"Newcomer" trailers

That's incorrect. Sonic's trailer, which features no newcomers, is listed there. Also, Mr. Game & Watch was recently added to Pac-Man's, and Charizard has been attached to Greninja's as long as I can remember. The name of the page is character trailers, not newcomer trailers. TheNuttyOne 17:46, 19 July 2018 (EDT)

It occurs to me that the opening sentence says "newcomers and third-party", so the page itself is inconsistent. However, sticking by that definition would exclude Charizard, which seems wrong seeing as he got a dedicated portion of the unique animation and a tagline. TheNuttyOne 17:56, 19 July 2018 (EDT)
Alright, you got me there. Go ahead and change it back (if you haven't already). Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 17:57, 19 July 2018 (EDT)

Congratulations

Look, I know this isn't the place to say it, but I just wanted to say congratulations on getting to the admin position, Aidanzapunk!  Speed48 15:51, 29 July 2018 (EDT)

I congratulate you as well, Aidan. I had two previous failed RfAs, which failed because I didn't have enough experience. You certainly do, and I believe you will do good as admin. Awesomelink234, the Super Cool Sonic Fan Leave a message if needed 17:19, 29 July 2018 (EDT)

SSBM and SSBB template improvement suggestions

see talk page if you want to see how i suggest just one small feature to change the display name: Template talk:SSBB Template talk:SSBM. Additionally, i don't think MediaWiki:Edit is needed as it changes the text "edit" to "edit this page", which makes the box longer. Conker the Squirrel (talk) 23:16, 31 July 2018 (EDT)

Also found some other redundant MediaWiki pages from [1], who is a bot from Wikia. Here's some specifics: Searchsubtitle, Noexactmatch, Fileexists, Addsection, Talk (already is "dicussion" by default i think), Tooltip-search (Wikia leftover?), Blockipsuccesstext, Logouttext, Loginsuccess, Sitestatstext, Semiprotectedpagewarning, Noimage, Yournick, Revertpage, Searchresulttext, Disambiguationspage (Special:Disambiguations isn't even a special page). Just thought these could potentially be deleted. Conker the Squirrel (talk) 23:27, 31 July 2018 (EDT)
As much as I would love to help, I'm currently out on vacation in Montana, and won't be back until Friday. In the meantime, if you have suggestions for things you cannot edit, I would recommend talking to one of the other active admins, and if it's a wiki-specific question, you should talk to the wiki creator. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 00:41, 1 August 2018 (EDT)

Those have been that way for a long time, there is no reason to get rid of them now. Why do you care? Also for the {{SSBX}} templates adding a display parameter defeats the whole purpose of the template. It's easier to just have [[Diddy Kong (SSBB)|Diddy]] at that point. Serpent   King 10:26, 1 August 2018 (EDT)

Okay, well i was just wondering opinion from a bureaucrat. I don't care that much--I just thought those didn't need to be created. Thanks for response. Conker the Squirrel (talk) 15:22, 1 August 2018 (EDT)

"the graphics don't change, the character models do. **We've already noted that, however**"

I can't find it. Where exactly does it say that? I used Ctrl + F for L button, and models, but nothing is showing up. Unowninator (talk) 11:31, 1 August 2018 (EDT)

Speed: Allows the player to alter the gameplay speed of the match, though some aspects of gameplay, such as transformation Final Smashes and stage hazards, are unaffected by this setting. The original SSB64 allows for standard speed (1x), as well as factors of 2/3x, 1/2x, and 1/4x; Melee added factors of 1.5x and 2x, though 2x speed was removed from Brawl onward. Smash 3DS also removed 1.5x speed, but added a second version of 1/2x and 1/4x where time only advances while the L button is held down (regardless of the player's control settings). Smash Wii U re-added the 1.5x speed.
There's nothing about the character models however, so you can add that part to the section. Serpent   King 11:34, 1 August 2018 (EDT)
Who said I was specifically referring to that page? Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 23:21, 1 August 2018 (EDT)

I cannot add new articles

When I try to add a new article, I get this message:

"You do not have permission to create pages, for the following reason:

I'd like to create Item pickup glitch, which is currently a red link at List of regional version differences (SSBM). I'm asking you for help, since you are an admin. Thanks. --Mugg1991 (talk) 02:42, 2 August 2018 (EDT)

You have to be autoconfirmed to do that (7 days 10 edits). Serpent   King 03:43, 2 August 2018 (EDT)
I can now add articles. I think someone granted me permission. Thanks! I have added the article Item pickup glitch. --Mugg1991 (talk) 04:48, 2 August 2018 (EDT)

Returning stages?

