Pikachu's Male... No Heart Indent. Nintendofan146 15:40, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

That's true, but it's best not to bother with such things. Pokémon are referred to with gender neutral pronouns in the games, so we should do the same. --Phred 16:44, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Not only that, but "traditionally" all pikachu had the same flat tail until DP. If this one is meant to represent the species as a whole, rather than any specific Pikachu, I don't see why we should assume it's a male simply because it has the same tail style they are always depicted with prior to this generation. - Gargomon251 (talk) 17:28, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, although they're referred to with gender neutral pronouns in the game, they use blue and red signs next to their names to determine their gender (except for most Legendary Pokémon). MarioGalaxy {talk} 15:29, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

New Format![edit]

JtM was kind enough to turn the pros and cons section into the attributes section. I think he did a great job, but if you don't think he did(which you shouldn't) just edit, please don't put it back to the old format.Smorekingxg456 (talk) 15:31, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I saw the attributes section. Smoreking, you and JtM are really good at this! MarioGalaxy {talk} 15:32, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Um, do you mind leaving a list of the attributes you're currently doing on my talk page? I'll just check for spelling errors and stuff like that. No way will I make a good attribute section like you two. MarioGalaxy {talk} 15:34, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Up smash[edit]

i used to use pikachu and trust me, it is powerful, i have used it to ko falcos at 80% JtM =^] (talk) 06:12, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

ok[edit]

Too Biased[edit]

The attributes section sounds too biased and less professional. Could anyone fix that? - BattleFranky202 (talk) 20:05, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Vair?[edit]

Typo or what? Just curious. "Pikachu's aerials are good. Fair and nair are useful in combination with a short hop. Vair can be used as a semi-spike while dair can be used to attack players juggling Pikachu. Bair is literally the one move Pikachu players shouldn't use, as its lag is rarely worth it compared to the small amount of damage it does over Pikachu's nair." Searched "Vair" on the wiki; no results besides this sentence. I wouldn't be so interested if it didn't mention Semi-Spiking. :P. Oh Hai (talk) 23:52, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm assuming it meant Bair. Thanks for pointing that out. Go ahead and fix it if you'd like. Kperfekt722 These Rules Are Stupid 23:55, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

2 be honest i believe pikachu is a very balanced player if u can dodge. he has lightning fast attacks that can easily be comboed and has a decent projectile and one of the best recoveries in the game. this recoverie allows pikachu to edge guard at metaknite lvls and with his thunder attack u practicaly rule the sky. if ur skilled enuf to handle him he can be deadly. and to top it off his taunts are just too damn cute.... -tidus i24

Your opinion. Any character can be made deadly. Not all can use the recovery correctly, and how could you edgegaurd against a MK? They know multiple ways to knock you off. The thunder attack can be easily dodged (GO LEFT! DODGE!).--MegaTron1XD:p 05:43, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

in free for all matches it can be tuff 2 see pikachus thunder attack coming. and i never said he could edge guard mk i just said he can protect the edge at the same lvl. anyways mastering pikachu requires one to be able to avoid attacks and keep ur enemy dazed while u follow up with combos. usualy a down grab followed by an unescapable down smash then u finnish them off with thunder.... -tidus i24

You did say edge guard, I could see it. If you wanna use the name, make an account. Otherswise, just sign your posts using 4 tiles or the sig button. Any master player needs to avoid. Your combo thing can be dodged, as I've done it before and people dodged it with ease. Again, make an account if you can.--MegaTron1XD:p 06:25, July 22, 2010 (UTC)
That's true; in free-for-all's that it's hard to see a Thunder, but you forget that many characters can reflect/absorb Thunder. Air dodging and hitting Pikachu with a projectile/disjointed hitbox during the animation helps too. Also, try to type with correct grammar. Please. ok try that combo agin at low damage i guarantee the down smash is unescapable. but the thunder is for wen there at high damage and dose require skill. and as for the account thingy, wat can i say im lazy..... tidus i24

Well, making an account is too easy, and is easier than responding :p. I was unclear. The down smash is unescapable. If followed by thunder, it isn't accurate. SW:IRC and http://webchat.freenode.net/ (Name on top, #wikia-smashbros) are the places you can use to talk to me, if you make an account.--MegaTron1XD:p 06:48, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

haha too true... i just did and it took like 5 seconds... but yes the thunder is just for that xtra push and no u wont hit every time but once u get good ull have them blasting off like team rocket in no time..... p.s.- how do i add the signature?... dose it do it 4 me?

Pichu evolving into Pikachu[edit]

This revert was made, and no one cared for it. Unless the way it is stated now would make it ok by Wiki standards, it should be removed. MegaTron1XD:p 20:54, 12 May 2011 (EDT)

"Official Stance" for Gender-Neutral[edit]

At least this Pikachu is definitely male (as well as his SSB4 counterpart). Pikachu has gender differences for a reason, and only male Pikachus look like that, and both Brawl and SSB4 came after gender-differences were introduced (although Melee and SSB Pikachu could be female). Additionally, he's based off of either Red's or Ash's Pikachu, both of which are male (except Red's Pikachu in B2W2, which can be female, but again, only if it has a part in its tail). I don't think there are any official sources that call him an it. What's your reasoning to assume he could be either gender? ...a new NuttaNutta's Mallo sig.pngis approaching... 16:05, 1 September 2014 (EDT)

I used to think that way. But then I realized it would be weird to refer to SSB/Melee Pikachu as 'it' and Brawl/SSB4 as 'him'. For example, what would we do on the Pikachu page, where it refers to all his game appearances? As for other games (Pikachu (SSBB), Pikachu (SSB4)), I think they stuck with the no indent tail for consistency.Qwerty (talk) 16:14, 1 September 2014 (EDT)
We use gender-neutral pronouns for all Pokemon. That's really all there is to it. It's consistent and standard. Miles (talk) 16:15, 1 September 2014 (EDT)

So there's no proof that he's not male, you just use neutral pronouns. In that case, can I add my trivia back, with a comment that gender-neutral pronouns are still used. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nutta Butta (talkcontribs) 16:37, 1 September 2014 (EDT)

The Smash Bros. trophies and profile descriptions refer to Pikachu (and all other Pokemon) with gender-neutral pronouns, which also matters. Blue Ninjakoopa 16:37, 1 September 2014 (EDT)
Yeah, as far as I know the only exception is one case where Lucario is "he", but that's pretty clearly the exception to the rule. Miles (talk) 18:58, 1 September 2014 (EDT)
