- Top players ANTi and Leffen had registered for the event but eventually did not come, while Luxembourg player LuiS was supposed to attend but was ultimately unable to due to breaking his leg.
- This marks the first tournament since the release of Ultimate to feature Super Smash Bros. for Wii U but not Brawl.