The notice when editing Template:News says that "playable characters and stages" are usually notable, so that should count returning stages, too, since it doesn't specifically say otherwise (although it does specifically say returning modes usually aren't notable). I also seem to recall us including returning stages leading up to SSB4. TheNuttyOne 22:33, 4 August 2018 (EDT)

In my personal opinion, whether or not a returning stage is coming back isn't really notable, because it (the stage, not the return) is something we've already covered in the past, and we just simply edit the original page to say "hey, it's coming back". It's not as big as, say, the announcement of a then-new stage based around the opening scenes of an iconic video game. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 22:47, 4 August 2018 (EDT)
The news section isn't really intended to demonstrate how much effort it takes, though? It's intended for people to easily see what has recently been announced. We already know that not every stage will be back, so casual readers are likely somewhat anxious to know whether or not their favorite stages are part of the group that is. I actually saw quite a bit of excitement around the internet that Delfino Plaza did make it back in, because it's based on Super Mario Sunshine, a very popular but often ignored game.
Also, again, the current policies have nothing against including it and actually advise towards including it. If you disagree, you should probably bring that up on a talk page somewhere rather than just deciding what should or shouldn't count as notable on your own. TheNuttyOne 22:53, 4 August 2018 (EDT)

Mii Fighter Costumes

Hi, I've got a couple of questions I'm hoping you can help me answer!

I'm planning on making a sub-page(?) for the Mii Fighter's Alternate costumes, with better images and more information. I asked about this on Talk:Alternate costume (SSB4) and got two supports, but one isn't a registered user. I already have a (very) rough draft for the new page, which I plan to put at "Mii Fighter costumes (SSB4)" eventually, but was wondering if I should make it a User page first or if that is unnessecary.

I also have a large amount of images I'd like to upload, but I've never uploaded images before, so I'm wondering how to do that properly (I know it's likely to include the "Upload image" link, but not much past that.)

Hopefully these questions make sense! AmoongussForLife  Talk 23:05, 5 August 2018 (EDT)

Personally, I would wait for more support - if you need opinions (support or opposition), I can make it known. That said, if you want the best way to give support (or opposition), then I would make it a userpage, but mark it as a draft, which makes it available for others to edit as if it were a regular page. If you get enough support via its talk page (which should be marked as a proposal), then you can ask to move it over to the mainspace, and an admin/crat will most likely get to it shortly after.
As for uploading images, the process is really simple: you click on "upload image", and then you choose the file; you can add a description to the image, which would include categories and whatnot; you would then choose the licensing, which, if you're using screenshots from Sm4sh, makes it easy to find which one you're going to want to use. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 00:47, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
Alright, thanks! I'll mark the talk page as a proposal. I've got one more question, though: since I want to upload all of these images of Mii Fighter Costumes (and there's one for each costume, so we're talking 154 distinct images), should I make them User images, upload them as standard images, or try and wait until we're sure if the page needs made? Thanks, AmoongussForLife  Talk 08:29, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
That's...not what I meant. I meant that, if you were making a userpage as a draft, you would mark that page's talk page (or, in this case, user talk page) as a proposal. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 11:00, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
As for the other question, if they're screenshots we don't have, them put them under the SSB4 Mii Fighter category. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 11:02, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
Oops, thanks for taking care of that for me! AmoongussForLife  Talk 17:55, 6 August 2018 (EDT)

Pokémon signature moves

I do look at SW:TRIVIA before I add things to the trivia pages. I try to add things that are not overly obvious.

The amount of Pokemon that currently have a signature ability is 121, but that is only 15% of the current 807. Some moves are shared among evolution lines as well. Most that have them are legendary. Only 11 Poke Ball Pokemon that do have them use them, while only 12 of the ones in Smash don't use them. (13 if you count a stage hazard) With the current 80 Poke Ball Pokemon, that is only 13.75% that have them that do use the, and 13.75% that do and don't use them. Making 28.75% in all. 71.25% makes up the rest. I did all this calculating before I attempted to change/add their trivia pages. A friend of mine confused Echoed Voice and Relic Song because Meloetta's appearance in Smash, which is what originally got me thinking of that. Some of the "Trivia" I try adding is with the idea that people reading them are Smash fans and not necessarily "Pokemon" fans (or fans of any series other than Smash). Or things that should be obvious but aren't really until someone were to point it out. If I do find something interesting, I'll usually double check my information before adding it.

