BEST (which stands for Best Extreme Smash in Troy) is an ongoing local Melee and Brawl tournament series in Troy, New York, hosted by Zaandaa and Calm, and later additionally hosted by Trilok. The first tournament of the series was hosted on December 12, 2010, and there has been eight more tournaments hosted under the series name since, with one more planned by the end of 2012 aiming to be regional sized.

The second tournament in the BEST serious was hosted on February 27th, 2011. Entry fees were five dollars for singles with a payout of 55/30/10/5, and 10 dollars per team for doubles with a payout of 60/30/10. A Project M singles tournament was held as a side event, with a $2 entry fee and a payout of 75/25.

The third tournament in the BEST series was hosted on April 17th, 2011. There was a $5 venue fee this time, with the all money gained from the venue going to RPI's relief effort for Japan. Singles' entry fee was also raised to $10 with a 55/30/10/5 payout, though doubles remained at $10 per team with a 60/30/10 payout.

The fourth tournament in the BEST series was hosted on September 25, 2011. Singles' entry fee was lowered back to $5, with a 55/30/10/5 payout, and doubles' entry fee was $10 per team with a 60/30/10 payout. Entrants were also allowed to vote on which counterpick stages should be legal, where those that garnering half the votes of the attendees being legal. However, this lead to no significantly different stagelist, with only Pokémon Stadium garnering enough votes for Melee, and only the counterpicks in Apex's ruleset garnering enough votes in Brawl.

The sixth tournament in the BEST series was hosted on February 12, 2012. Singles' entry fee was reduced back to $5 with a payout of 55/30/10/5, and doubles' entry fee was reduced back to $10 per team with a payout of 60/30/10. A Brawl low tiers singles tournament was also held as a side event with a $1 entry and a payout of 60/30/10. None of the Brawl events were able to finish before the venue closed.
To date, this remains the largest BEST tournament, with Brawl singles having 34 entrants, the most amount of entrants in an single event in the BEST series.

The eighth tournament in the BEST series was hosted on May 5th, 2012. This tournament was more casual than the other tournaments in the series, serving mainly to get one more tournament in before RPI's semester ended. There was no doubles event, and there was a Brawl Minus singles tournament side event. There was an all access entry fee of $10 ($3 went to Melee and Brawl singles each, $2 went to Brawl Minus singles, and the remaining $2 went to food for the attendants), with the payout being 60/30/10 for all events. This tournament was also primarily hosted by Trilok, with Zaandaa taking a backseat in hosting this tournament.
