DeletionEdit

I am against deletion. We already know that they are showing up, and as you can see with all our pages on the P5 charecters, thats enough to make them worthy of a page. Xtra Talk Edits 07:23, June 12, 2019 (EDT)

I believe it's too early to call the presence of Slime in Ultimate. Keep in mind, however, that Slime is present in the Panoramic and is most likely a taunt, too. If it's a background element, however, then I don't see why this page should exist. Cookies Creme 09:05, June 12, 2019 (EDT)
Now that created page, I think we should keep wait until we know what its role is before deciding whether to delete.--Capstalker (talk) 09:30, June 12, 2019 (EDT)
I can do what I did with WayForward and Ubisoft and move this to my userspace for the time being, to keep it around in case we need it, though we'd have to drop the links to this page as a result. Aidan, the Rurouni 10:44, June 12, 2019 (EDT)
Agreed. I am against deletion as well. 15DollarsWentSouth 03:07, July 20, 2019 (EDT)

Given this context of being shown on Palutena's Temple, Slime is absolutely either part of a taunt or some other function separate from a stage cameo. That would certainly qualify it for a minor character page. Miles (talk) 01:20, June 13, 2019 (EDT)

To bump this a bit, I'm also in favor of keeping the page because Slimes are a very important character to the Dragon Quest universe, even if their appearance in Smash is as minor as a taunt. Considering one shows up on the panoramic banner, I think it's worth keeping. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 22:44, July 20, 2019 (EDT)

Further follow-up: even if the taunt-cameo-equals-basis is considered weak, Slimes have the stage cameo and the banner art cameo to talk about, so it's a bit more than a case like Navi anyway. Miles (talk) 13:08, July 23, 2019 (EDT)
Stage cameo is already considered weak to begin with (thus, for example, why Silver is the only GHZ character not to have a page), and the banner art cameo is even more weak, considering how it's not even an actual part of the game. But I'd be fine with "taunt cameo equals basis". Aidan, the Rurouni 13:59, July 23, 2019 (EDT)
Yeah, it's more of a stack of all three combined that makes it worth talking about, I think. A Slime Stack, if you would. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 19:54, July 23, 2019 (EDT)
And now the Slime is a hat. Apparently a Mii costume is enough to warrant a page right? Ribbon Girl got her page while only being a spirit and a sticker. SeanWheeler (talk) 01:07, July 31, 2019 (EDT)
Yea, Slime keeps the page. Aidan, the Rurouni 01:09, July 31, 2019 (EDT)

Slime is not a recurring mascot it is the series mascotEdit

I may not know a whole lot about Dragon Quest but I do know that Slime is the series mascot which is easy to find out if you look up Slime and include Dragon Quest in the search so why do you refuse to call it the series mascot and instead call it a recurring mascot it makes no sense to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 35.136.185.103 (talkcontribs) 09:55, July 26, 2019

Have you even read any of the edit summaries for your reversions? Cookies Creme 10:34, July 26, 2019 (EDT)
I did and only ONE of them gives a reason with that being it wasn't neutral which is just ridiculous because Slime IS the series mascot many sources say so if anything it just comes across as a dumb excuse not to include it.
The only reason you seem to support such a minimal word change is due to your belief that a mascot for the series is more deserving or expected to be featured in the series' symbol, as shown here and here. There's no such rule stating such, nor any major trend that dictates such for it to be seen as an exception, making the trivia addition subjective and biased in nature, all of which go against wiki policy. In fact, none of the universes which have well-established series mascots other than a recurring protagonist have them at all. For example, Pokémon doesn't have Pikachu, neither does Final Fantasy have any of its three different mascots as their respective symbols. Otherwise, the word change is simply unnecessary.   Nokii — 10:52, July 26, 2019 (EDT)
I wouldn't say it's out of place to note that the Slime is the series mascot for DQ (because it is, and we note mascot status for pages like Mario, Kirby, Sonic, Pikachu, and Chocobo), but I do have to agree that noting its absence as the series symbol despite being the mascot is completely subjective and unnecessary. Aidan, the Rurouni 11:06, July 26, 2019 (EDT)
I only made this section because I wanted the article to call it the series mascot not a recurring one and now I can see and I admit I was wrong to think it being the series mascot automatically should make it the series symbol due to the examples you gave me on series mascots I am sorry I feel so dumb right now —Preceding unsigned comment added by 35.136.185.103 (talkcontribs) 11:16, July 26, 2019
Hey, don't worry about it. I had reverted that edit by mistake when I was going through the article; I meant to revert the series symbol trivia point. It's valid to say it's the series mascot, but that doesn't automatically mean it should be the symbol, basically. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 15:19, July 26, 2019 (EDT)

Slime (DRAGON QUEST) and Slime (Minecraft)Edit

Since there's another Slime spirit (the one from the Minecraft series) coming for Ver. 9.0.0, is it necessary to have an disambiguation page? --Prolyfic8 (talk) 15:06, October 4, 2020 (EDT)

I'd say no, because those two are the only two Slimes, and the Minecraft Slime doesn't have a major role, unlike the Dragon Quest Slime (who is the inspiration for a Mii Costume), so we could just have a link at the top of the DQ Slime's page to the Minecraft spirit page. Awesomelink234, the Super Cool Gamer (talk) 15:35, October 4, 2020 (EDT)
Yep, the DQ Slime warrants a page and the Minecraft one does not, so there's no need to move this page. Miles (talk) 17:01, October 4, 2020 (EDT)
That being said, there should probably be a disambig2 template at the top pointing to the Minecraft spirits page. Alex the Weeb 17:11, October 4, 2020 (EDT)
