So someone told you they cheated in Mafia, eh?

I'd be interested to have a more thorough explanation next time you're on IRC (if you have one). Toomai Glittershine   The Interspacial 18:07, 11 December 2012 (EST)

Since I do not have access to IRC at this time, I will explain it here. On another channel that Toast, theweirdomaxim and I all frequent, theweirdomaxim had an "Aha!" moment. Only problem: He was dead, and Toast, Havoc and JamesHeart were the only people left in the game. Theweirdomaxim pointed out that I had tried to lynch Havoc several times to Toast, which ultimately led to Toast lynching JamesHeart. Later, I realized that this was technically cheating. I then confronted theweirdomaxim, who said, "Yeah... I guess I did cheat... sorry about that," implying that he now understands it's against the rules and will not do it again. Cleanup tags

Never remove them just because the person who added it didn't include a reason. If the lack of a reason bothers you, read the page and put the reason in yourself, don't remove the tag from a page that legitimately needs cleanup. Any edits of yours that were rollbacked from me are because of you removing a legitimate cleanup tag. Omega Tyrant   03:20, 18 December 2012 (EST)

Okay, but for a lot of them, I legitimately didn't see much need for cleanup. Some articles were a bit stubby, maybe, or a bit incomplete, but there are separate tags for that. For example, a lot of tags I didn't remove that were later removed by others were kept because I saw that it really needed cleanup. I'll admit that some of my edits were in the wrong, but in some others, I explained my rationale, in yet more, I just didn't see any reason for cleanup, and in still others, I was just changing an incorrect tag. I'm not trying to avoid responsibility, but I would like an explanation of why those particular edits were reverted. Air Conditioner   is your friendly neighborhood psychopath 15:00, 18 December 2012 (EST)
You didn't explain why the first one didn't need the cleanup tag, just saying "it doesn't need clean up" is not reasoning. Information being poorly organised (as the "squished together" means) is certainly something that needs cleaning up. Just because you're unable to fix it doesn't mean the page doesn't need cleaning up.
The second one, there's banter within the article that isn't really relevant, improper tense, results are not in proper format, and the ruleset is missing stuff (such as the legal counterpick stages).
The third one, notice how the tag explicitly states it's poorly written. The information there is messy and poorly organised, and should be put into table format.
Also, don't use rollover to say stuff in talk page posts. I didn't even noticed you had more to say until I went to edit here, and it just complicates seeing what you had to say. Omega Tyrant   02:31, 19 December 2012 (EST)

I wanted to ask you something

If I remember correctly, you have said before that you could only be on IRC at specific times, right? But I kinda forgot them and I sometimes wonder if you would come on #sw or not, so maybe you can clear it up for me? Thanks in advance,   PSIWolf The one and only! 11:00, 24 December 2012 (EST)

Due to my astoundingly shitty internet, I cannot access IRC on this computer. However, it's winter break now, and I will be on more frequently through my other computer. Usually, I'm on at 7PM EST during weekends, so obviously you can't come on then. However, thanks to winter break, when I'm on is now very unpredictable. Appealing my block

I frankly believe that I was unfairly blocked. For one thing, when Toomai blocked me and Bandit, Omega Tyrant already had the entire thing under control. Second, I was not violating any policy, including SW:NPA, as OT stated. Cursing is not a blockable offense. Thirdly, there was no warning given at all before the block. While I realize that giving a warning is not set in stone, because SW:BLOCK is a guideline, not a policy, I most definitely feel like a warning should have been given in this situation. (In addition, "unnecessarily rude comments" is quite vague, I'm still not 100% sure what exactly I was blocked for.) Air Conditioner   *cue dramatic music* 09:09, 31 December 2012 (EST)

