For all characters I’m seeing some videos of characters and analyzing what moves have been given an upgrade or if that move gotten worse —Preceding unsigned comment added by SuperPeachy (talkcontribs) 13:00 10 August 2018 (EDT)

Individual attacks are likely to be adjusted further before launch, so avoid listing off minor changes on character pages. Stuff like new animations are fine, though. Also, please sign your talk page entries with ~~~~. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 13:48, 10 August 2018 (EDT)

Pikachu's genderEdit

I was wondering if Pikachu should be referred to as a male, mostly because that's the default gender. I see someone edited my edit on Thunder for that reason. Iridium77 (talk) 20:21, 10 August 2018 (EDT)

SW:1RV says to leave your undone edits alone for now, but this raises an interesting debate. On one hand, Sakurai has explicitly referred to costumes as male or female, so the Robin rule applies here. On the other hand, Pokémon are supposed to be referred to as gender-neutral. I’d say the former rule should take priority, personally, because Pikachu wasn’t explicitly given a gender in Smash until this game IIRC so this is a unique case, but I’m open to other opinions.  Nyargleblargle (Contribs) 21:27, 12 August 2018 (EDT)
Pokémon are conventionally referred to with genderless pronouns even when the sex of an individual Pokémon is known. For example, Ash's Pikachu in the anime is male, but it is almost always referred to as "it".Nintendo101 (talk) 18:50, 16 September 2018 (EDT)

Do you think Pikachu is overrated and should be nerfed ?Edit

From what i heard and saw, Pikachu was buffed too much when it was already a solid high tier(15th out of 55 in SSB4), and in my opinion, this is because its new neutral aerial, its forward and back aerials have too little risk and too much reward, since they have too little ending lag, are easy to follow up and can easily cause a zero-to-death combo. In my opinion, my nerfs to Pikachu would be the following: neutral and forward aerial will not be able to autocancel in a short hop, down aerial's meteor smash sweetspot will last 1 frame instead of 2 and neutral, forward and back aerials will have 7 more frames of ending lag and forward aerial will launch at a 70 degrees angle. What do you think?95.233.145.59 16:34, October 23, 2019 (EDT)

"Pikachu can perform zero to death combos without risk even against experienced players."Edit

Is this statement true? Due experienced players get zero-to-death comboed by him in Ultimate, and is it really without risk? I'm mostly asking for confirmation because this was added by the same IP who has the opinion that Pikachu is broken and should be nerfed, and was responsible for getting the Kirby (SSBU) page protected, so I'm rather skeptical about this line. This definitely seems extremely biased to me, if not opinionated. Pikachu's combo game is renowned but the way that statement is worded is just exaggerating it. Extra points to noticing the IP, as that's a big signal that the statement probably isn't neutral. Rewriting it along the lines of "it has an excellent combo game that can potentially cause zero-to-deaths" is more than enough. Mexi (talk) 01:03, February 2, 2020 (EST)
I knew the wording sounded overly optimistic, but because I don't follow the competitive scene I needed a backup opinion before deciding to rewrite it, so thanks to this I rewrote it to be more neutral and to accommodate with SW:NPOV.
Also started digging through revision histories and found this edit. This same IP undid my revision that previously removed other opinionated statments about Pikachu as seen here, and the edit in the former link, along with the summary, is evident that this IP is exaggerating. Adding Neeroz to "Most historically significant players"Edit

Neeroz's results have been excellent at offline majors as of late, including 7th at Ultimate WANTED 3 and 13th at Temple: Hermes Edition with wins over Griffith, Ogey, Lancelot, Sintro, Dakpo and Flow. Enki by comparison hasn't done as well, falling short of top 64 at both events. Neeroz's recent results compete with/edge out Enki's best all-time results (being 17th at both Albion 4 and Ultimate Fighting Arena 2019) and certainly outperform him in the current return to offline era, so I was hoping to get him added to the 10 player list, possibly over Enki, Day, or Z, as well as naming him the best EU Pikachu. Please advise. TenebrousGenius (talk) 19:46, September 19, 2021 (EDT)

Neeroz's results have been great as of late. That said, I do think it should be noted that this section isn't meant to be reflective of current results but instead results over the course of ultimate. On that note, prior to quarantine Neeroz had mixed results. Looking over the results on Smashgg, his most notable results appear to have been 4 seasons and stunfest. So at least there is some prequarantine results to go with the recent placements. I don't think Enki should be removed, as he's still been compiling some pretty decent results on the whole. If we did remove a player I'd favor either Day or Z. While they've both been pretty consistent across Ultimate, I can see a reason to remove them. Z has good results at majors but hasn't been the most active player. Meanwhile, Day has been more active but hasn't played in a supermajor (Granted Australia hasn't had one either). Curious to see what others think. Wiifitkid (talk) 20:14, September 19, 2021 (EDT)
Echoing what WFK said, the sections are for players who are very likely going to have historical notability, ie performing very well for extended periods of time. That being said, I do think that Neeroz edges out Enki in that regard, since even though Enki has had some high highs, most of his results, even during his peak, haven't been that great. On the other hand, Neeroz has placed rather respectively since 2020, and ever since post-quarantine he's been blowing it out of the water. I do think Neeroz's achievements have surpassed Enki's especially since most of Enki's results are part of an earlier, less developed metagame, so in my opinion Neeroz should replace Enki. Replace Day with H4DS in historically significant playersEdit

Apologies, I am new, I should've come here first. Day has seemingly lacked recent tournament results, while H4DS has seen an upturn in results and has wins over top 100 players. Esam also called H4DS "the second best Pikachu in the States", and I could try and find the link to the video he did this in.

Again, I apologise for any inconveniences I caused. ESaintx (talk) 12:26, July 9, 2022 (EDT)

Day should definitely be removed, especially since there should be no way Pikachu should be at the 10 player limit. I'd hold off on H4DS since most of his best results are regionally, and aside from Crown 2 his major results have been rather mediocre; I also don't think a player saying another player is good justifies the player being added to the section either. Cookies Creme 16:02, July 9, 2022 (EDT)

Alright, I can agree with that. Most of his wins have been at regional tournaments. If he can carry form into national tournaments then it could be considered more. I'll hold off for now. ESaintx (talk) 05:52, July 10, 2022 (EDT)