Yes, meany Pokemon don't use a "signature move", but that is common knowledge to me since I'm a fan of Pokemon. If it's also common knowledge to someone else, chances are they are fans too. Not everyone plays the Smash games, but still check the Smash Wiki. I try to avoid adding things that I don't know, like competitive fighting, or from some series I'm currently not all that familiar with. It's not like there is someone I can say "Hey, do you think this is notable enough to be added to the wiki page?" every time I wanted to add aside from the "summery".

If you still think the signature moves are still not notable enough, okay. I guess they shouldn't be added then. But I do read SW:TRIVIA beforehand. (Wish it had more "Bad" examples with more details though) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.199.44.226 (talkcontribs) 01:55, 6 August 2018 (EDT)

For one, it's generally better to respond to a message left for you on your own talk page, rather than making a new section on the messenger's talk page.
For two, there's not really a point in noting that a Pokémon doesn't use its signature move; it's simply not what the developers intended on doing. Several moves can also not properly be integrated into Smash if taken directly from the source material; Hydro Pump, for example, does no damage.
This is a minor thing, but for three, it's "many", not "meany". Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 02:21, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
Sorry, I did not know if it would notify you if I answered since I don't currently have an account. Also, the "many", not "meany" was atuocorrent. I accidentally atuocorrented it when I was making sure the spelling mistakes were gone. I guess if they signature moves were to be mentioned, it would be in its bio or origin. That said, I'm not going to do that. 47.199.44.226 (talk • contribs) 03:59, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
There are ways of being notified otherwise. Also, again, minor thing, but I believe "autocorrect", not "atuocorrent", is the word you're looking for. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 10:55, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
Can I ask, when you say "Only 11 Poke Ball Pokemon that do have them use them, while only 12 of the ones in Smash don't use them.", what do you mean exactly? My understanding of it is that out of 80 Poké Ball Pokémon, 23 of them have signature moves, and of those 23, 11 of them use them in their appearance while the other 12 do not. In that case, the majority of Poké Ball Pokémon that have signature moves aren't using them, which is the opposite of "uncommon", don't you think? I know your point was that it's uncommon overall, but if a Pokémon doesn't have a signature move to use in the first place, they shouldn't really be factored in.
Additionally, I feel that it's not really about percentage so much as numbers. If there were, say, 3 Pokémon with signature moves that don't use them, that might make it a more notable fact; but when it's a number like 12, it's not really notable because even if it's a minority (which it isn't if you only count the relevant Pokémon), it's still a sizable bunch and so the point just becomes an uninteresting observation about a chunk of the group. Dr. HyperCake (talk) 07:11, 6 August 2018 (EDT)

I see your point. Maybe instead of stating whether or not a Pokémon does not use it, maybe just mentioning that "11 of the Poké Ball Pokémon use their Signature Move when summoned" on the Poké Ball's trivia page would work? Sure, it doesn't say how many have one, but it would take note how many that actually use them. Or it could say "11 out of 23"? It would say how many don't use it. What do you guys think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.199.44.226 (talkcontribs) 13:45, 6 August 2018 (EDT)

With the way you're wording it, it makes it seem like it's too specific. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 17:27, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
I think it'd be decent enough; a simple trivia point on the Poké Ball page sounds better to me compared to adding it to individual Pokémon articles. It might be better worded something like: "Of the 23 Poké Ball Pokémon that have signature moves, only 11 of them use their signature move in their appearance.". I don't think it's highly noteworthy trivia, but I don't think it's beneath mention either. Dr. HyperCake (talk) 08:33, 7 August 2018 (EDT)

Then I'll add what similar to what you said to the page then. 47.199.44.226 (talkcontribs) 09:23pm, 7 August 2018 (EDT)

"Nana follows Popo, so *unless the ICs are desynched*" (Ryu thing)

