Possibility of different RoyEdit

Someone keeps adding the following sentence into the article:

"However, because Sakurai said there would only be 1-2 more third party characters after Snake had been announced, it is more likely that it is Roy from Fire Emblem."

This doesn't belong for a variety of reasons. First of all, the quote says: "there would only be 1-2 more third party characters after Snake". The quote was already including Snake, and only one more (Sonic) actually made it into the game, so based off the quote, there was still a possibility for one more. Since Roy Campbell is third party and the Roy from Fire Emblem is not, the quote isn't making any sense.
Besides, even if the quote said there would be only one more (referring to Sonic), that still doesn't prove the code wasn't referring to Roy Campbell, since Sakurai could have easily made the statement after they had already decided to cut him from the game even though they had been considering him at one point and had started some early programming on him.
Lastly, these articles are supposed to be unbiased. Since the likelihood of it being one over the other is a matter of opinion, it shouldn't be in the article anyways (I believe it's most likely Roy from FE as well, but it needs to be up to the reader to decide, not us). I hope my explanation cleared up any confusion. I'm now going to remove the quote again. Please do not re-add it.--Bman87301 23:39, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure that was entirely necessary since it could have easily just been a misunderstanding on the editor's part, and not intentional vandalism. Still, thanks anyway.--Bman87301 23:52, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

why is this article here?Edit

This article is pure speculation. No facts, just claims. We could also have an article about Mewtwo's consideration to be in Brawl, but we don't. I bet there's many names that appear on the disc. 98.117.158.220 21:29, November 22, 2009 (UTC)

Only a few, actually, and therefore they merit mention. Miles (talk) 23:11, November 22, 2009 (UTC)

Merge discussionEdit

No merge. The identity of the Roy is ambiguous, therefore there is no way to determine for sure that it is the same Roy as in Melee. Miles (talk) 02:21, February 5, 2010 (UTC)

DeletionEdit

Keep. The existence of the data is notable. Less so than the Mewtwo data, but notable nevertheless. Toomai Glittershine   The Stats Guy 17:54, July 7, 2010 (UTC) ABSOLUTELY NO DELETE: Notable enough to at least be mentioned on Roys page, if it must not get its own. Dr. Pain 99   Talk 22:53, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

Keep. People want to see this information. Keep it.-Ivy73  23:14, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

This is ridiculusEdit

I propose that we merge this page with the Roy article. Mewtwo actually has a file for a victory theme in Brawl, along with a bunch of other data. There's good evidence that he was meant to be in Brawl. This article, however, is based on a single name found on this disc. Why does this get an article, but not Mewtwo? This information can easily fit in Roy's article. Mr. Anon (talk) 01:18, 10 August 2011 (EDT)

As seen earlier on this talk page, some people doubt that this Roy is the same as the Fire Emblem character. I personally don't believe it, since Roy Campbell of Metal Gear Solid is the only possible alternative, but we really can't do much if some people don't agree...ReiDemon 08:01, 10 August 2011 (EDT)
This has been up for merge and deletion so many times, and the result has always been the same: 1) It's notable. 2) We don't know if it's FE Roy so a merge with Roy doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's ok as its own article. A better idea would actually be to put it on the Beta Elements page like everything else... DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 11:38, 11 December 2011 (EST)
If we're definitely keeping it, can we get rid of the {{merge}}? It's unappealing to have two templates at the top of the page. Toast  ltimatum  11:41, 11 December 2011 (EST)
Or, we can indeed merge it with Beta Elements. Toast  ltimatum  11:42, 11 December 2011 (EST)
I'm ok with either. Mewtwo (SSBB) is still an article as well. DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 11:46, 11 December 2011 (EST)
Mewtwo (SSBB) is not sticking around, you can't use it as an argument for keeping this page. Omega Tyrant   12:51, 11 December 2011 (EST)
Yeah, consensus appeared to be to merge with Beta Elements or create a new article for scrapped characters. Mr. Anon talk 12:51, 11 December 2011 (EST)
Oh, I wasn't aware that Mewtwo (SSBB) was being merged. In that case, this one should be merged with Beta Elements too. DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 14:20, 11 December 2011 (EST)
I think, like Anon said, a new page should be added called 'Scrapped Characters' or 'Forbidden 7'.Pokémonultimate   Do a Barrel Roll! 21:42, 20 December 2011 (EST)
Bump. I moved it to Beta elements, but Toast reverted, claiming we needed more support before it can happen. Are there any users out there opposed to such a merge? --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 18:04, 31 January 2012 (EST)
Everyone in this section supports a merge with Beta Elements, so I undid Toast. DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 18:39, 31 January 2012 (EST)

Proof of which roy?Edit

Is it possible to play his unused fanfare in any way? if so, than the series of origin for the music would be a giveaway to which roy this refers to.Pokémonultimate   Do a Barrel Roll! 21:46, 20 December 2011 (EST)

Nope, only a file name has been found. I assume it is empty. Mr. Anon talk 00:22, 21 December 2011 (EST)
