Brawl Starters

What exactly is the reasoning behind the starters list in Brawl? It lists all the characters except newcomers. Why is this? Darkurai 18:00, August 20, 2007 (EDT)

That's exactly what I thought. I guess the list is based on the characters that appeared as starters in Melee. *shrugs* -- The Magnum Master 20:29, September 14, 2007 (EDT)

Does Amazon Leak mean anything?

Should we take into consideration this image? AmazonWiiU.png Judging that its being used to officially describe the game i figure its at least probable that this could be the starting roster for the wii u version. Sakurai never said both version started with the same characters, only that the final roster was the same. Zm123bro (talk) 12:52, 17 October 2014 (EDT)

Ultimate's starting roster

Since we cannot seem to agree on something, this only means that a discussion needs to be held.

Since Ultimate's reveal, Sakurai has been very vague about whether or not the hidden 4 from the original game will be starters. In both the E3 presentation and Famitsu, Sakurai has only called it the original roster; in the latter, he specifically says, "I’ve decided to limit the number of fighters initially available to the original Nintendo 64 roster."

With that said, the wiki appears to be on and off about whether or not Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, Luigi, and Ness will be unlockable. Our own policy prohibits the use of speculation on the wiki, and therefore I move that the four unlockables in the original Smash 64 have their unlockability status listed as "Unknown" until the game comes out, on the grounds that we cannot make a clear statement based on Sakurai's vague wording. I agree 100%. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 01:44, 16 July 2018 (EDT)

Mii Fighters are not starters

I don't think the Mii Fighters should be listed as starters. This page has screenshots of the starting roster and the Miis aren't there. The starters are the fighters that are always selectable when you first buy the game and go straight into Smash. If you have to go into Games & More to create a Mii, that is not a starter because creating a Mii is the requirement. Starters have no requirements. Even if the creation process is simple, it's like calling a character you unlocked from beating Classic Mode a starter or calling a downloaded character like Piranha Plant a starter. And Sakurai said that only the original eight would be starters in Ultimate, so there shouldn't be any argument about whether the Miis are starters or not. In fact, making the Miis status unknown after the starter roster has been confirmed by Masahiro Sakurai with a screenshot to prove it violates SW:SPEC. I agree. They could be or couldn't but, let's see how that works out. Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 18:46, 11 November 2018 (EST)
