Non Smahs BioEdit

I don't know a lot about Kirby's non-smash bio, so could someone please help me into making this longer. Thanks. Johnknight1 12:47, October 25, 2007 (EDT)

That pretty much counts as incentive for me to create the whole Character description section for the page... I think I'll start work. Could you do all the game sections and images to make it like Mario? Erik, Lord of Universes 03:50, October 25, 2007 (EDT)

Huh!?Edit

Um...Why in the box is the gender female, when it says HE was created by so-and-so? 75.181.38.89

Recent ArtEdit

I'm confused about this now. This game was released after Brawl and is the most recent, but OT got rid of Link's most recent art. Explanation please?--MegaTron1XD  15:40, July 14, 2010 (UTC)

I think Megatron1 might have a point...Edit

Maybe we should only have artwork of a character from a game released most recently before Brawl. What do you all think? BNK [E|T|C] 20:36, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

Not at all. Part of what Smash is important to SmashBros is the history of the games. The trophies make this clear with showing different art from different games/eras. We should include relevant images of the characters from all games and eras to show the development of the characters, especially those for whom it is unclear exactly which game their costume(s) are based off. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 20:55, July 16, 2010 (UTC)
I agree that art should be updated (at least the one at the top of the page), as the articles are primarily about the characters as they are from outside Smash Bros. Toomai Glittershine   eXemplary Logic 21:14, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

SpeciesEdit

For some reason, the Swedish SSBM manual says that he is a bat. This is awfully wrong, isn't it? – SmiddleT 04:38, 3 January 2011 (EST)

While it is wrong, there may be a partial explanation. In Kirby's Dreamland 3, there are Kirby-shaped enemies called Batamon. Toomai Glittershine   The Bold 09:49, 3 January 2011 (EST)
Batamon? Sounds like a Digimon. This isn't notable enough trivia, is it? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 11:59, 3 January 2011 (EST)
I understand why you would assume such a thing. Not notable imo.MegaTron1XD  17:52, 3 January 2011 (EST)
A bat?! That's simply strange. I could see why they made that mistake, though. Meta Knight is supposed to be a Kirby, but his midair jump animation resembles a bat. Brawlingbrian  LANDMASTER! 19:30, 3 January 2011 (EST)
Strangely enough, this was Melee, so no Meta Knight. – SmiddleT 19:53, 3 January 2011 (EST)

Fighting GameEdit

Hi! I notice that Mario, Mega Man, Pac-Man Link, Snake, Little Mac, and DK mention on their page that they appeared in a fighting game other that smash bros. Well, Kirby Triple Deluxe has a Fighting Game built in. That can not be argued. You can't say that Kirby Fighters is Super Smash Bros and tell the truth. So you should REALLY mention this on Kirby's file as well. :) 72.105.72.143 10:39, 30 June 2014 (EDT)

Kirby Fighters is a sub-game, so I'm not sure that it counts. However, you do have a point. I think this is worth discussing. FirstaLasto 11:51, 30 June 2014 (EDT)
This trivia point on articles should just be wiped altogether. There are so many characters it applies to at this point, it's nothing really notable anymore. Omega Tyrant   12:21, 30 June 2014 (EDT)
I agree. It has become really long and pointless now. ChuckNorris  12:25, 30 June 2014 (EDT)
Agreed. Especially if more Smash fighters appear in other fighting games in the future, it'll be too tedious to have to add to every page with that point. Berrenta (talk) 12:50, 30 June 2014 (EDT)

Hmm...Edit

Is it okay if I add his Planet Robobot artwork image to the infobox? Juju1995 (talk) 01:12, 15 May 2016 (EDT)

To what end? His Triple Deluxe design is basically identical. Miles (talk) 01:29, 15 May 2016 (EDT)