I did indeed meant that if the Ice Climbers get desynched, one way or another, I'd think Ryu would have a difficult time KOing Nana. Also, as I type this message, I realized that Ryu might also have trouble KOing a separated Luma (ie, Ryu dodges a Luma shot, and is in between Rosalina & Luma). Why exactly doesn't it belong on the article? Sorry, but I don't quite get your logic. Unowninator (talk) 21:16, 6 August 2018 (EDT)

Luma can be added, because he can be knocked away from Rosalina and won't actively try to return to her. However, most of the time, Nana is with Popo, so, realistically speaking, you wouldn't be trying to hit her from behind, since she'd be with Popo and thus turn Ryu around. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 23:12, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
Okay, and what about breakable items & opponent's Assist Trophies? (Sorry, I forgot to ask about that the first time). Thanks. Unowninator (talk) 23:35, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
Those, again, are items, not characters. They do not affect Ryu's position. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 00:06, 7 August 2018 (EDT)
Okay, just so we're clear, Ryu can't attack what's behind him, right? So let's say he's fighting Little Mac, and Little Mac gets Waluigi's assistance. If Ryu's in between the two, he can't attack Waluigi. Because that's my point from the start, and I don't know how to explain it any better than this example. Unowninator (talk) 00:16, 7 August 2018 (EDT)
Except he can, with his back aerial (which is now usable), as well as any other attack since he can reposition himself so that the character that will never be playable Waluigi is between him and Little Mac. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 01:41, 7 August 2018 (EDT)
I meant with Smash Attacks. Anyway, I give up. Unowninator (talk) 11:24, 7 August 2018 (EDT)

Edit warring on the Cloud (SSB4) and MkLeo pages

I can't access Discord due to being on a Wii U, but I figured I should point out the edit warring that's been going on in these two pages, with Raygo seemingly not having any legitimate justification for his edits (his claims that Leo is not the best Cloud due to 2017 results don't hold water considering that: 1. Leo was still the best overall Cloud player in 2017 and 2. 2017 results should be irrelevant to 2018 since the year is halfway over). PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 08:06, 8 August 2018 (EDT)

In addition, he has blatantly ignored edit summaries of me asking him to prove that Tweek's 2018 Cloud results are on par with Leo's. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 08:17, 8 August 2018 (EDT)

Ah, so that's why you didn't get the message I sent you. Very well, I'll leave it for you here: if you wouldn't mind grabbing the Twitch clip of Bear telling Lima and Zack to play the game at EVO's GFs (because I know for a fact that it got clipped) and putting it in EVO 2018's page, that'd be great.
As for the edit warring, I'll take care of that as best I can. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 08:34, 8 August 2018 (EDT)

My bad

I probably could've worded that K. Rool edit better, when I said "baseless" I meant that the picture of him pointing and smiling is an idle, as we've seen all of his taunts (The sumo stomp, belly slap, air bites.) I also removed that last part about the burying stomp as it really didn't look like a sumo stance. I wanted to post this here instead of edit warring and cluttering up the recent changes. Sorry about the misunderstanding. Dakota 952 00:15, 12 August 2018 (EDT)

The Ditto thing.

I just tested it on my 3DS; Ditto keeps its purple color upon Transforming. The system is irrelevant. Unowninator (talk) 18:44, 12 August 2018 (EDT)

The system wasn't the point I was making: I was saying that GSC used color with the Pokémon (shinies were introduced in Gen II, after all), so it would make sense that Ditto would copy the coloring in Gen II. But I will say that, after exploring Bulbapedia (since I do not have a copy of GSC), the purple color pulls from there, so that seems noteworthy. Game Genre

I'm here regarding the edit you made of Little Mac's page. When I was checking whether or not "Punch-Out!!" classified as a "fighting" game, most forums I found were really "joking" one way or the other. But if it suppose to be classified as a "sports" game, then why is the Punch-Out!! wiki listing it among "other" fighting game wikis? If you go to its wiki http://punchout.wikia.com/wiki/Punch-Out_Wiki , and go to the bottom page, it list others (Bloody Roar • Capcom • Darkstalkers • Guilty Gear • Injustice: Gods Among Us • Killer Instinct • Mortal Kombat • M.U.G.E.N • Punch-Out! • Skullgirls • SNK • Soulcalibur • Street Fighter • Super Smash Bros. • Tekken • Virtua Fighter). If its own wiki (and Wikipedia page) classifies it as a fight game, shouldn't be classified as such here? 47.199.44.226 (talkcontribs) 11:03pm, 13 August 2018 (EDT)

