Plagerism (pre-SmashWiki merge)

This article is exactly copied-and-pasted from the same article on SmashWiki. [1]. Isn't that copyright issues since they don't share the same license? 169.139.180.100 15:57, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I'll change it so that's not identifiable. I don't think there's any copyright issue though. If I am wrong however please show me what license Smash Wiki uses because I was unable to find it. Thanks. If you do find other examples of plagiarism, we would appreciate reporting it or better yet fixing it. I admit I've copied and pasted like this in the past for the sake of introducing new articles but these were mistakes and I apologize. Bonko24 21:34, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, in SmashWiki, we're not exactly allowed copy anything from Wikia. SmashWiki runs through the Smash Boards. So I assumed that the same rules apply here from taking information from other sources. Glad I could help out though. 97.101.62.215 21:46, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Wikia site (such as this one), and Wikipedia sites can inter-copy, since they were both created by the same person (Jim Whales), or the Wikimedia Foundation. He says so in his wikipedia userpage. I think its (jimbowales) or something...but I doubt that Smash Wiki and Wikia can inter-copy since they are owned by different companies.
That is exactly correct. BTW, I'm probably beating up a dead horse, but why you guys felt the need to copy the external links exactly as they were in SmashWiki? Going as far as copying someone's spelling and grammar errors from a user that I know, is just sad. Sorry if I seem upset, but plagerising is just bad Internet etiquette. 97.101.58.211 03:33, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey guys, that anyonymous IP was me. Sorry about that. Magiciandude (talk) 04:13, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Image and Category

So, anyone know what image to put for the article? I don't know which one to use. Also, what categories does this page fit to? Magiciandude 03:38, August 15, 2007 (EDT)

I guess we should add a new category: "Collectibles", and there, we can add the 2 subcategories: "Stickers" and "Trophies".--{{SUBST:User:Darkangelsv1/sig}} -- I don't have a sig, so what? 12:44, August 15, 2007 (EDT)
make sure not to say anything about trophies in Brawl, though. it's still completely speculation at this point! FyreNWater 19:58, August 15, 2007 (EDT)

Effects

Does anyone know if stickers affect other things in Solo mode? Such as Events and Classic mode? --Zolt 05:06, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Maybe you should read the dojo again. - Gargomon251 05:42, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Move into New Page

I think we should move all the stickers into a new page labled: "List of Stickers". That way Sticker will talk about what is is and how to get them, while List of Stickers is a whole page dedicated to the Name, Game, and Effect. Zmario 10:22, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I can definitely agree with that. Also we need to keep a count of the number of stickers that are currently listed here and require anyone updating that list to also update the number as well. This will allow people who want to enter new stickers to quickly see if they have more or less than are listed here. If they have more then they definitely have stickers that are not yet listed here. This would encourage more people to add stickers since many I am sure feel a bit put off at the prospect of searching the entire list to find out they have nothing to contribute at all. As of this posting, there are 682 stickers listed, I am assuming that none listed are accidental duplicates.--Manhunter098 00:05, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
I think that printing a total is a great idea, but if it needs to be updated manually by contributors, then every so often, someone would need to verify that the total is correct. Does anyone know if MediaWiki can count the number of rows in a table? -- Blackcoat 19:47, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Im not sure if MediaWiki can, but I used Microsoft Word to tell me the number of rows, though it was a bit of a problem to actually paste it in considering the amount of content. It wouldnt be too hard though to use that to check it every couple of days or so and to encourage people to update it along with their additions.--Manhunter098 07:53, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
I double-checked in a text editor, and we have 705 stickers listed here. Is the 700 count wrong, or do we just have 5 fakes that need to be weeded out? Blackcoat 03:23, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

More Information On Sticker Effects

I think that we need a breakdown on the various types of effects stickers have that is more clearly indicative of exactly how they affect your character than just what is listed on the sticker itself. This means basically creating a section where it would be defined what exactly is meant by "Magic", "Energy", etc and explaining some attacks where definite confusion would occur as to what they would be considered. We also would need to decide what to call said section.--Manhunter098 23:41, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Good idea.-Gargomon251 01:10, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Or just amend every character's movelists to also state what kind of damage their attacks deal. --Phred 04:48, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Thinking about it that sounds like a much better idea.--24.161.233.131 06:12, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
I totally agree with that! But this would require a large amount of testing, if I'm not mistaken... MC Dirty (talk) 17:43, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Removed unverified info

I'm removing the Megavitamin, Sherrif, and White Monkey Stickers. http://heinermann.kakkoister.com/stickers/sticker.html has hacked the data for all 700 and they're not in there. Faylone 08:25, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

The White monkey is a real sticker. I believe the Megavitamin is too, but I'll have to check. 90px-WhiteMonkey.jpg -Posted by Pikamander2 (Talk) at 12:47, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Sticker -> Stickers

If the intro starts off the article with "Sickers", shouldn't the article be named "Stickers" and not "Sticker"? Logan - (Talk · Contributions) 12:11, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

No. Titles are never pluralised if the singular makes sense. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 15:05, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Red Links

Do we really need to remove red links? Logan - (Talk · Contributions) 15:57, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Creating over a hundred articles on things that only make appearances in the game as stickers doesn't seem like the best idea to me. -Posted by Pikamander2 (Talk) at 16:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Stickers gone forever?

