knockback" it would be quite boring. Only about a third of the facts that get put up remain up for more than 24 hours. We want the information to be interesting so that people have a reason to continue reading this wiki. As for your specific fact, we had something very similar a few weeks ago and it too got taken down for not being interesting. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 04:21, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I see. My apologies. -Schewe (talk) 08:33, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank You & Apology

Thanks for warning Zmario. It irritates me to no end when people think this is an image-hosting service. He removed the speedy deletion template four times on his Smash Card. I've told him again and again to upload it to an image hosting site, but he won't.

I made categories to unattended articles, yet not marking them for deletion. That just puts more work on you and the other sysops, you have my apologies. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 05:18, 28 June 2008 (UTC))

Email

I have some things I'd like to tell you/ask you. I don't want to announce it in public, so could we please discuss in email? (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 23:12, 28 June 2008 (UTC))

Opinions On Users

Wolf O'Donnell and I were discussing this issue last night. You see, Zmario, Kperfekt, and I all have a section on our user pages titled "My Opinion On Other Users". Basically, we type a user's name and describe what we think about them. However, Zmario's section got deleted by Randall, because he believed it was a form of a personal attack. However, I read Zmario's section myself, and he had nothing offensive on there. So, I turn to you in this confusing predicament. What do you believe defines a personal attack? If you simply state that you don't like someone, is that a personal attack? Was making a section of this nature a potential personal attack to begin with? - GalaxiaD (talk) 16:59, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

I've seen each of your "opinions" sections and no, they don't constitute personal attacks. However, I really don't think there necessary on this wiki either. As much as I am glad that you all think I'm a great sysop, Randall has a point that they could turn into personal attacks. Some of the comments about him in particular were quite close and I can see why he would take them as an attack at him. If you want to let users know what you think of them, use there talk pages but be respectful and polite. But for the sake of ending drama that never needed to be started, let's get rid of the "opinions on users" sections. I'll let each of you take care of it yourself. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 19:52, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Alas, their continued correspondence is riddled with personal attacks and petty name-calling--thanks for trying to mediate all this, CH, I appreciate it. But they're as good as banned as soon as I find the time. This is not a constructive environment with this garbage at the forefront and from my point of view, it'll be tough to get the wiki back on its feet unless they take a light vacation. --RJM Talk 22:08, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Randal, don't ban them yet. I'm going to issue each one of them a final message telling them to end all of this. If they do not heed it, I won't get in the way of you doing what you need to, but please let me give them this one last chance. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 01:45, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

I got your message, CH, and I posted an apology to Randall himself earlier. I've also asked my friends to not talk about him anymore, in hopes of staying on this wiki. I wouldn't want to get banned, and I assume my friends don't want that either. We'll treat him with more respect, I promise. I'm ready to move on and improve this wiki, just like you. Moreover, I just want to thank you for sticking up for us. You're a very nice person and an excellent sysop. Keep up the good work, dude. - GalaxiaD (talk) 02:09, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

well, uh first I came here to ask you if paragoomba348 (or whatever those numbers are) got banned. also, whats up? lol Kperfekt722 (talk) 19:19, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Sigh, thank you for going in there and giving us a warning, whereas Randall would have banned us on the spot... JtM (talk) 02:04, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

When I said this is over, I meant the we were not going to comment on anyone any more. Stop making comments on what Randall would've done like it's a bad thing. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 02:06, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Honest to god unrelated note

How do I reach the banned users log? i swear this has no relation to the "soap opera" that went on, but instead has to do with one of my jackass friends that i think might have vandalised this wiki. Cuz if he did imma have to go kick his ass lol. Kperfekt722 (talk) 02:17, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

When you're in the recent changes page, there's a list of logs at the top. One of them says blocks. That's the one you want. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 02:20, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Sky2042

I'm sure you're aware of the apology I posted to Randall on his talk page during the last hours of the "soap opera". However, I recently checked back to that section to see if he left a response. I saw a response, but it was instead from Sky, and he stated that my friends and I must (and I mean MUST) contribute to this wiki if we're to stay on here. He's basically forcing work upon us and stating that we're a "club" that doesn't belong here. Even though we've promised to no longer personally attack people and we've never vandalized any pages here, he's still saying he'll block us if we don't work. Granted, making contributions to this site is something we enjoy very much, but we like to converse with each other even more. That's what a TALK PAGE is for, right? I'm once again concerned that I could get banned. Overall, I just don't feel safe here anymore. - GalaxiaD (talk) 05:37, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Clarinet Hawk, I hope you don't mind if I state my opinion here. Isn't the main reason to be a user here is to contribute to the wiki? I don't think you should be banned if you're inactive, although you should do more than talk most the time. No offense.(Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 06:11, 2 July 2008 (UTC))

