I think the Uppercut Attack may be a Shoryuken. I think there was a Mega Man which you could unlock it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robertman2 (talkcontribs) 14:41, 11 June 2013 (EDT)

I think it's the Mega Upper, as show in this video a bit after the four-minute mark. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Platitudinous (talkcontribs) 15:41, 11 June 2013 (EDT)

I think Mega Man would be the first unlockable character to appear. At the beginning of his trailer, where it says "new challenger approaching" would make it seem like a secret character, similar to when a "a new challenger approaching" in brawl and melee. - Anomynous

It appears that the flame sword is the Forward Aerial and the Slash Claw is the back aerial. In the discussion video Megaman is facing the opposite direction of the attack. As for the Hard Knuckle, it appears to obviously be a Down Aerial. The Leaf Shield appears to be a special attack as it is seen to be activated in the air and on the ground in various videos.71.104.249.253 02:09, 13 June 2013 (EDT)

Slash Claw and Hard Knuckle could be special attacks as well, or even some new kind of move. The point is we don't know yet. Miles (talk) 02:13, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
Sakurai called them aerial attacks (in the developer showcase, I believe). They are most likely forward, back and down aerials, but the neutral air ruins the guess work. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumA transparent image of Swadloon for my sig. 08:16, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
On the contrary, the neutral air, forward tilt and standard attack are all the Mega Buster. Remember, he can shoot while he is walking and while he jumps. If we see an attack other than that performed on the ground and in the air, it simply must be a special attack.96.229.18.35 15:45, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
What if the Mega Buster is a special move? Let's not add that in until we have evidence that it is not a special move. Awesome Cardinal 2000 15:59, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
In the developer video Sakurai states that it is a standard attack. Also in the video showing Mario fight Megaman at E3, Megaman uses the metal blade in the air, but in the developer video Megaman uses it on the ground. The leaf shield is also seen to be used in the air and on the ground in the developer video. In the Megaman vs Mario fight previously mentioned the crash bomber is also used both on the ground and in the air.96.229.18.35 16:14, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
You mean this video?96.229.18.35 16:20, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
So it's settled then. The Rush Coil, Crash Bomber, Leaf Shield and Metal Blade are all Special Moves.96.229.18.35 16:25, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
While he states that it is a standard attack, do we know which direction they are? What if it's a neutral attack that has some sort of new mechanic that lets you walk while shooting? For example, you can walk around while shooting a Super Scope in Brawl, how do we know you cannot do the same with the Mega Buster? We still do not have enough information to classify it as a specific directional attack. Awesome Cardinal 2000 16:34, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
That would require him activating it while standing still and spamming continuously, but he seen to activate it while in the air and while walking. Besides I think w are in agreement that his mega buster is used in the air and while he is walking so it must be Nair since he is not seen to move left or right while shooting in the air, and he is not dashing while he is shooting on the ground so it must be his standard and side tilt attacks.96.229.18.35 16:45, 13 June 2013 (EDT)

Then it's settled. The aerial attacks are: Mega Buster- Nair, Air Shooter?- Uair, Slash Claw- Bair, and Flame Sword- Fair. 96.229.18.35 17:38, 13 June 2013 (EDT)

People are just saying to wait, we can't confirm as of now (a move should be obvious in what input it is if we're going to put it down), and we're in no rush; we don't need to put information that we have no way of confirming. Also indent your posts when you're directly replying to someone. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 17:47, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
Well, aren't the specials confirmed. (I can't indent on an iPad...). The Metal-Blade, the Crash Bomber, the Rush Coil, and the Leaf Shield have been seen used in the air and on the ground. The Mega Buster is confirmed to be a standard attack so these others must be special attacks. 96.229.18.35 18:08, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
That could be, though we still don't know their exact inputs. So as of now, we'll point out that those attacks exist, and wait until we can confirm definitively what inputs they're assigned to. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 18:24, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
You indent by typing : at the beginning of your post. Awesome Cardinal 2000 18:27, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
The aerial attacks seem obvious now that they are established. The slash claw is Bair from the developer video due to the fact that the attack goes behind Megaman. The fire sword then takes the slot of Fair left by it since Megaman is always moving forward when he is is using it.That leaves the Mega Buster with Nair since he is not seen to move whle he is shooting in the air. As for the Hard Knuckle and Air Shooter(?), I think we can use common sense since the Hard knuckle hits downwards (Dair) and the Air Shooter(?) hits upwards (Uair) from the Mario vs Megaman video. Thanks for the info by the way Awesome Cardinal 2000. 96.229.18.35 18:37, 13 June 2013 (EDT)
We need confirmation that these attacks are in their respective input directions before we can include it in the article. Awesome Cardinal 2000 19:00, 13 June 2013 (EDT)

So what do we not know? 108.23.219.221 16:12, 23 June 2013 (EDT)