Smash 4 Dark Blue KirbyEdit

The dark blue color swap looks exactly like Meta Knight without the mask. In Kirby: Planet Robobot, Meta Knight (as Mecha Knight) can be seen without the mask before quickly leaving when you defeat him. Valehd 10:45, 13 June 2016 (EDT)

I couldn't see his face very clearly when I beat him, but A. Mecha Knight was clearly a pretty different shade of blue than the costume and B. we probably wouldn't need to mention this anyway, since Planet Robobot came out after Smash 4.  Nyargleblargle (Contribs) 11:26, 13 June 2016 (EDT)

Trivia ConfusionEdit

Ok, so I know Banjo appeared in Diddy Kong Racing, and Sonic appeared in some racing game as an air freshener or something, but what game did Kirby appearing before Kirby's Dream Land (1992). He appeared as a cursor in Earthbound's debug menu, but that was in 1994.

Kirby Hat TrophiesEdit

Why aren't the Kirby Hat trophies included alongside his other trophies from Melee? Shadow2 (talk) 10:47, March 14, 2021 (EDT)

Kirby's first appearance: Kirby's Dream Land or Arcana?Edit

I'd like some discussion about Kirby's first appearance since there's some conflict between edits on if Kirby first starred in Arcana or Kirby's Dream Land. For reference, here is Kirby's supposed cameo in Arcana.

Arguments for this being Kirby's first appearance include Arcana also being developed by HAL Laboratory, the game releasing exactly a month before Kirby's Dream Land meaning the timeframe matches up, and it just unmistakably ressembles the pink puffball.

However, counterarguments include the fact that Kirby's cameo in this game isn't as clear-cut as Sonic's cameo in Rad Mobile, Masahiro Sakurai had no involvement with Arcana (though longtime Kirby composer Jun Ishikawa was involved with Arcana), and there's two Kirbies present rather than just the one.

So the question is: which of these two games should be mentioned as Kirby's debut? Would really like some discussion on this. Meeper12346 (talk) 21:39, April 12, 2022 (EDT)

Considering the cameo is questionable and just a cameo, I think it's best to have his actual debut mentioned with a nod to Arcana in the trivia section at most. Hitbox Enthusiast Zeck (talk) 21:44, April 12, 2022 (EDT)
I think there's a good chance it is Kirby. The reference image has a lot of detailed spritework save for "Kirby"—if it was a normal enemy like a slime I'd imagine they'd at least put some shine on it, instead it is very simplistic like Kirby appears in Kirby's Dream Land. While Sakurai had no involvement on Arcana, he is listed as a "special thanks". --CanvasK (talk) 22:15, April 12, 2022 (EDT)
I've touched on this on the Kingdom Hearts spirits page, but it is my belief that character debuts should be based on more than a cameo/teased appearance. It's nice to see stuff get teased beforehand, but there is a difference between Banjo debuting in Diddy Kong Racing or Roy debuting in Melee, and Kirby appearing in Arcana or Sonic appearing in Rad Mobile. Aidan, the Springing Rurouni 22:16, April 12, 2022 (EDT)
If that's the case, then I feel as though the mention of Sonic's debut in Rad Mobile should be removed from his article. Either both Arcana and Rad Mobile should be mentioned, or neither of them should be mentioned.Meeper12346 (talk) 11:09, April 13, 2022 (EDT)
I agree with that. Simple cameos shouldn't count as actual debuts. Hitbox Enthusiast Zeck (talk) 13:15, April 13, 2022 (EDT)

(Reset indent)If we're not counting the Final Mix secret endings as debuts, then I'd also add Dark Samus's debut to the list, since her appearance in the first Prime game's secret ending basically counts as a debut as much as the Birth by Sleep trio's appearance in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix's secret ending.  The Jacketed Terrapin  13:44, April 13, 2022 (EDT)

Dark Samus is another issue, though. Canonically, she's Metroid Prime, which appeared in the game of the same name. While her Dark Samus appearance debuted in Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, She actually debuted in the first game as THE Metroid Prime. This is way more than a cameo.