Well, to quote OT, "someone lightheartedly vandalising a userpage of yours that you could easily revert is hardly reason to rage at them". And you went a little overboard with that rage. I of course can't know what Toomai thought if it, that's true. For the warning thing, you just gave no valid argument. To be precise, you actually contradicted yourself there by saying "While I realize that giving a warning is not set in stone, because SW:BLOCK is a guideline, not a policy...".--  PSIWolf The one and only! 09:24, 31 December 2012 (EST)
Warnings should be given in situations like this. This is something very minor, and a warning would have easily been sufficient. After that, I said that I still felt like a warning should have been given; after all, OT already had the thing under control, so a block was unnecessary. Try to read the whole thing, please. Air Conditioner   is your friendly neighborhood psychopath 09:29, 31 December 2012 (EST)
"OT had the whole thing under control"? Are you serious? OT giving a comment means that he has it under control? That's jsut bullshit. Though I personally do agree it was just a minor event and bandit deserves his block more than you do, if you had just gotten a warning, I should have been given one as well. Which didn't happen. I'll let Toomai, since he blocked you, or someone else handle thing this further, because my opinion on this would probably not help. I should just tell you you don't have to appeal to a block; it ain't gonna work.--  PSIWolf The one and only! 09:33, 31 December 2012 (EST)
Saying that you should have been given a warning as well is not a valid excuse. I agree that Toomai should have given you a warning as well, but that is irrelevant to this case. In addition, discussion of block appeals are generally to be limited to involved users and administrators. Also, yes, OT giving a comment means that he has it under control, as through "giving a comment," which was actually a decent compromise, he would have resolved the situation had not Toomai coincidentally blocked both Bandit and me at the same time. Air Conditioner   This part of my signature intentionally left blank. 09:38, 31 December 2012 (EST)
Saying that you should have been given a warning as well is not a valid excuse.
An excuse for what?
discussion of block appeals are generally to be limited to involved users and administrators.
This is a wiki, anyone can comment on anything. I wasn't even trying to do anything an admin should, I'm just saying you might want to stop this as they are probably going to consider is bullshit, like me. At least I gave arguments.
In addition, I still can't see how OT jumping in would have immidiately undon everything both you and Bandit did wrong.--  PSIWolf The one and only! 09:42, 31 December 2012 (EST)
I understand that this is a wiki and anyone can comment on anything, but I was just quoting a guideline. Also, OT jumping in wouldn't have "undone" anything, I meant that it would have prevented the situation from getting worse, and would have resolved the situation. There are very few things that can be undone in life. Also, when I said "excuse," I meant it wasn't a valid refuation of my argument, sorry. Air Conditioner   Who are you? 09:47, 31 December 2012 (EST)
Yeah, I get it. It would not have prevented the situation of getting worse though; the blocks you got were given to you for the rule violations you have both commited. That's why I said OT couldn't undo it, the blocks were probably still going to get handed to you. Also, I was given a block quite similar to yours and especially bandit's and I got no warning either, so please rethink that "valid refunation of your argument" thing. Also, I'll just stop this conversation here, or it might look like I was doing an admin's job.--  PSIWolf The one and only! 09:59, 31 December 2012 (EST)
"Rule violations?" OT specifically said I wasn't violating any policy, and I highly doubt the blocks were still going to get handed to me and Bandit. Just because you got no warning, again, does not mean that you or I should not have gotten any warning. And OT, I quote, was "going to cut this now before it [got] anymore out of hand," and said that Bandit would find himself "on the receiving end of a block" if he did so again, implying that a block was unnecessary in this situation. Now, I mean no offense to you, and I understand that anyone can comment, but I think this situation would be best left to Toomai or another admin. Air Conditioner   Je suis Rick Springfield. 10:04, 31 December 2012 (EST)
See my comment a mile way back. I said the excact same thing. Oh, and if a block was unnecessary, then why did I get one for almost the excact same things you two did without anyone saying it wasn't valid? I don't get it anymore either. It looks like OT and Toomai have different opinions. That does, however, not mean you should just blindly go with the one that would benefit you the most. I only repsonded to you in the first place to tell you that your fist comment was completely useless and actually rather unhelpful, yet it's still turned into some big fuss. This always happens for some reason.--  PSIWolf The one and only! 10:10, 31 December 2012 (EST)
The reason you got a block without anyone saying it wasn't valid was because you didn't bother to appeal it yourself. I've been trying to keep it from "turning into a big fuss," actually, I said multiple times that this would be best left in the hands of an admin. And I am not "blindly going with the one that would benefit [me] the most," I legitimately think that I should not have been blocked and also believe that a warning should have been given to both of us. I also think that your block was a bit too harsh, but the fact that you got blocked is irrelevant to this case. Now, please, can we wait until Toomai or some other admin makes a decision about this? Air Conditioner   B.A., M.D., LL.M., Ph.D., M.B.A., Attorney at Law 10:15, 31 December 2012 (EST)

(edit conflict x10) The primary reason you were blocked is because I was informed that not doing so would be a double standard. Compared to the recent PSIWolf block of 3 days for saying "fuck you Smash Master" directly on his userpage (which really can't be construed as anything but a personal attack), you spread your apparent (and noted uncharacteristic) rudeness over three (talk page) edits, the first of which probably deserved a one-day block by itself just for being jerkish.

