Please now, "Randall" is clearly now a female named Dethklok. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Balladechina212 (talkcontribs) 16:30, 30 August 2007 (CDT)

Citation needed. The community needs to support unofficial lingo for it to be worth anything. Not every group of friends can come up with their own smash slang and expect it to be recorded in an encyclopedia after all. -- RJM Talk 12:35, September 1, 2007 (EDT)

deletionEdit

Strong Delete. i see no reason to have a joke page, no matter how well-written it is nor who backs it up. a joke page is a joke page and doesn't belong in anything besides a personal page. FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 02:10, October 15, 2007 (EDT)
Weak Delete/Neutral hmm, apparently people are picking up this term and it's spreading. if it's used by many people, then this page is a keeper. FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 17:24, October 15, 2007 (EDT)

Delete: It's cute, but it shouldn't be on this Wiki. -Thores 02:20, October 15, 2007 (EDT)

Neutral: Well, if it's been called that by the general Smash Bros. community just like the terms "Wave Dash" and "Shinespike", it's about as valid as the articles on those terms, which counts as "pretty valid" IMO, but only if valid citations for any of these terms are provided/available. Otherwise, if it was clearly made as a joke long ago by someone who's the only person to identify the character as that, then I would support deletion. Just like Randall00 says in the section above this one, I see. :) (I also say mellow out a bit with the inter-page interactions, folks. 0_o) Erik the Appreciator 02:34, October 15, 2007 (EDT)

Keep: This term, as mentioned above, is slowly being picked up by the community, especially in the Canadian Community and this article is completely valid as a "term". Similar to the term "John" which started out as an inside joke but then it grew to become a term recognized by everyone in the competitive community, something Randall the Cloud is slowly building up to. No clouded hopes. --Janitor 19:22, October 15, 2007 (EDT)

Oh, in other words, you're against the deletion, not the article. ^_^ Erik the Appreciator 01:41, October 16, 2007 (EDT)
What the heck is this article? PLEASE tell me this article is a joke! - Pokemon DP
Er... it's not a joke article. Maybe the current state of the content and arrangement of the article is a joke, but I see this as being able to end up very valid as a page. (The fact there's over 1000 articles on players of the games on this wiki makes an increasingly famous name for a stage element like this one seem valid to me. IMO, anyway.) Erik the Appreciator 01:51, October 16, 2007 (EDT)
Randall the Cloud is not an official name. Also, IMO, articles on players should NOT be made. We are an encyclopedia, we are about gathering information on the Super Smash Bros. series, NOT the people who play the games. If you people want others to know about you, you have Userpages to do that stuff. - Pokemon DP
While I pretty much share that opinion about the general site, in this case I might just let the others debate and decide for themselves what's best. ;) Or another solution is to just merge it with the Yoshi's Island stage article and write a sentence like "The cloud has been nicknamed "Randall" by the Smash Bros. community as a result of...", and then add the story behind it. I think Ken's Peach Theory was merged with Ken Hoang with much the same mindset... Erik the Appreciator 02:01, October 16, 2007 (EDT)
Hehe, well you're definitely in the wrong place to make a case against smasher articles, Pokemon DP. The fact is, SmashWiki is an encylopedia that is about gathering information on the Super Smash Bros. series AND the people who play the game and the enormous competitive community that has emerged from it. It's not about "wanting others to know about you", although a lot of the people who write their own articles seem to think that it's good publicity; it's about documenting the history of the community. In addition to writing a lot of the smasher articles, I also use SmashWiki as a reference for arranging major tournaments and documenting local community information. Just like a real enyclopedia! -- RJM Talk 06:33, October 16, 2007 (EDT)
I would say merge. - Pokemon DP

Keep: When I first came to SmashWiki I probably would've put a delete tag on this article myself, but since doing so, I've been surprised at how pervasive the nickname really is, with players all across Canada and down into some of the northern states like Pennsylvania, Virginia, Idaho, etc. When I went to TransCanada to meet and network with a variety of community players, it was actually quite remarkable how well the name had stuck within smaller communities. Ultimately, it doesn't bother me if the article exists or not, but to delete it when there's piles and piles of more important work to be done is just unnecessary policing of an unwritten policy; as Janitor pointed out, johns came into use similarly and to enforce the unwritten policy on this article and not that one is a needless double standard. There's something to be said for the character and lifeblood of the global smash community when certain bits of unofficial lingo catch on like that. It represent a unique wholeness of common interest that I feel deserves to be documented, and like I said, there's just :Category:Cleanup|bigger fish to fry. -- RJM Talk 06:33, October 16, 2007 (EDT)

That argument alone would be counted as valid enough for me to vote keep... And I would like to note something else about SmashWiki: I don't think this is a Wikia wiki, this is more like an independent wiki, so some "rules" here are differently handled than over at Wikipedia. It's totally fine for an independent Wiki to have articles on players that comprise the starring game's community, and thus this nickname for a stage element is not against any rules that I'm aware of. And fortunately all these articles don't get in the way at all of my editing canon articles like the Universes and the fighter pages anyway, so this page's harmless. :) Erik the Appreciator 14:10, October 16, 2007 (EDT)

Official nameEdit

The official name of this cloud is Lakitu's (or Jugem's)Cloud, not Randall (no offense to the original). Can I change it's name? It would make alot of sense. Blue Ninjakoopa Talk to me 19:53, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Wrong and wrong. If you look, you'll see that there is no Lakitu on said cloud. Also, Jugem's Cloud was an item in Super Mario Brothers 3 and never showed up again. Don't jump to conclusions.
Also, there isn't an official name. Randall is a fan nickname that grew within the community. I was at an informal tourney a while back and heard "DAMN YOU, RANDALL" screamed at said cloud. FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 20:17, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
bnk is right, jugem's cloud is the name of the cloud in the game yoshi's story as well, and it is the same cloud. KP317 (talk) 20:44, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
It may be a cloud, but it never appeared as the same incarnation. If anything, it should be "Lakitu's Cloud" because there is no Jugem in English Mario games. Alas, Lakitu just doesn't ever show up on this cloud. It's just a cloud with a face that players can stand on. That's pretty generic. Anyway, since when did Lakitu have his unmanned clouds float around on fixed paths, anyway? FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 10:52, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
That's exactly what I said Fyre, God dammit!!! You love picking fights with people don't you? It's lakitu's Cloud or Jugem's Cloud, as KP has stated below. You wouldn't last a minute on Mario Wiki (you'd be immediately banned). Blue Ninjakoopa Talk to me 23:11, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

it is called jugems cloud. you said it yourself. and clouds did move around in weird paths on yoshi's story. but, by the same token, i don't think anyone ever actually calls it jugem's cloud except for me and, apparentely bnk. maybe a redirect or a disambiguation page would work. KP317 (talk) 22:59, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

KP is rite. This article needs to be moved. Blue Ninjakoopa Happy Holidays 05:53, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

...Edit

The correct name for this organism is Jugem's Cloud. Paper Bowser (talk) 02:04, November 25, 2009 (UTC)

MergeEdit

Support I don't see how it should be a standalone page. Berrenta (talk) 09:18, 2 May 2014 (EDT)

Support As distinct as it is, it probably deserves to be a subsection. Scr7 (talk · contribs) 09:34, 2 May 2014 (EDT)

Support Unless a cloud that is pretty much the same is in a new stage in a future game (and also earns a nickname like this), this really should just merge with Yoshi's Story. The pattern for the most part is that only recurring hazards have their own articles.  intendrone42 10:20, 2 May 2014 (EDT)