Oh, on another note, he said you may leave if you do not do anything to improve the wiki besides MySpace it. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 06:27, 2 July 2008 (UTC))

It's not that we don't contribute at all, it's just that we don't make that many. I recently contributed to the Groudon article today, and my friends have also made contributions here and there. I'm willing to admit that Zmario and I haven't made enough contribs to become sysops, so you can remove our applications if you wish. - GalaxiaD (talk) 06:38, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm sure Sky didn't mean that you will be banned for inactivity. What he meant is that the primary reason for being a user on this wiki is to contribute content to it. If you have occasional outside conversations with people (like wishin someone a happy birthday on their talk page), that's fine. However, creating SmashChat pages and using user talk pages like e-mail is not what this wiki is for. There are numerous free e-mail, chat room, message board, and instant messenger services avalible on the internet. If you guys want to chat, do so there. We're not going to ban you simply because you only post once a week. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 14:19, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Fail!

Once again I fail at helping. I tried to help but in the end if just ended up making more work for you sysops. Thats another good reason I want to become a sysop. I don't want to do anything bad, I just want to help like I tried to do. I want to merge page histories. I want to ban spammers. I want to do it all. Im even a featured user! But, alas, I still fail. I don't think I'm EVER going to be sysop material. Rita is right. Maybe in a few years. Zmario (talk) 17:29, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Don't take it so hard, man. I made the mistake myself a few times, even now that I am a sysop. I know that you try to help around this wiki, even if you do occasionally get on my nerves. Just keep doing what you've been doing. To be honest, it's no more work for the sysops, I just don't want you having to bother with edits that are going to get undone as part of the maintenance. Again, thanks for trying to help out. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 17:32, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Mario Circuit Problem

I took a snapshot of my view of the page. It is http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s257/jac0103/MarioCircuitProblem2.jpg?t=1215024518

One of the snapshots from the game is overlapping the template. The advertising is pushing the template down the page. That's all.

Don't worry, you did the right thing giving the warnings. I added that template so that I could seen who had been doing vandalism. I just happened to log on at the right time to catch that prick. What do you mean by "the warnings are forged?" Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 02:45, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello. I was wondering if I could create then add the text "location of anti-vandal script" to the userpage of the Anti-Vandal script? To those who use it, it would make the format much better. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 03:36, 4 July 2008 (UTC))

Blocks

Use reasons in your blocks, "Same reason as last time" "I told you to knock it off the first time" "I already told to not to do this crap. Now you get a two week vacation." are unacceptable. Use real reasons. Blocks show up on a global blacklist and when they edit somewhere else on wikia, and we lookup the ban, those kinds of reasons tell us nothing, and we just delete them. --CharitwoTalk 23:56, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Smash Cult

Yes I must agree with you on one thing: we have cluttered the recent changes with stuff on the Cult of Personality. But does stuff edited in the watercooler show up? Could we use that? Oh, and our team logo was deleted. Other crews have downright stupid images as their logos or "mascots", so why can't we have our own? The Gundam Kitty for one is a really stupid unrelated image and a crew is allowed to use that. At least ours had Smash Bros. characters on it!--Oxico (talk) 13:34, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

No, watercooler still shows up in the recent changes. I would recommend looking at a site called "proboards." I used it for a class and it worked pretty well. One person starts up the board, and the others create user names and passwords, but they all need a master password from the creator. It works just like our forums section does, except limited access means no trolls. As for your picture, I'll take a look at the situation and get back to you. We're honestly still trying to figure out what constitutes legitimate content since the merge. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 13:46, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice CH. I'll look into proboards. I like the idea of zero vandals. --Oxico (talk) 13:50, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
I made the proboards....now what? How do people join in?--Oxico (talk) 01:38, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
I honestly haven't used probards myself in over a year. There should be some kind of FAQ on the site. What I do remember is having the URL of the main area of the board that my TA created and going there to sign up. Maybe you should circulate that URL? Hey, just got back from vacation

Sorry I haven't returned your calls...my phone won't hold a charge for more than a day and a half and my charger is lost, so it's been essentially out of commission.