Well, We may not know what directions specific moves are for certain ( even though some are intensely obvious) we do know what the aerials, special, tilts and smash attacks are. However we currently do not know are the grabs (aka Super Arm) since only one is actually shown. We also do not know what the Final Smash is. Aside from that and the taunts we have everything.71.165.100.114 01:54, 8 July 2013 (EDT)

Special MovesEdit

Aren't the special moves confirmed to be the Metal Blade, the Crash Bomber, the Rush Coil, and the Leaf Shield? They are the only weapons other than the mega buster seen to be used in the air and on the ground in the videos. 96.229.18.37 01:34, 15 July 2013 (EDT)

Did you not read what we told you above? Awesome Cardinal 2000 08:17, 15 July 2013 (EDT)
Are the special attacks going to be labeled as such? 96.229.18.57 22:02, 2 September 2013 (EDT)
No because we need confirmation that these are special attacks. Stop posting messages here asking us to add the moves as special attacks. Awesome Cardinal 2000 22:30, 2 September 2013 (EDT)
Sorry, I thought there was enough evidence as there was enough for the smash attacks... 96.229.18.57 22:52, 2 September 2013 (EDT)

The Mega/Rock Upper actually originates from the Arcade title "MegaMan 2: The Power Fighters", where each playable character posesses an alternate charage attack by titling the joystick UP before releasing the charge shot. Mega/RockMan's is the Mega/Rock Upper, a flaming uppercut not unlike the Shoryuken of Street Fighter fame. The move also appears as a part of MegaMan's movelist in Marvel vs. Capcom, this time with a blue hue instead of the previous fiery golden one.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.193.96.150 (talkcontribs) 00:22, September 20, 2013 (CDT)

Could just as well be some non-taunt move. We'll have to wait. - Ceci n’est pas un Smiddle. 06:37, 4 August 2013 (EDT)
No, all of his other attacks have been taken up and it is obviously only intended for flair. 96.229.18.57 22:08, 2 September 2013 (EDT)

VideosEdit

For crying out loud, why is the same video referenced three times on the page? Instead could we also use the developer direct as a reference? 71.118.204.82 00:00, 4 September 2013 (EDT)

The video was the developer direct. The citations have been condensed. Miles (talk) 01:12, 4 September 2013 (EDT)

Smash Wiki is NOT speculativeEdit

That's what I've heard, at least. So we should probably keep the "Air Shooter" as "An air weapon". I hate speculation as much as all of you! (Un-User)72.105.2.224 12:52, 25 February 2014 (EST)

Mega Man's Final SmashEdit

I'm not entirely sure if this is necessary, but shouldn't Mega Man's final smash say who each incarnation of Mega Man is and mention what series they came from? (X is from Mega Man X, Volnutt is from Legends, Hub from Battle Network, and Geo from Star Force) (ThirdPlayer (talk) 09:37, 9 April 2014 (EDT))

Actually it's Geo fused with Omega-Xis, not simply Geo. 104.35.10.1 00:57, 13 June 2014 (EDT)

Mega Man's final smash is used on the highlights for this page: http://e3.nintendo.com/tournament/ 174.61.2.208 08:38, 30 June 2014 (EDT)

Mega BusterEdit

Wasn't it confirmed as a normal attack in this video, at 4:19? The article did not say it is a normal attack. I do understand that it is one with the current description, but wouldn't adding that information help? 123.21.107.241 13:51, 19 April 2014 (EDT)

Older than they thinkEdit

Sakurai stated that the Mega Upper is from Marvel vs. Capcom. It's actually from the arcade game Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters. Should I just change the info to mention only the latter, or say in the article that Sakurai got its origin wrong as well? Goomba98 (talk) 08:39, 17 May 2014 (EDT)

Pallet SwapsEdit

I was wondering if we can actually show the pallet swaps instead of describing them. --Mega Ben (talk) 20:09, 21 July 2014 (EDT)

We have a page for that. It wouldn't hurt to cross-link it on the SSB4 character pages, but it's not particularly urgent until we have all of the costumes confirmed. Miles (talk) 20:13, 21 July 2014 (EDT)

Differences in the Same move: The Mega BusterEdit

Despite what the article says now, according to the smash demo, the mega buster is NOT the same across its inputs. The differences lie in the hit-boxes, two of the three have sweetspots with drastically different effects. Here's the rundown.

Forward tilt-no sweetspot, same throughout,
Jab-sweetspot located on the arm cannon, deals 2.5% damage rather than 2% and slightly higher knock back
Nair-sweetspot located within mega man, deals 4% damage rather than 2% and massive knockback

GOOD GOSH PEOPLE! JUST COPY AND PASTE IT! IT WILL TAKE 3 MINUTES MAX! You know people are coming here to see stats and figure out the characters, so just edit it for the sake of the integrity of the site, because as it is, it is misleading in what the mega buster actually does, and thus what the character does because. Do you want that? 173.58.244.2 21:58, 26 September 2014 (EDT)

I won't copy and paste it, as it breaks our Manual of Style, but I guess I could add it in (why hasn't it happened yet?) Qwerty (talk) 22:31, 26 September 2014 (EDT)

