Up tilt without jumpingEdit

Is there a way to do an Up tilt with a Wii Remote without jumping (cause the Up arrow is jump)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.136.215.124 (talkcontribs)

Yes, there is a way to do an Up tilt with a Wii Remote in Brawl without causing a jump. Press both the Up arrow and the attack button at the same time. You can see here at the Super Smash Bros DOJO!!! (the official site for Brawl). Also, remember to sign talk pages with ~~~~ so people know who you are. But then I do an Up smash instead of an Up tilt. 82.136.215.124 11:13, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
Are you using the Wii Remote+Nunchuk, or the Wii Remote alone, because in order to use a tilt without jumping or causing an Up smash, you have to tilt the Nunchuk stick slightly up in order to do a tilt.RAN1domchupunch!!99 17:48, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
I am only using the Wii Remote, and to be honest I'm beginning to think it is impossible to do an Up tilt without jumping, unless you jump first, and hold down the Up arrow, but if someone finds out a better way to do an Up tilt I would very much appreciate it if it was posted in this talk page. 82.136.215.124 11:16, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
In response to your original question: it is normally not possible to perform an Up tilt with the Wii Remote without jumping first. The only cases when it is possible is if you start holding the Up arrow when it would have no effect, e.g. if your character is in a helpless state, if they've used all their midair jumps, if they're buried, or if they're lying/sitting on the ground. You can also do it by performing an Up smash, keeping the Up arrow held down, then pressing the attack button again. This is why all professional Brawl players use GameCube Controllers. In case you're curious, here's why up-tilts fail on Wiimotes only: An up-tilt is done when the Control Stick or D-Pad is in the "up" position and the standard attack button is pressed. An up-smash is done in the same situation, except that your character is in the "I'm crouching down to get ready to jump" state. With the other three controllers, you can move the Stick up without tapping it, resulting in the ability to up-tilt (or up-air, for that matter) without jumping. You can't on the Wiimote alone. Interestingly, the other three directions on the D-Pad must be double-tapped to correspond to a tap with a Stick - Nintendo obviously thought a single-button-press jump was far more important then being able to up-tilt. However, you can change the controls. 69.107.66.62 20:26, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