Good news is I'm back from vacation and we can begin to communicate via the wiki. You said you had an idea for the UISCS last I heard. Pitch it high and slow. Semicolon (talk) 21:02, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about not being there...I usually log onto the wiki once a day so I didn't get the message. Plus, the woman was over. It seems complicated...but if there's a lot of back and forth, we can just use the UISCS talk page for your proposition. Semicolon (talk) 17:53, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Understood. I will get you an answer on that front as the time is fast approaching, I understand, but I need a few things. 1. The dates. 2. The times. 3. and Any relevant specifics for all proposals (me coming out/me not coming out etc.). On a different note, I expected my housing contract mail to have arrived already, and it hasn't. This is distressing to me. Have you already received it? Semicolon (talk) 01:47, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Grandfather turnips

I do not feel that this information is trivial at all. I feel that it is quite valid. Although, even if it were trivial, that would still not be grounds for deletion. Regardless of some opinions, or perhaps even policies, this in-depth information regarding one of Peach's special moves is not something that should be removed, but indulged. Zixor (talk) 01:00, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

-Hi again. It seems that someone has already deleted the page, about which I am very disheartened. There was not even any discussion, and now it's gone, seemingly without any remaining history of what was even there. I realize that we probably disagree on this particular page, but really, aside from the fact that I could have at least merged some key information with a related article, now there's no reason for another user not to just recreate the page again; as they wont even be able to read opinions on why one should or shouldn't exist.

But now there is no page, nor any record of its content, and that's a problem. I am really quite distraught about this, I have little idea how to proceed, and was very much hoping that you could offer some impartial advice. Thank you. Zixor (talk) 11:29, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

I did a google search on Grandfather turnips, and only found four mentions of it, two of witch are on archived pages on this wiki that only sysops can access. The other two times were people mentioning them on the Smash Forums, but always clarifying what they were. That's hardly a common enough name for a page. You can feel free to add the information to the turnips page, but do not recreate the page. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 22:54, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Unless I simply don't know where to find it: The information is gone, so I can not add it to another page. -While I don't appreciate your order, I thank you for your reply. Zixor (talk) 23:21, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey Hey Hey

whats up? thats all... um... ok, im lying. thats not really what i cam here for at all (but really, what is up lol), but instead, i have a rather big suggestion. seeing as how you are a sysop, i thought i would ask you before i even began to think of doing it... do you think we should have seperate articles for each characters up and down tilts and for their dash attacks? Kperfekt722 (talk) 01:23, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Do we need them? Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 01:24, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

well, no, but some of them are popular enough that they constitute there own page. Cpt Falcon has his 3rd neutral a... Kperfekt722 (talk) 04:54, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Theres already an article for that... - Hatake91 (talk) 16:02, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Jericho

It is Jericho, with an H. Like the indestructible wall in the Bible. Any way, yeah, sorry about that. I put to see how many other users would accept the name. It was used on two other pages without my interference, so I thought the name just stuck. But it's cool, you can get rid of all things referencing Jericho.--Oxico (talk) 15:06, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

hey

im working on my own flash game for ssb, is it kool if i put up an article about it? Kperfekt722 (talk) 09:46, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Templates

Wow i never though that YOU would play Mischief Makers!I was hoping you could help! Sure...But you need to have a userpage because i cant give it to you if your not an OFFCIAL user. I think you also have to wait a few days. Im not sure. But anyway okay! Welcome to the club CH! Zmario (talk) 15:08, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

My Terms

Don't do anything to my terms, I'll just get rid of the category links.Pikazilla (talk) 01:31, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

No, they have been deleted. If you want to put them on your user page (not subpages), I can't stop you. But do not recreate them or you will be banned. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 01:33, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
No one cares about them. No one will see them. Only I will see them because no one will be able to see them. They have my name on it. Besides, I have contributed alot to this wiki, I have made more important things like Smash Kingdom. I created the SmashKingdom page and many people liked it. One day, some jackass took it off for no reason. It isn't canon, but it is famous among smash fans. Remember, no one will know because they won't look for it. I won't put any category links up.
No, no, no. We are not a hosting service. Information on this wiki should be about SMASH BROS. If it's not official, it should be widely (as in more than 100 google hits) accepted. You don't just get to make your own pages about whatever the hell you feel like. Enjoy your day off, and behave yourself tomorrow. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 01:47, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

mm, if no one else can see it, why dont you just put it on microsoft word processor? personally, id rather have an overly trivial article then an overly trivial article that no1 can see... Kperfekt722 (talk) 01:44, 26 July 2008 (UTC) isn't a ban a little harsh? specially for a new guy/girl... Kperfekt722 (talk) 01:52, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Repeat offenders deserve no mercy.--Oxico (talk) 02:00, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

He's lucky to only get a day. I've been cleaning up after that user since the day I was made a sysop (and even before). Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 04:00, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

ohhhhhh, i thought he was new here. anyways, idk how to make redirect pages, so do you think that you could redirect SSBNES to [Super Smash Bros. NES]? Kperfekt722 (talk) 09:39, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

If you want to learn more about XellOs

Here's a documentary on the World Cyber Games 2005 that focuses largely of XellOs in the prime of his career. It's actually really good. Because it's National Geographic. Don't ask me why National Geographic is now profiling progamers rather than lions in the act of mating.