Thank you so much for actually listening. I am not sure why it hadn't happened yet; I guess people just didn't care and felt that if someone wanted a change to be made they should become a member. I think this member limitation should be lifted on the demo characters, because we have that information. Oh and could you also get the pummel please (2.5%). Thank you very much.173.58.244.2 22:44, 26 September 2014 (EDT)
Uh the data entered into the chart is wrong, the f-tilt does not have a sweetspot, and the the aerial does 4% damage, not 2.5%. Sorry but could you fix it, please.108.0.222.154 01:09, 28 September 2014 (EDT)

The Back Air's Hit BoxesEdit

The first two hits of the back air send the opponent down in a diagonal trajectory, is this a spike or semi spike and is it worth mastering?108.0.48.87 20:29, 30 September 2014 (EDT)

I just used it multiple times in multiple matches and it is a potent meteor smash or spike, personally I obtained a KO at 35% by using it (although it was a level 9 CPU).98.112.97.149 19:43, 2 October 2014 (EDT)
The back air has three hits totaling 12%, each color coded (yellow then red then blue) and each with a different hitbox. The yellow slash has a direction I have not determined yet with 3% damage and low knockback. The red slash is directed slightly diagonal but mostly vertical and downward; it deals 4% damage and decent to high knockback for a meteor smash (I think the previously mentioned KO was a fluke). The blue slash is directed horizontally and slightly vertically; it deals 5% damage and high knockback. 98.112.97.149 21:42, 2 October 2014 (EDT)
Hey guys can you do me a favor and actually do your jobs and read and contest and consider and actually post becaus eI cannot. Hm, it's not as bad as I thought. Has room for improvement, but it's not worth sweating over. 74.248.61.4 18:24, 1 October 2014 (EDT)
Yeah, it could be reworded a little, but other than that it seems fine to me. All right, I won't sweat about it. Have a nice day. Rtzxy   Smashing! 18:29, 1 October 2014 (EDT)

It is based on _______'s weapon from _____Edit

I'm not sure whether we should stick origins in there. Probably the best solution to this would be putting this under the Mega Man (universe) page, where we could list the moves and their origin robot with bullets (under the List of games with elements in the Super Smash Bros. series section). Do we keep it as is or should we move the stuff over? Qwerty (talk) 22:22, 2 October 2014 (EDT)

Mega Man 5 - Unrepresented?Edit

I could be wrong about this, but given the current moveset it would seem that no Robot Master weapons from Mega Man 5 were used. However, one could argue that Beat happens to be an obtainable move(Not a Robot Master weapon). It just irks me that none of the weapons from Mega Man 5 were represented. I feel that Charge Man's "Charge Kick" could have been used instead of the normal slide, and that this was a missed opportunity. They were even able to slip in Galaxy Man's "Black Hole Bomb", although it is only shown during Mega Man's Final Smash. I was just wondering if anyone else may have noticed as well, or if anyone has any information as to why Mega Man 5 got the short end. Mhfgunner (talk) 21:40, 17 October 2014 (EDT)

This is incorrect talk page usage. Laikue (talk|contribs) 23:53, 17 October 2014 (EDT)
I apologize for that. I merely thought this was a page regarding discussion about Mega Man in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS(SSB4). I did not intend to use this page for random topics. I felt that it was a noteworthy observation, and would not have posted otherwise. This section may be removed(Do not misunderstand. I am not saying permission is needed), as I do not have any personal attachment to it. I only wondered if other people were aware of this, though I'm fairly certain it wouldn't go unnoticed. What about Megaman 10?--Garchopex (talk) 20:42, 22 October 2014 (EDT)
I did notice that as well. Even so, my main point is "Why add weapons from 1-9 excluding 5?". It puzzles me that even with the interchangeable abilities they seemingly forgot weapons from one of the NES titles. Perhaps it's a clue? I mean Proto Man was the antagonist in Mega Man 5, or so we are made to believe in the beginning. This is doubtful, but that's why it's called "speculation". Mhfgunner (talk) 22:45, 22 October 2014 (EDT)
I really think that we should think about this for trivia on the main MegaMan character page. It is fascinating to me. Gpev96 (SHAZAM!) (talk) 08:42, 23 October 2014 (EDT)

mega buster nerfEdit

I was just doing some testing, and unless I'm much mistaken, all of his mega buster pellet attacks have been nerfed by 1%. Can someone please investigate this? Thank you. 99.90.201.140 12:43, 5 September 2015 (EDT)

Definitely not the case between 1.0.9 and 1.1.0. What versions were you comparing, and how much damage did the pellets deal? Nyargleblargle (Talk  · Contribs) 13:10, 5 September 2015 (EDT)

Projectile Smash Attack questionEdit

Before I go adding it in, I want to make sure: is Mega Man the only character where any of his Smash attacks, in this case his forward Smash attack, a projectile? No one else is coming to mind, but I want to make sure I'm not forgetting something. Alex95 (talk) 17:11, 6 October 2017 (EDT)
