Vandals

Please list the names/IP's of potential vandals here. Also, if possible, tell me the page(s) they vandalized so that I can verify the claim and assess the damage.

User:88.111.65.132 has done some major vandilism to the Meteor Smash Page. Zmario (talk) 17:34, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey Clarinet Hawk, I think this is vandalisim. On my Smash Chat page, someone left this disturbing message, right below what you said. Is it vandalisim?Amycats2 (talk) 01:17, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for getting rid of it. Man, it was annoying me!Amycats2 (talk) 03:18, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I recognize the type and language of that vandalism. S/He'll be back on a different IP, but I'll try to get him.her again when s/he does. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions)

76.232.17.249 and 68.209.147.244 have made multiple profane edits to the Link article, I can't remove all at once.. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 20:29, 26 June 2008 (UTC))

You may want to ban 71.224.116.234 for adding false information to the Jigglypuff (SSBB) article saying "ps. jigglypuff is not in brawl" in the cons section. This user may continue to attack character articles.Y462 (talk) 01:17, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Vandals on the Mother Brain page!Amycats2 (talk) 03:58, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

SSBBfan3000 keeps making articles that are already made or are featured in a page. He already made a Wirframes page and a Polygon page. Im afraid he might do Alloys next. Zmario (talk) 14:43, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

To all of you who act like vandalism is creating a "already-created" article, it isn't. Anyway, Lario123 made a profane edit regarding Wolf in the previous Did you know section. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 22:17, 27 June 2008 (UTC))

I saw that edit, and thank you for warning him. I'm going to wait and see if he heeds your warning. If he doesn't, he'll be gone. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 22:20, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Challenge... in Song!

I'm in a bind, I'm way behind, and I'm willing to make a deal. I bet you didn't know this, but I'm a skilled Brawler too. And if you care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you. You sound like a pretty good Brawler, son, but give GalaxiaD his due. I'll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul that says I'm better than you! - GalaxiaD (talk) 20:35, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

You've been playing guitar hero 3 haven't you? ( i have a user page on wikihero.) Masterman (talk) 19:22, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Or, it could just be that "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is a great song. By the way, if you want to talk to Galaxia, I'd recommend writing on his talk page. Clarinet Hawk (talk) 19:24, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Ok. Sorry. Masterman (talk) 19:28, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Why not a Wiimote of Gold? And he'll take your bet, you're gonna regret, cause he's the best there's ever been. ;P Runer5h (talk) 20:15, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Runer5h

Rules

Well, for one, I need to get my dang Wi-Fi to work! Once I get that up and running, here are the rules:

  • Stock: 3 Lives Each
  • No Items
  • Battlefield
  • No Time Limit

So, what do you say? Do you agree on these? - GalaxiaD (talk) 23:43, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Your other stage suggestions are fine with me. I can't wait to show ya what I got! - GalaxiaD (talk) 04:48, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm getting a LAN Adapter for my birthday, which is in a month. On July 2, we can play then. Yes, it is quite foolish to post a challenge when you have no way of turning Wi-Fi on at that time. I don't have an e-mail address, so that won't work. Don't worry though. I haven't forgotten about this, and I've been training all this time. When I turn on Wi-Fi, I'll let you know and give you my code. - GalaxiaD (talk) 05:17, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Photo Taking Tips

Hello. I recently came across your edit on the Photo taking tips article, didn't I already nominate for speedy deletion, though? (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 05:19, 25 May 2008 (UTC))

Oh, I thought I marked it for speedily deletion, thank for fixing it, anyway. You don't need to put a space in between a code for a template, like you did on my talk page. You can just type {{d}} or other templates, just by highlighting the template code, then clicking on the "Ignore Wiki Formatting" button . (The one with the big W with a "NO" symbol around it.)(Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 19:14, 26 May 2008 (UTC))

Hey

Hey, clarinet hawk, thanks for editing all of my pages, but what did you do to the Craq Walk page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Y46264Y (talkcontribs) 20:14, 4 June 2008

Quickstixs

Ok, I've tried to clarify the technique a bit more. I'll work on getting a video of it, but I'm not sure I have the means to get a good quality up here, but I'll try :) ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Phayz (talkcontribs) 14:27, 5 June 2008

I see you've taken it down now. What if I do provide video proof? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Phayz (talkcontribs) 09:22, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
OK, well if you ever see people using it over Wifi.... let the name come back! lol! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Phayz (talkcontribs) 09:37, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice

Sorry I didn't mean to put the trophy pages in the Smasher Category and I wont use the SmasherBeta Template anymore, thanks. =) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mafesto (talkcontribs) 02:51, 9 June 2008

Thank You for the Archive Clairnet. You are real helpful. Zmario (talk) 09:30, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Circle of pain and Pikmin blocking

I believe that your wish to Circle of pain and Pikmin blocking is not only pointless, but incorrect. You post on my talk page that the Circle of Pain is a nickname for an attack that hits on multiple sides, while Pikmin blocking is not unique to Olimar.

