Should this page be listed as Megami Tensei (universe) depending on what the DLC brings? Persona is certainly it own series but a lot of its content originates from other Megami Tensei games, which have appeared often on Nintendo platforms. Coldramentpm (talk) 00:18, 7 December 2018 (EST)

That's what I was thinking, but I just named it this because that's what Joker's page said. I do think it's the better thing to do. Anthony1996 (talk) 00:20, 7 December 2018 (EST)

I'd argue that it depends on what's included in the Joker content pack. If nothing is referenced that is specifically outside the Persona sub-series, I think this is the appropriate title. If, say, other MegaTen content gets in by way of music/spirits/whatever, then I'd agree it should be a more general universe page covering the whole MegaTen franchise. For the time being, I think this is an okay place to leave it until we know for sure. Miles (talk) 00:21, 7 December 2018 (EST)

I think their relation similar Mega Man and Mega Man Battle Network, but consideration Yoshi and Wario, should wait for the actual content to come out, according to series symbol divide.--Tyughvbnsi (talk) 03:54, 7 December 2018 (EST)
I propose we cover all bases and call it Shin Megami Tensai: Persona Universe Guybrush20X6 (talk) 03:58, 7 December 2018 (EST)
I disagree on account of P5 not using the SMT super-title, and only some previous Persona games using it. I think in general we're best off leaving this at the Persona title until we know the contents of the pack and only moving it if there's something more general to cover (e.g., SMT 4 music or something). Miles (talk) 09:03, 7 December 2018 (EST)
I want to bring up something a YouTuber I follow once brought up. Up to this point in time, All persona games have been called "Shin Megami Tensai: Persona" with the number of the title at the end. However, Persona 5 actually drops the Shin Megami Tensai from the title, establishing the Persona series as separate from Shin Megami Tensai series. I my self am unsure if this is true, i don't play the games. Said YouTuber has also stated that in past Persona games you could find lots of references or allusions to the Shin Megami Tensai games, however Persona 5 has almost no SMT references outside of shared monsters/persona designs and names. For that reason I feel we should just keep this universe as just Persona, not Shin Megami Tensai: Persona. Due to the fact P5 drops the SMT from the title, and has little to no SMT references, P5 could be the game thats trying to establish the Persona series as being separate from SMT.

Well actually, NONE of the Persona games originally had the supertitle "Shin Megami Tensei". The only one with any supertitle was P1, which was titled Megami Ibunroku Persona. The "Shin Megami Tensei" part was only added in western releases starting with Persona 3 to connect it with other PS2 Megami Tensei games like Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, and Raidou Kuzunoha as part of a push for MegaTen in the west. In Japan, Persona 1-5 have always been titled independently of Shin Megami Tensei.
Of course, P5 is still part of the larger Megami Tensei series, as evidenced by its inclusion of the characteristic cast of demons, names of spells, fusion, compendium, etc. So if any non-Persona elements are added (a Flynn spirit, music from Devil Survivor) and Joker's universe is listed as "Persona", just put the rest of that stuff in "Megami Tensei" (which is what Wikipedia uses). 75.46.164.77 01:02, 13 December 2018 (EST)

For all I know it should be Persona since there are sub-franchises that get their own universe logos and stuff, until it puts SMT stuff in I say Persona sounds nice Jiashen C. (talk) 23:47, 7 February 2019 (EST)

Spirits for Persona UniverseEdit

which characters and personas do you think would be spirits in Super Smash Bros Ultimate? 203.219.10.149 21:11, 26 December 2018 (EST) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.219.10.149 (talkcontribs) 18:16, December 26, 2018

The Megami Tensei NovelEdit

Since Megami Tensei, the series Persona spun-off from, originally started out as a 1986 novel by Aya Nishitani called Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei (which would later go on to spawn an OVA on March 1987, 6 months before the first game in the series), would that technically make Persona one of the few franchises in Smash to start off as a non-video game property first (albeit in a VERY roundabout way), just like with GoldenEye? SuperSmashTurtles (talk) 02:01, June 20, 2019 (EDT)

I would say "no", since Persona is only loosely connected to the greater Megami Tensei series, and is generally treated as its own thing in Smash. DryKirby64 (talk) 03:07, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
Persona is its own series. Its like the Mario sub series. Even if Magami Tensei originated as a non-video game, Persona itself did not despite it being part of the MT series. 47.199.39.81 04:36, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
Obviously no, it has very little connection with the Magami Tensei, and has nothing to do with the principles of the original novel.-Capstalker (talk) 05:09, June 20, 2019 (EDT)
I'm an outsider on all this, but I think Atlus generally considers the Shin Megami Tensei series, which began with video games, to be different from the Megami Tensei series, which is loosely based on the novel. NuFace (talk) 09:57, June 20, 2019 (EDT)

Phantom Thieves Character PagesEdit

Didn't know where else to put this so sorry if it's not right. Do we really need separate pages for every Phantom Thief? Morgana I understand since he's on the banner and in Joker's taunts, but everyone else is dubious at best since they only appear in the background and in All-Out Attack. - DustyOldQrow (talk)

We have separate pages for Mii costume references and stage elements, hence why the thieves have their own page. Cookies Creme 21:41, October 6, 2019 (EDT)
I think the reason the Phantom Thieves have pages are because of their Final Smash role anyway, since a Final Smash role generally warrants a page (Chrom, Dunban, Jinjo). ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 21:52, October 6, 2019 (EDT)
The Phantom Thieves have pages because they're a part of Joker's Final Smash. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 22:58, October 6, 2019 (EDT)
I personally believe that's unnecessary and that there should be just one page for all but Morgana. There's cases where I can understand such as Fiora having an individual page, since Dunban and Riki have more roles than her, but when all of the Thieves can be placed in one page as a group and their other role besides being in a Final Smash is to be in the background and not affect gameplay, it feels like unnecessary space for the wiki; especially Futaba, who doesn't even gets to be in Mementos and just appears as a portrait in the All-Out Attack. After all, we don't have pages for each individual Hero or Koopaling. DigitalHazard (talk) 17:08, February 9, 2020 (CST)

Persona is not obscureEdit

I've heard many people mistakenly claim that Persona, King of Fighters, Dragon Quest, and Touhou are obscure, when they actually aren't. On the article should we mention something along the lines of "contrary to what fans/people think or believe, Persona is not an obscure franchise/series"? Kaithehedgefox (talk) 21:57, March 6, 2021 (EST)

I don't know why you're so fixated on whether a series is labeled "obscure" or not, but you should know that as an encyclopedia we have no business in labeling any series as obscure or not obscure. Miles (talk) 21:59, March 6, 2021 (EST)