Mistake. Never heard of Zileas, but apparently he was a fairly well known foreigner before the Korean pro scene. He's recognized as one of the best players of the early era between '99 and '01. Still, there's the documentary if you have 40 minutes to burn. Semicolon (talk) 02:47, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

List of Meteor Smashes

Please merge the page List of Meteor Smashes. The list isn't even complete and the page is messy. Besides, all the meteor smashes are listed on the meteor smash page. If you want I can just make a redirect out of the page.--Oxico (talk) 00:38, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

You know, it's common courtesy to let someone know if you're not interested. Something besides cutting off the conversation and leaving me hanging. FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 05:51, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Redirects

No problem I gope to be able o fix alot of them. I will veer away from the merging ones. Just one question though, what if a page redirects to a talk page on which nothing has been discussed?--Oxico (talk) 15:43, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Nothing should redirect to a talk page. Ever. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 20:42, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Challenge to SLAPAHO

So you can see the details on the SLAPAHO account's messaging/comments. We were challenged but this crew is like, 10-15 people strong and they can call on more. I can't assess an average skill level, though they've lost at least one crew battle. I don't know if the 'KingofBrawl' has put this to the management (it's definitely not him) to get this approved, but if it does go down, we're going to need more players. They normally do 6x6 games, and a final it seems. We'd need some mercenaries. I know a couple players around town who are pretty decent, but I don't know how much I'd trust them in a high pressure situation, and it also wouldn't matter to them if we won or lost, and that lowers performance. If we wait until we go back to school then we face a bigger problem, because then it would you and me and maybe Palm Tree and Calista. I don't know how comfortable I'd feel recruiting from the wiki either. We could take three each, but that would be tiring. What thinks you?

Here's their page: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Super_Smash_Clan/index/

I dunno. Semicolon (talk) 22:40, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Some Things

I was a split second behind you in redirecting that page. I had an edit conflict and it was you. Any way, I wanted to discuss something. I was thinking we create a new term...True Spike. Mostly (almost always) when people talk about Spikes, they are talking about Meteor Smashes. Also, the technique Stage Spike is not really a spike, but a Meteor Smash. So I was thinking calling ACTUAL spikes True Spikes to avoid confusion. Can that be done?--Oxico (talk) 22:56, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm really not sure how we'd define that type of term. For example, would Marth's d-air in Melee not count since it can go at an almost 45 degree angle? Is it only for straight down spikes? If the answer to either of these is yes, it seems kind of wishy-washy to have the term as it would rule out some of the most effective spikes in the Melee metagame. Brawl is better about most spikes going almost straight down, but there is still a good amount of ambiguity. I would like to see some clarification made on the subject of spikes, but it's not my top priority at the moment, even in the case of clarifying terms. Don't do anything to the wiki yet, but try and come up with a clearer and more inclusive definition and I'll look into it. As for now, I'm trying to clarify some information on Sacrificial KO's. Check the Brawl FAQ's at gameFAQs in a few weeks to see what I'm up to. Let me know when you have a better definition. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 23:04, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Let me clarify what I meant. On SmashWiki the definition of a spike is a Meteor smash that cannot be meteor cancelled. Well, there are no spikes in brawl due to the fact that all former spikes can be meteor cancelled. But still, most Meteor Smashes are being refered to as spikes on many pages, despite the facts they are not really spikes. So I think the current Spike page should just become a redirect page to the Meteor Smash page and have all the Spikes on the former spike page be called True Spikes instead. Does that clarify things?--Oxico (talk) 23:12, 28 July 2008 (UTC) PS Good luck with the Sacrificial KO page...I made that page you know...me ang Gargomon251.

Thank you for understanding

I'll merge ice with the Summit stage, fire with Norfair, wind with..... ugh... you decide, and electricity with Pikachu. What I'm currently doing is adding advantages and disadvantages to stages. This is like the pros and cons of characters. Is this alright with you? OOOOOH! and another thing, what does a user have to do to become a sysop. User:Blue Ninjakoopa

aight

but just try to see it from my view. now 3 diff people wont shut up with asking me "is pacman in?" LOL! SO YOU wanna brawl? Kperfekt722 (talk) 03:47, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

umm... can't i do both? and whats with the note from semicolon calling somebody a racist? Kperfekt722 (talk) 18:22, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

THATS IT!

he did it again. ban him, NOW plz. Kperfekt722 (talk) 21:51, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

jigglypuff

mm, i see that she needed some more pro's, but her shield jump is not (and cannot by ANY means) be cosidered a pro. anyways, we need to take that off along with a few other things... Kperfekt722 (talk) 19:02, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, there are some good uses of the shield jump, but I agree that it shouldn't be under the "pros." Everything else was good, however. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 23:37, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