Yes I probably should have given out a warning. I don't have a solid, arguable reason as to why I didn't (all I have is "because I didn't for the PSIWolf block, and all these veterans should know better") so I won't bother trying, and I'm too frustrated by all this pointless discussion going on while I'm trying to post that I don't really care right now. (This is part of why the policy tells people to stay out of these discussions.) Had I taken even more time to make the decision, I would have seen OT's post and not done anything. Frankly though I expected him to do the blocks once he showed up, part of why I went through with it in the end.

So, more specific addressing of points:

  1. I didn't notice OT had posted until it was too late. By then it would be foolish to undo things.
  2. Even ignoring the swearing I couldn't read your first post (and third post, a bit) as not a personal attack.
  3. I have no excuse for not giving a warning. Maybe I'll cut a few hours off the block(s) for it but I probably won't. I'll let other admins make that decision if they want to.

I have attempted to ignore all the discussion on this page as it has no useful information. Toomai Glittershine   The SMASH-GINEER 10:23, 31 December 2012 (EST)

PSIWolf, in regard to this comment of yours:

This is a wiki, anyone can comment on anything

While this is a Wiki, and technically anyone can edit and say something, it does not mean every talk page discussion requires your input. Read Sandvich9's talk page, and see what happens when everyone decides to chime in when they should just stay out of it. AirCon here was appealling his block, and as the blocking guidelines say that AirCon linked you, only the admins and whoever else was directly involved in the block should comment on the appeal. You are not an admin, and the only relevancy you have to this is being given a similar block a few days back. You just created additional noise, and prevented Toomai (the guy who should be addressing the appeal) from being able to actually address this. Before commenting on any talk page discussion (especially other user talkpage discussions), ask yourself if your input is required/wanted, and if your input will actually be constructive. And if it's something an admin should be replying to (like this), then don't comment at all, as your input isn't the one that is needed for the situation, and you potentially edit conflict the admin trying to reply (which happened here).

As for the bans, I was borderline on them, and I'm going to let them stand. For AirCon, he didn't directly violate any policies, but violating one isn't a necessary requirement to be banned. Yes he didn't do any personal attacks, but that doesn't mean overt, nonconstructive, and largely unprovoked rudeness/raging is acceptable. If this was AirCon's first offense, I may be willing to undo the ban, but he was banned for this before, and in my view, a warning isn't necessary when the user is committing an offense they have been banned for previously. For Bandit, he has a history of being an ass on the Wiki (and IRC), and received a long block for it not that long ago. Vandalising the userpage of another user (joke or malicious) that he was on bad terms with is just an idiotic idea, that would only serve to potentially cause a dispute with the user he vandalised the userpage of (as what happened here). Plus I would see it as rather unfair if he got away banfree while AirCon serves one. Omega Tyrant   11:40, 31 December 2012 (EST)

Wait a moment... "banned for this before?" If I remember correctly, the first time, Toomai blocked me for, and I quote, "feeding a troll," which is quite different than "unnecessarily rude comments." Air Conditioner   Come together! 15:25, 31 December 2012 (EST)
Wha? The listed ban reason from Toomai: "time out in the tongue department you two". The incident that your ban was a result of can be seen here. If there's anything regarding "trolling" there, you were trolling Smash Master, which then turned into a needless attack on him. Omega Tyrant   16:47, 31 December 2012 (EST)
I meant I asked him on IRC shortly after my first ban, "By the way, what was I banned for?" referring to the first time, and he said something along the lines of "Continuously feeding a troll with no apparent sign of stopping." Seriously, what is it that makes you people always go on and make a huge deal out of tiny things? AC didn't even tell me he left #starchat to darkfox, Toast has nothing to do with it, I might have been rude saying "shut the fuck up" to dots, but that is certainly not worth a ban. "You set fucking horrible topics" is not even directed at dots, but is just my opinion. Wow, what a big deal! Let's ban that motherfucker!
If AC had told me he left in the first place, this would not have happened. I recall dots saying he won't do it again, and I didn't want to do it either, but yet again you people turn it into some huge thing. I really, really hate that.--  PSIWolf The one and only! 02:48, 2 January 2013 (EST)
