Checkmarks and “clear”Edit

Do we know what the checkmark next to the spirit's rank, as well as the “clear” that appears in the upper left when the spirit is selected, mean? I've noticed that they don't always appear together. —Fenhl 17:18, April 25, 2019 (EDT)

A checkmark should mean at least a copy of the spirit is currently owned, and I suspect the Clear sign means this spirit battle has been actually beaten at least one time (excluding won/bought spirits but I think including World of Light battles). -Menshay (talk) 18:48, April 25, 2019 (EDT)
Correct. Awesomelink234, the Super Cool Sonic Fan Leave a message if needed 18:52, April 25, 2019 (EDT)
It may be different with 3.0.0., but at lease prior the checkmarks only refer to Spirits you actively have in your inventory. If you dismissed, enhanced, or used some to summon, the ones used would not have a checkmark on the Spirit Board despite having obtained them before and having them listed in your collection. Spirit Board ExclusivesEdit

I feel there should be a list of Spirits that can only be obtained exclusively by the Spirit Board. The "complete list of Spirits" is currently being discussed to be deleted. We have pages for Spirits that are exclusive to Summoning, Shopping (WoL) and Enhancing, we are only missing the ones exclusive to the Spirit Board. (Aside from Shopping, WoL exclusives are Master and Boss Spirits, which also have their own pages). Toad, Goron, and Fighting Alloy Team are examples of those that can only be obtained from the Spirit Board. Wolff (talk) 20:45, April 25, 2019 (EDT)

Thumbtack?Edit

What does a thumbtack do when it appears on an Event Spirit? Juju1995 (talk) 12:40, April 29, 2019 (EDT)

SplitEdit

I propose splitting the page and creating a separate page dedicated for a list of spirit board events. At this rate, and if we were to assume that there will be many more events in the next few years or so, the section in question would become extremely crowded; therefore, splitting it away from this page would alleviate the problem. Also we have this page dedicated for spirit board events without randomly appearing spirits (as the title suggests), so why not have a list of spirit board events to complement the page? Support Sounds good and reasonable. Smore (talk) 02:34, July 25, 2019 (EDT)
This hasn't been touched upon in a long time. In short I support. I have to agree with Cookies on the fact that should there be more spirit board events in thr future, this page could get very crowded.   OmegαToαd the Toαd Wαrrior (BUP) 07:25, April 4, 2020 (EDT)
Support for the reasons given. We could replace the table with a link to the new page and add it to the template. Honestly we could also probably get rid of the "events without randomly appearing spirits" page and mark them on the new page, perhaps in bold or a highlight.--CanvasK (talk) 07:40, April 4, 2020 (EDT)
Looking over the other page, maybe it can stay. I was under the impression that every event had its own page but the events that are only SP, EXP, etc. only link to that page. Still in support of the main topic.--CanvasK (talk) 07:50, April 4, 2020 (EDT)

Spirit-type advantage and disadvantage for less or more rewardsEdit

Do the Spirit-type advantage and disadvantage effect the amount of rewards given when won a Spirit Battle, like less rewards when at an advantage and more when at a disadvantage? Juju1995 (talk) 08:45, March 20, 2020 (EDT)

I did a quick test with Tap-Tap/Proto Man (disadv) and Rabbid Kong/Geno (adv) against Ryo Sakazaki and I got (arguably) better rewards at a disadvantage (tried to minimize other factors by Inhaling and walking him off the edge with Kirby). The most common increase was more SP (60-300 for example), snacks seemed to fluctuate between more and less, and extra items (shield spacer, damage 50%, etc.) seemed to be higher. This was only 8 battles, so it may not be accurate. On top of that you deal a lot less damage and take more, so it may not be worth unless you have a quick kill/cheese.--CanvasK (talk) 09:18, March 20, 2020 (EDT)

Completing your collectionEdit

I have discovered that the Spirit Board has a mechanic to assist players with completing their collection. As of this post, there are about 1,450 spirits in the game, and today I just finished collecting every single Primary and Support spirit in the game. In so doing, I've come to realise that the board tends to prioritise spirits that the player does not have in their possession when it reloads its slots. While spirits that the player already has may appear alongside, I've noticed you are significantly more likely to encounter spirits you don't have rather than ones you do.

I just don't know to what degree. In my earlier edit I thought about adding that there's guaranteed to be at least one spirit that the player doesn't have, but that seemed like a bit of a stretch to me. Nonetheless, given how easily I have been able to dismiss a spirit and then later encounter it on the spirit board, between that and the total number of spirits that can appear on the board, it happens far too often to just be coincidental. There is one significant factor however: A higher ranked spirit will not be encountered as easily as a lower ranked one. So take from that what you will. Black Vulpine of the 🦊Furry Nation🐺. I could've sworn that was already noted somewhere but I guess not. I'm doing something similar with the Shop (collecting every spirit but only by purchasing) and I'm noticing a similar thing where I only get unobtained spirits even though I potentially have a 1/7 chance to get a duplicate.
I think one way to test the odds would be to dismiss, let's say, 12 spirits (3 of each rank) and refresh the board a lot and note how many (if any) duplicates show up. Best to test when there isn't an event swaying the odds. I may test it out myself when I'm done with my Shop experiment... if I get done. --CanvasK (talk) 07:16, January 27, 2021 (EST)
Yes, this has been known about for some time. However, I'm afraid this isn't the kind of thing that reliable data can be obtained for by testing alone. I once did 1000 trials of Togepi to find the probabilities of each attack, and while I learned that Smokescreen is the only move with a different (lower) probability, I couldn't get the percentages to more than 1 significant figure. Needless to say, this would be even harder to test, given how many variables there are, some of which aren't even known yet. Alex the Weeb 18:02, January 27, 2021 (EST)
I'd still like for an attempt to be made. I've spent days trying to work out how explorations work, which I ended up dropping due to the massive time investment and factors that I have no control of. But I wouldn't have known that there were those factors if I didn't try. Even a naive approach of assuming owned:unowned = % should get us some information. --CanvasK (talk) 18:17, January 27, 2021 (EST)