However, if you actually read the articles, you would see that the Circle of Pain does not describe any attack, but rather a concept of a radius (hence, *circle* of pain) around Olimar by which his fast ranged smashes give him high protection against most forms of approach.

As for Pikmin blocking not being unique to Olimar, the day you show me a video of say...Wolf spamming his lasers with the same mobility and speed as Olimar can spam his Pikmin throw and get the same defensive result is the only day in which I will concede to you.TbonePiper (talk) 19:32, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm just saying that your main problem with the articles is that they were personal nicknames and that they aren't necessary. However, isn't every smash term a personal nickname? I know for a fact that B-sticking was spawned as a personal nickname. As for them being trivial, the Circle of pain is not the same thing as "the character's range" because "the character's range" doesn't really tell me anything. Ike has a large range, but his Circle of pain is relatively pathetic due to how slow his smashes are. As for Pikmin blocking, I can't really make it any clearer how stupid it is to say that other character's can do it to. You may be able to stop a few things with say...Wolf's blaster, but its lack of range and relative lack of speed make it pointless.TbonePiper (talk) 19:42, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Please just stop arguing. Apparently it doesnt with with Wikia's standards. Stop complaining. Zmario (talk) 19:48, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
I've checked the deletion policy and nothing is evenly remotely close to being applicable to the articles. Deleting them seems senseless and pointless. It's like me saying "lets delete an article on fast-falling because every character can fast-fall"TbonePiper (talk) 20:09, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Compromise

Well since the articles have apparently have been deleted, I could simply remake them, but I see that that would solve nothing and probably just get me banned. Instead, what I'm going to do is follow common suggestions and simply reference the general concepts in Olimar's article. I can't say that I agree with the deletions, especially considering the clear similarities the articles had with articles that are apparently A-OK. However, you have authority, and I do not, and I see it as nothing but a detriment to continue this fight. As such, I've made the aforementioned adjustments to Olimar's page, will refrain from creating articles that could even be minutely interpreted as unnecessary, and apologize for my part in this whole conflict.TbonePiper (talk) 20:53, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Signature

Hello. I was wondering if I could please use the code in your signature for mine? Also, is your controller working any better? (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 23:50, 11 June 2008 (UTC))

Hello again. Thank you for the permission to use your signature code. In order to enable a signature code such as this, you must have the "Raw Signature (without automatic link)" radiobox checked in your preferences. It works for me, so it should for you. Thank you again for allowing me to use it.. Any news about the controller? (If I may ask, I'm just wondering). I apologize if you find this message rude or anything, I didn't intend for it to be that way. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 05:40, 12 June 2008 (UTC))

Snake

The guy who wrote that read this. If the box hits the Smash Ball, it evidently breaks instantly. I agree though, using a taunt to break a Smash Ball is impractical since it's basically never near the ground.–Entrea Sumatae 04:30, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, unless your opponent is off in their own little world and you think that it is somehow a good idea to use a move with limited range and a 2 second delay to break the smash ball, it's still not a pro. Thanks, though. Clarinet Hawk (talk) 04:37, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Team Taubsi

I look at the uncategorized articles, and I viewed that one about two months ago. Everytime I thought about cleaning it, it gave me a "headache". Thank you for removing that article. Your Name

Your Name always makes me think of Rawk Hawk from paper Mariio the Thousand year door. Zmario (talk) 00:25, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, I'm sorry to say that it's not at all from that. Actually, it just comes from the fact that I'm studying to be a professional clarinetist and composer at the University of Iowa. We're the Hawkeyes, so everything is GO HAWKS!!! Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 00:28, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

umm uh-oh. another edit conflict... well ike if you read this i don't think so. i think my ban was more of a warning to all of us, and in was only ten min anyways. but as for what i came here to say, i can see why you would do that hawk, and thanks for having a much cooler head about this whole thing lol, UNLIKE ME as you know hahaha! Kperfekt722 (talk) 00:48, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I concur. No matter what it takes to become a sysop, consideration for others is a trait I'll always respect. Thanks, CH. - GalaxiaD (talk) 00:56, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

{{d}} vs {{Speedy Delete}}

Why do we now have to use {{Speedy Delete}} to mark something as a speedy deletion candidate? It is much easier to use {{d}}. --Posted by Pikamander2 (Talk) at 03:57, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about that. Charitwo and I were trying to get rid of the unneeded templates and accidentally got rid of the {{d}} redirect as well. It's back up now. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 12:46, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Grats, but...