If you use a sticker in the SSE and remove it from the trophy stand, it's gone. But is it only gone in the SSE, only in this save state of the SSE or in the whole game?

Is it possible to use a sticker in one save state of the SSE if you've already used it in another save state? These are important questions and the answers should be added to the article. I don't know the answers which is the reason why I ask. MC Dirty (talk) 17:44, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure that when you place a sticker on a trophy stand, you have just used that one sticker that you have. Removing it means that you have lost the sticker and its effects forever. Now, as long as it is on the trophy stand, you still have them, and you can move them on that trophy. Honestly, you shouldn't be able to use them on different save files, no matter what happens. So, you have 1 of that sticker, and placing it on a trophy means either it stays there, or it goes forever. I think that the history of it is there, meaning you may just see a x0. Sticker Appearance vs. Items Switch > OFF

Never contributed to a Wiki before however I was just beating up Sandbag for some stickers with all items off except Sandbag - and although Sandbag was dropping stickers, they were manifesting in stage areas I wasn't even close to. So I believe the statement on the Sticker page, "Stickers will sometimes randomly appear in normal Brawls, unless items are turned off in Item Switch." isn't accurate unless you're suggest that ALL items are turned off.. in which case I didn't play-test that. So.. sorry if I'm questioning accurate data.. just thought I'd try to help if at all possible =D

Sticker Articles

I think that each sticker does deserve (in most cases), its own individual page. Zixor (talk) 15:00, 7 March 2009 (UTC) Meh too. But that would result in a lotta pages if each one gets its own... ~Teh Blue Blur~~You're too slow!~ 15:01, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

700 to be exact (fewer if stickers covering characters that already have their own articles get merged into those articles). Still, it's a slippery slope; I can see some of those articles being well-written, but there's so many ways it could go wrong. It would also overwhelm the wiki in terms of number of articles. Miles (talk) 15:48, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
If I may propose an alternate solution, forgive my lateness to this discussion, but perhaps a compromise of sorts could be reached in that there could be a series of pages providing background on each universe's inclusive stickers, linking to a character's primary page on the wiki if they have a more substantial role? For example, a "List of EarthBound universe stickers" page would give a brief background to every EarthBound sticker-exclusive character, linking to the full pages of those who are not sticker-exclusive, and also outline each sticker's effect. Something like that, anyway.

About challanges

If you unlock a sticker by doing a challenge, do you have to do the challenge again to earn another sticker? Like lets say, the Liquid Snake trophy from Cruel Brawl, would I have to do it again to get another sticker? Learner4 (talk) 18:02, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

good set

Does someone know a good set of stickers to Meta Knight? and to Wario?--CaioNV (talk) 22:48, February 17, 2010 (UTC)

SSB4

Hey I was just sayiung. stickers aren't in ssb4 which we all know, but in the booklet (that was given to australian players who preordered the 3ds version at eb games), it mentions that you can collect stickers, which is an obvious error. shold we put this in the trivia? 124.148.96.11 01:19, 25 October 2014 (EDT)

Can you provide a scan and/or image of this booklet? If it's an official booklet from Nintendo, it could be worth mentioning, but otherwise, seller information generally isn't notable, bar some extreme circumstances.

Actually, it says it in the EGX Booklet from a few weeks ago (the left page). Rtzxy Personal use; signature, to be exact Smashing! 18:24, 26 October 2014 (EDT)

Sticker details

I've been doing testing in Dolphin along with a memory viewer and I found that the value on the sticker (stored as a float for some reason) for type resistances and attacks is divided by 2 and stored as a signed integer elsewhere. This means that the equation is technically -v/40 + 1 (or 1 - v/40 for simplicity) instead of -v/80 + 1 (no need for 81/80). I've found that stickers >=80 (resistance value of 40) results in 1% damage but 78 (resistance value of 39) follows the equation and can be less than 1%, probably to avoid 0% but this requires cheating anyways. I've also found unused values, such as 8 Carry values (Banana Peel, Gooey Bomb, Smart Bomb, Deku Nut, Hothead, Bumper, Freezie, Motion-Sensor Bomb) and several Drops values for things like Golden Hammers, Mr. Saturn, etc. around where Sticker Drops, Trophy Drops (seems to only affect random turquoise cubes), and Trophy Stand Drops are stored. I have the other memory addresses but I want to test some things first. --CanvasK (talk) 14:22, November 6, 2021 (EDT)
