MLG Las Vegas 2006 was a Super Smash Bros. Melee national tournament held by Major League Gaming in Las Vegas, Nevada, during November 18th-19th, 2006. It was the final tournament in the MLG 2006 circuit, and the last time Melee was featured in an MLG circuit until MLG Anaheim 2014 nearly eight years later.

This tournament is notable for having the largest prize pool in a Melee tournament for several years, until EVO 2015, with singles and doubles having a pot of $18,000 each. At this tournament, PC Chris won the championship and received a prize check in a Melee tournament of $10,000; again, that amount was not topped until EVO 2015.

Tournament Summary

The first round saw a match between ChuDat and Isai, a match that Isai won 3-0. Though the two players had met many times since Tournament Go 6, Isai rarely won their matchup making the decisive victory notable. ChuDat then lost a match to Azen resulting in a 7th place finish. This was a noticeably disappointing placement for ChuDat considering he managed to finish top 3 at every previous event on the 2006 MLG circuit .

Losers bracket featured a rematch between Ken and Azen. The pair hadn't met in tournament since MLG New York Playoffs 2006 where Azen defeated Ken for the second time in their rivalry. Azen took the first game, but Ken rallied with 3 consecutive wins to take the match. Ken went on to beat Mew2King in losers semi-final, before losing to KoreanDJ in losers finals. Ken's 3rd place finish marked MLG Las Vegas 2006 as the first MLG finals he failed to win the singles bracket.

PC Chris rolled through the bracket defeating Azen, Isai, and KoreanDJ in both winners finals and grand finals to take the tournament. MLG Las Vegas 2006 was noteworthy for being one of the first grand finals to only feature Fox and Falco as used characters, with many players seeing it as an indicator of where the Melee meta game would be heading.