Yo chief grats on Sysop - glad to see they don't just give it to any old 'shmo However, just as a parting suggestion, I've been an avid browser through the 'candidates for deletion' section because I find that many of them are quite humorous, and I've noticed that while you tag several for deletion because they are "personal nicknames," you defend others, even though they are also personal nicknames. You can't have it both ways chief - make up your mind.75.139.118.58 07:05, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

The idea behind the no personal nicknames rule is that people can't just come up with simple techniques or other things and apply a name to it, often with no relevence or outside understanding. For example, the "Murt Marh" challenge was deleted because all it was was some crew's version of the Bowser Challenge. No one besides those in the crew either used that challenge or called Bowser Murt Marh. On the other hand, something like B-sticking can stay because it is completely descriptive of the actions performed and is used by a wide range of players. The rule of thumb is that the nickname must be either wholly descriptive and not for a trivial technique OR must be accepted by a wide range of the smash community. The exception is glitches. The discoverer (or first writer) of the glitch gets to name it. We accept that name, but understand that the smash community at large may refer to it by a different name. If this happens, we accept the name taken by the smash community at large, and still reference the name that it was first given. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 14:55, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Vandlilism

Someone vandlized the final smash page! Get him! ParaGoomba348 (talk) 00:39, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

All I see there is a bad edit, not vandalism. Also, next time use the "vandals" section at the top of my talk page. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 01:28, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

hey, I really wouldn't consider this vandalism, but more of a few bad edits, but some guy name User:Matthew huber screwed around with some of the Snake (SSBB) article, I reversed it but judging from what his userpage looks like, I think he might be somebody to keep your eye on. Just letting you know... Kperfekt722 (talk) 00:07, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

That guy already got banned early today by me for remaking the Idle Pose article for the FOURTH TIME. Anyway, thanks for the update. Next time please use my Vandals section at the top of my talk page. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 01:14, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

well yeah, but that's why i said i really wouldn't consider this vandalism LOL i got it now so ill put any more updates about this king of thing up there. Kperfekt722 (talk) 01:17, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

List of SSBB Trophies

Listen i erased most of the page and put it on the talk page. The whole page is going to be put ina table form. is that okay? If not i will revert it. Zmario (talk) 23:13, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

I would go ahead and revert it until you get the code completely written for it in table form. It's a great idea to put it in table form, but bad format is better than having to guess that it's on the talk page in the mean time. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 03:29, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Archiving

Uh, I tried to archive my talk page again, but I messed up. Think maybe you could help me out? - GalaxiaD (talk) 23:48, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

What you want to do is copy the whole source code of your current talk page and put it in a newly create page called User Talk:GalaxiaD/Archive 2. After you create that page, go ahead and blank your current talk page and insert the Archive code that I placed in your first archive. Make sure to add in the number 2 so that it has links to both of the archives. Go ahead and give it a shot. If anything goes wrong, I'll make sure it all gets back to the way it should be. Think of it as a good way to learn wiki code. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 03:32, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

uhhh

I'm glad you talked to randall about all that stuff, but i don't think that zmario & galaxiad will take too kindly to him deleting it. were they banned? ever since the article was deleted i havent seen them... Kperfekt722 (talk) 01:33, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't see anything about them being banned in the logs. As long as they keep their heads, I'll make sure no one gets banned for simply arguing their side. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 01:36, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Well, this probably isn't needed, but..thanks for blocking those IP addresses. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 06:15, 27 June 2008 (UTC))

Where Should Deletion Discussions Occur?

The Deletion template says "Please discuss this nomination at SmashWiki:Candidates for deletion" yet you started a discussion on the talk page. This is confusing to a new editor. Wherever the de facto standard for discussing deletes is should be made clear and explicit. Ryzol (talk) 18:05, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Either one of the places is fine. Most sysops (myself included) check both pages when deciding to delete articles. The more common one is on the article's talk page, but some users prefer the category page. Really, it's whichever one you like. I'll modify the template to say so. Why did you do that. How do you now that PikaMaster913 is making an article.I was just starting that article.Don't blame it on me,cause i forgot to put the SSB references.Im also mad at you because you blocked my friend mew234 from making articles. But you won't do it on me,SUCKER.You just ticked the crap out of me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PikaMaster913 (talkcontribs) 20:59, June 27 2008

One, sign your posts when you write on a talk page. Two, Pokémon Anime got put up for deletion because it is quite trivial and had little to no relevence to Super Smash Bros. We don't have a page for the Super Mario Bros. show, and we don't need one for the Pokémon TV show. Three, forgetting to put the SSB references in an article on the smash wiki is kind of like forgetting to put the spaghetti in a pot of boiling water when you're making spaghetti. Four, your record is against you give the Dora the Explorer article you made. Five, mew234 was making joke pages and quite clearly the same as the banned account mew1 that had made some five joke pages. And six, I'm not planning to block you (yet) but don't for a minute think that I lack the power or authority to. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 21:09, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