While I personally wouldn't take Wikia's word for anything, I would like to point out that the Punch-Out!! series page on Wikipedia lists it as a sports series, and each game in the series has sports in its genre. Some games do have fighting listed, yes, but not all of them do. Aidan, the College-Bound Rurouni 13:27, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
Okay then. I was going by the Puch-Out!! Wiki and Little Mac's game of origin's Wikipedia page though. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punch-Out!!_(NES). 47.199.44.226 (talkcontribs) 03:39pm, 13 August 2018 (EDT)

Super Smash Bros Ultimate ESRB rating

Hi there, can I ask you a question in regarding the SSBU's ESRB rating? My question is In the 2nd and 3rd game between Melee and Brawl it was rated T for Teen. So currently, the failed veterans from Melee and Brawl have returned in Smash Bros Ultimate. Is Super Smash Bros Ultimate "Rated T for Teen"? I just need to know about the rating. If the ESRB rating says SSBU is Rated T for Teen it will be just like Melee and Brawl. I am quite sure that Ultimate is rated T for Teen. If you got the answer reply me ASAP. I will forward to your answer if the T for Teen rating is confirmed by the ESRB. Thanks for your consideration. Bye. 23.16.164.112 02:37, 23 August 2018 (EDT)

Should Instant KO be a disambig?

I feel like Instant KOs are different from OHKOs, where they KO without launching. Can I please get a staff opinion on this? Unowninator (talk) 16:10, 23 August 2018 (EDT)

Question about making a signature.

So, if I wanted my signature to have two character icons (character heads) to the left and right my username (if allowed), what exactly would I do? Would I have to upload those icons as files for usage, or no?

For example, am I allowed to do this with SSBU icons (sorry about no signature for the other comment). Iridium77 (talk) 13:52, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

You technically aren't allowed to use mainspace images in a sig, but you are able to upload them separately as a duplicate file to use in your sig instead. You would change this by putting it as text in your preferences, under the signature section. Aidan, the Rurouni 16:02, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

About this

Are you referring to the voice actors and how it's not confirmed that they'll be voicing Simon in SSBU? If that's the case I apologize but I didn't add that part in - it was already there and was just trying to rephrase it. John   HUAH! 22:14, 28 August 2018 (EDT)

I was, but I wasn't referring to you; I was referring to the IP that put it up there in the first place.
Nice to see you again, by the way. Aidan, the Rurouni 23:24, 28 August 2018 (EDT)

Instant KO vs. OHKO split

Hello! I believe you've already seen my article split proposal here. The motivation behind this proposal is that we have not documented a rather significant feature of Smash 4 and Ultimate, and we have an outdated "Instant KO" redirect to "One-hit KO" even though numerous articles across the wiki use "instant KO" or "instantly KO'd" to refer to the true instant death effect I want to make this article about. Other articles awkwardly work around this by cross-referencing each other; for example, saying things like "KO'd similar to an Orne" while the Orne article says "KO'd similar to Bayonetta's Infernal Climax."

We can fix all this by just discarding the redirect and creating the new article in its place. However, since the proposal itself is largely inactive, with no formal support or opposition votes, and my attempt to tag the Instant KO redirect for deletion was reverted (by a non-admin user), I wanted to try contacting you directly.

I don't think there's any serious argument that "Instant KO" is more strongly tied to "One-hit KO" than it is the actual instant KO effect that has existed since Brawl, and been greatly expanded in Smash 4 and Ultimate. Even Smash 4 and Ultimate Nintendo Directs have used "instantly KO" when talking about Danger Zones and Death's Scythe. Therefore, I am fairly confident that consensus would validate me on this one. But I only seem to be reaching 4-ish people, most of whom are either neutral or in agreement, and only 1 of whom is deadset against the split (citing a "consensus" that seems more like a "that's the way it's always been" hand-wave than a reference to actual recent public consensus on the issue).

How can we move forward on this? SuperFalconBros (talk) 15:16, 2 September 2018 (EDT)

Well, if you want more people to notice it, perhaps you should consider bumping it, and maybe also marking it as a proposal instead of a general forum discussion. That way, people will know that it's important and not just a general conversation that they can ignore. Aidan, the Rurouni 15:54, 2 September 2018 (EDT)
I wasn't aware I needed to add a tag like that. Thank you! That said, assuming the proposal doesn't get any attention, I assume that means it's just de facto considered rejected? SuperFalconBros (talk) 23:04, 2 September 2018 (EDT)

Alternate costumes

Why are you removing alternate costumes sections from the SSBU articles, when they are present on every character article for the other games? Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 06:53, 19 September 2018 (EDT)

Because we don't keep individual renders for each costume; we have one image, in each game in the series. What was being added was completely unnecessary, and, if followed through for the official release, would have had large images covering the alts shown literally right above them, which is also kind of redundant. PSI Floating

I was not just referring to his double jump, I was referring to PSI Floating, a technique that allows Ness to recover better that is entirely removed with the re-addition of directional air dodging. 72.133.91.93 13:04, 27 September 2018 (EDT)Blueflame105

"Ryu is perfectly capable of using bair, as can be seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NXMyXkvUhk "

[2] Could you please elaborate when exactly he uses his BAIR? I watched it, but I'm somehow missing the part where he uses it. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 18:38, 27 September 2018 (EDT)

Right at the 20 second mark. That is his bair. Aidan, the Rurouni 21:20, 27 September 2018 (EDT)

Backwards glitch

Hi, here's a link to a video showcasing the "Backwards glitch" in Smash Wii U: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRGVHrJWb_E

I'm actually kinda surprised it's not on the wiki yet, thinking about creating it. Ponyshment   18:39, 28 September 2018 (EDT)

If I'm understanding correctly, I believe the section you previously had it under is the appropriate place for it. If it's a particularly common term a redirect would suffice imo; I don't think it warrants its own article. – Emmett 19:39, 28 September 2018 (EDT)

Hell Hawk

Your reason doesn't make sense to me. The Switch being region-free doesn't mean they're going to abandon localization. The game still has to be localized to English, and there's no reason for them to suddenly half-effort it. They aren't going to suddenly start leaving parts of the game untranslated, for example.

The costume's text has, ever since its introduction, been localized to "BLOOD HAWK" in the US. In Smash 4, they even specifically did it for the US, as it was left alone as "HELL HAWK" for the EU English version. I don't believe that the existence of one pre-release screenshot (which also exists on the Japanese website) is evidence that any change is being made to the localization this time.

Region-locked is when there is something preventing a game from being taken from one country to another. The Switch is region-free, which allows people to purchase games from other countries (such as the physical release of Ōkami HD that, for some inexplicable reason, is exclusive to Japan) and play them on their own consoles.
I bring this up with Falcon because, since it's region-free, there wouldn't be major things such as texture changes (i.e., "Hell Hawk"), and instead minor things such as text translations and voice clips and whatnot. But, then again, the DS was also region-free, and R.O.B. had a different appearance in Japanese Mario Kart DS, so what the hell do I know? Aidan, the Rurouni 21:57, 30 September 2018 (EDT)
Right, my point is that just because it isn't region-locked, that doesn't mean that games don't have localization. If that were the case, we'd have to be playing Switch games in Japanese since there wouldn't even be an English option. The fact that the Switch is region-free is largely unrelated from the localization of games themselves.
The texture changes are just another part of localization, and always have been. For instance, there's the Animal Crossing stages, which need the text on the buildings translated. The "BLOOD FALCON" change (which due to its nature I'd argue is more of a text-based change than a major texture one) has existed from its introduction, to match the US name in the source material. Again, I don't think that one unlocalized, pre-release screenshot is a sign that it's going to change, and I don't think the Switch being region-free reasonably implies this either.
It's my belief that due to the lack of evidence for any change to the costume, stating that it has changed on the article is speculation. It would be better to simply state nothing on the matter until either the game is released or there is compelling evidence.

About this

I disagree. Most people use Bowser Bomb on stage, but one of those IPs raised the interesting point that the grounded version is a literal setup-and-spike. At the very least, writing it down as a change without any explanation as to why is extremely confusing. I still strongly assert that having them as a sub-point is best. It should be really obvious that a move that drops you down at a high speed would mean it's likely that you're going to die offstage, which is literally what you wrote. Aidan, the Rurouni 18:15, 1 October 2018 (EDT)
I don't think it's particularly unclear that "change" refers to things that are not clear buffs or nerfs. – Emmett 18:17, 1 October 2018 (EDT)
